Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, pregnant with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

The link merk just posted. Very interesting, and I'm considering researching a bit more. I think my baby is transverse and nowhere near head down but I still have a few months to see what happens, but the article is quite cool. Mapping where the kicks and bulges occur to visualise the position....

Thunderpantsarego · 15/01/2014 17:37

Ohhhh thank you. Sorry, x posts and them didn't read the ones above mine! Will read now x

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/01/2014 19:15

I read on there that in optimum position the head size passing through the pelvis is 9.5cm. That is much less than I thought it would be... perhaps there is hope for my burger surviving this yet ShockGrin

Thunderpantsarego · 15/01/2014 19:47

My midwife has one of those plastic models of a baby and woman's pelvis. That is a large object passing through a small gap eh?

Tallyra · 15/01/2014 19:56

It's not just the head though. The shoulders come next. Or do they squish?

BlindKitty · 15/01/2014 19:56

thunder neither is mine but I think I have enough sex drive for both of us atm haha! I may as well make the most of it before the 3rd trimester!

brod I only notice movement when I'm sat or lay down. Just assumed I didn't notice when I'm moving around. Thanks for the burger toning reminder Grin. I swear I've been worse since starting the exercises though

wino hey you!!! Good to have you here. Literally every berry (definitely me) has panicked about something or other at some point. However, do think you should speak with your mw or epu to put your mind at rest

Guys, I think 'burger toning' will need to go in the title of the next thread, especially with the iminent mass exodus from berry hq.

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/01/2014 20:38

The shoulders rotate a bit I hope think. Off for a google

BlearyeyedLol · 15/01/2014 21:39

Merk I tried that belly mapping but could not make head or tail (literally!) of it!! Has it made sense to any of you?

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/01/2014 21:40

Seems if its a natural unaided birth one shoulder should come first

Tallyra · 15/01/2014 23:23

Well that's a slight relief thanks prof merk!

I'm not having a great time atm, I've been feeling ill again and my breathing is getting shorter and I've also been getting tiny pinpricks of pain quite low down, which I'm not really sure about. I've been quite gassy so maybe it's all connected. 27w tomorrow so it's a great intro to the 3rd trimester. Hmm

BlindKitty · 16/01/2014 07:13

tally sorry you're feeling crap again but on the bright side at least you only have one trimester left now!

So it's 22 weeks over here! Woop woop! Time is going fast now!

Get Burger toning!!!!

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/01/2014 07:57

Tally sorry you are feeling crap. I've found the third tri much harder work too, although not sure that's any consolation. With seeing all the doctors about my breathing issues it seems it is normal to get very short of breath in the third tri due to baby's size increasing the pressure around your ribs and lungs and everything being much more squashed. Seems that only gets relieved when baby drops into the pelvis, which I believe is called lightening. Could the sharp pains be lightening fanjo?? Not one I've experienced myself but think a few grads had it so maybe ask there exactly what it felt like.
Otherwise the increased gassiness, crippling tiredness, worsening heartburn etc are all presents the third tri brought me for Xmas. I would very much like to get into bed and stay there until labour starts!

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/01/2014 08:03

Oh and for whoever was asking, the new pad (#moneypit) is lovely... Really feels like home. There's plenty of downsides... a heating problem in the kitchen (no radiators so its cold), need a new boiler, all of the bathroom and kitchen plumbing seems to have slow leaks and the garden is a jungle. I'm gradually working my way through emptying boxes and painting and cleaning. Felt awful watching OH lugging heavy stuff into the loft last night and being unable to help, normally I would be ploughing through everything that needs doing so feel a bit useless. Cats seem to like having stairs to race up and down (not seen them before as we came from a flat) and so we are all settling in nicely. Plus my new washing machine is amazing!!

Kat I was prob 25ish weeks before I could start to discern bits of the baby by palpating my bump. Now I often have bits of her stuck out, but there are always hard bits and soft bits and bony bits if I have a gentle prod

Thunderpantsarego · 16/01/2014 09:42

I too fail at belly mapping. I wonder if I need to try when I'm further along. It says in the last month or two of pregnancy- for me I reckon it might just be the last month. Like kat I have only deduced that baby has too many limbs and is doing Saturday Night Fever dancing at times.

So glad the house is good merk and to kats laundry joy too.

tally sorry you're feeling rough. It's not pubic symphysis pain is it? They talk a lot about this in my yoga class and it seems to relate to sharp pains in the fanjo region.

Congrats on 22 weeks kitty! The twenties are just lovely!

Thunderpantsarego · 16/01/2014 11:05

And CLENCH all

kat if you scroll back to yesterday or day before merk copied and pasted some instructions

I am starting to worry slightly though about these old pv muscles. I think I am weeing a bit more after wiping when standing actually. Hoping this isn't the start of something much worse! I'm too young for tenalady!!! Shock

BlindKitty · 16/01/2014 18:25

Oh and epic yoga fail. Starting to feel like the odd one out at normal yoga so booked to go to antenatal yoga tonight but traffic was so bad just turned back! Will try again next week!

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/01/2014 18:30

Kitty the clenchy lady said 3 reps, 3 times a day for 3 months to see improvement so just keep clenching

Tallyra · 16/01/2014 21:37

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think it's pubic symphysis, possibly could be lightening but I don't think baby is anywhere near head down, so I'm not sure, but it's not been so bad today. Still breathless and have a bit of a stitch though. And I've returned to taking an antiemetic in the morning so the nausea doesn't upset me too badly.

Tallyra · 16/01/2014 21:39

Glad your house is good Merk! Grin And with the smells, I'm glad you're enjoying them. I bought some surf the other day and had to replace it after 2 washes as I couldn't stand the smell. So strong and sickly sweet Shock

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/01/2014 22:28

Glamourous = glugging gaviscon from the bottle before getting into bed with an ECG and cables strapped around my bump Grin

Tallyra · 17/01/2014 12:43

How are you today Merk?
