Get a GP appointment ASAP. And don't get fobbed off by the reception.

Agree with above. Have consulted dr google. Apparently most people don't get it 'properly' anyway so you may have already had it without knowing (or only have a mild version). There are lots of stories of people who had it and all seemed well/ probably was well but something probably totally unrelated may bee a symptom.

What a horrible lot of worry Sad

brettgirl2 · 05/12/2013 08:47

Nothing I can say will help you feel better Sad .

I had pains with dd2 at 31 weeks and it turned out to be nothing and I went overdue. ....

Twiddlebum · 05/12/2013 09:07

Please get ready to go straight to the hospital for monitoring. Although be prepared as they may want to send you somewhere else as precaution. I had a rash in pregnancy and got sent to an isolation place. They are just extra precautionary but it's still scary all the same. Good luck. Xx

itsnotrocketscience · 05/12/2013 09:17

Try not to panic! Agree go get checked out for the abdominal pains.

You need to discuss the meningitis thing with a dr. If someone gets infected with meningococcus, their close contacts are offered preventative antibiotics, that sounds unlikely in your grandads case as meningococcus is like the bacterial equivalent of being hit by a lorry, people go from fine to very ill within a few hours wheras you say he's been not right for weeks.

Hope you and your grandad get better quickly.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 05/12/2013 09:51

Sad you 'te not feeling well. Just get your dad to take you to the maternity unit. You don't need to book, just go. And not a&e, you'd be waiting there forever.

Twiddlebum · 05/12/2013 09:56

Please do not just turn up at maternity unit if you think you have been exposed to meningitis because you could be exposing other pregnant women/newborn babies!! Please phone for advice first

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 05/12/2013 10:05

Oh gosh, yes that's right Blush sorry, bad advice. I was just thinking about checking the baby and not the bigger picture. Sorry.

Oh sweetheart, how scary for you Sad . Try to keep in mind lots of people have contractions in pregnancy without it leading to labour. There is something called 'irritable uterus' which is what I was told it was when it happened to me. They gave me steroids for her lungs and then gradually everything settled and I went overdue as I said earlier. They thought it was probably triggered in my case by a fibroid.

I think they can also give drugs to stop/delay labour and you are in the right place as others have said.

notapizzaeater · 05/12/2013 12:54

Very scared for you, but you are in the best place x
