So, today we told everyone at work (me and DP work in same office) that we're pregnant! I'm 13+3 so have been dying for everyone to know!
Mostly had lovely happy positive responses but some just left me Shock
"Were you trying or just practicing?" oh I'm sorry I didnt know it was appropriate to ask if you had regular sex with your other half!!!
"thats good its what you wanted as you're quite young" I'm 31 you fool.
"Well I never expected that of you" why not- you assume I'll make a bad mother?
"So thats why I always see you stuffing your face!" Blush

I was also subjected to one of the oldest women in the office telling me how to care for my nipples if I intend to breast feed. She rarely talks to me but thinks its now ok to openly discuss my nipples in the office wtf?!!

I also had my 'bump' rubbed....erm thats just my tubby tummy but thanks for that!

MIL bypassed congrats and her own delight at first grandchild and asked dh if it was planned!
Everyone at work kept telling me emphatically how well I looked, which is meant well I know but did make me think "just how shit did I look before"?!?! Xmas Grin

I quite like having my bump stroked! One of the markets I work on, everyone knows, and when I work my way back down the line after parking my van, everyone wants a stroke or a pat. She's the market baby. Its really lovely. Smile

I don't have a big enough bump for it to be strokable yet, I do wonder what it will be like! The weird thing at the minute is when people know, they clearly sneak looks at my belly when we're talking! Can't wait to get to the point when its like.... Yep!!! Ive got a belly!

My office manager is the best. Any time anyone announces a pregnancy she says:
"Oh. Was it planned?"
"And are you all happy about it and everything?"

She's just totally socially inept. If I ever have to announce a pregnancy to her I will have my "do you mean to be so rude" ready and lined up. Confused

'I bet you were beginning to think you were barren'. FILs wife. DH & I had been married SIX MONTHS when we told them I was pregnant and hadn't started trying right away.

puntasticusername · 10/12/2013 20:08

Anyone who uses the word "barren" deserves...special treatment, I say. Such a horrible word.

I sometimes stumble into accidental baffoonery when around pregnant women! I didnt care what people said to me when I was pregnant, I was like an excited puppy all the way through I actually wanted people to 'admire' my resemblance to a fucking telly tubby!!

OwlBeThereForYou · 10/12/2013 21:00

"Are you happy about it?"

"Did you mean to?"

"Oh"

"But you're not 30" - wtf?! I didn't know there was an age limit!!

Does it matter if me and my husband (who I've been with for 8 years) planned it or not!? And by the big fucking grin on my face I would say, yes I'm sodding happy!!

Not too much touching yet, but my "favourite" comment has to be

"If I didn't know, I'd just think you we're getting fat!" Shock

Most people are horrified that we want to find out the sex but one suggested that we absolutely HAD to find out, because it makes it so much easier for people to buy presents

"it's sooooo annoying when people don't think of others! Don't they know how difficult it is to buy neutral!" Shock

What is wrong with people!?
