Just sitting in hospital after having the pessary put in to kick off my induction, being monitored for 30 mins then I can be sent home for things to HOPEFULLY kick off! SmileSmile

Anyone else been induced? How long from pessary being inserted did you begin to feel contractions?

Will try update as much as I can throughout my labour Smile bear with me x

I just wanted to wish you luck! I'm only 25 weeks so nowhere near this stage. I'm excited for you!

Rhibeetee · 13/11/2013 19:30

They send you home?!
Lucky lady!

I think it depends on how ripe your cervix is...mine was high, hard and closed with my first and the first two pessaries did nothing, it was 3&4 that really kicked things off....

With my second, cervix was the same but from memory, it only took 2.

I'm due for induction on Saturday, saw my midwife today who says my cervix is high but soft and spongy and she thinks it will only take 1 to get me going this time.

Good luck! And may your cervix be a quick dilater!!
Keep as mobile as you can and bounce on that ball! It really does help xx

GreenGiant3 · 13/11/2013 20:03

Thanks SmileSmileSmile

Yes!! Smile Just on the monitor atm checking baby's heart waiting on them writing paperwork out then I can go home till it all kicks off! Smile

Doctor said my cervix is 1cm long and I'm 2 cm dilated plus this is 2nd baby so should get things moving! I hope so Grin

Thanks very much for the replies hopefully it goes quick, how many inductions have you had Rhibee?

I was 3 1/2 hours from insertion of pessary to contractions starting, then another four hours till DS was born. First baby, first dose of pessary, Bishops score of 7 (I think!)

SerenaJoy · 13/11/2013 20:16

I was induced with first baby. I had a sweep which did nothing, and was told at that point I was 2cm dilated. Went in a couple of days later for pessary - had it at 10am, left hospital about midday and went to M&S Confused to buy some food, then went home. Was starting to get pains by the time I got home, about 1pm. Went for a lie down and contractions woke me up about 3pm. Was back at the hospital by 8pm, 5cm dilated, baby born 4am.

Currently 34 weeks with second and can't wait to meet baby and not be pregnant any more!

Best of luck OP, hope things are ticking along nicely for you Smile

Ooh, good luck!

RiotBecky · 14/11/2013 03:39

I was unsuccessfully induced for a week! they tried the gel and the pessary, then they broke my waters and put me on the drip, then they eventually took me in for an emergency c section!

GreenGiant3 · 14/11/2013 03:47

Riot that sounds terrible Sad I'm glad this has started,

Contractions are coming fast and not giving baby much of a break so they've given me an injection to kind of reverse the pessary, slow them down, I'm due an internal in an hour so we should know more then.. So weird not being able to feel any pain, but I can still feel baby moving nicely Smile please come soon baby!!!!

GreenGiant3 · 15/11/2013 15:14

Hi everyone,

After my last up date I had my waters broken at 4.30am, I gave birth to my beautiful son at 7.06am ! He weighed 8pounds 14ounces.

My labour was amazing, and very much pain free, I was only pushing for 8 minutes and didn't tear!! Smile We were out the hospital by 1pm, so nice quick discharge! I would do it all again tomorrow! Grin

Just enjoying having our beautiful baby boy home, he's so perfect I couldn't be happier!!

X
