Reassurance needed......brown blood .6/7 weeks

Since about 11am I have had a very small amount of brown blood when I wipe.
Between yawns (!) and fighting off nausea - I am trying to concentrate on working and to stop myself running to the toilet to check every 30 seconds.

I haven't had any cramps or backache. Nausea has ramped up a notch since first thing this morning.

From googling around I think brown is "better" than red. But if anyone can give me any reassurance - it would help me. I'm assuming it is far too late for implantation bleeding. I'm stuck at work for another 3 hours and don't feel I can call DH as I might burst into tears if I talk about it. Also - not fair to worry him at work.

I feel worried and alone for the first time since my BFP!

Many thanks

Hi Jay, I know how you feel. I had this at 6 weeks too and was totally freaked out by it, especially as I also had a miscarriage last year. I went straight to the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital as I felt on a verge of a breakdown.
They scanned me and found a heartbeat straight away. I too thought that it was rather late for an implantation bleed but was reassured that that is exactly what it was. Please try not to worry and if you need to book an appointment for your own reassurance and a peace of mind. I still worry abowt things now with two months to go - think it's completely natural!
Good luck - wishing you all the best.
Wishing you all the best.

Thank you for your reply.

I am a nervous wreck.

I have a private scan tomorrow afternoon.....no idea how I'm going to wait that long! So glad I didn't move it. I booked it almost three weeks ago and I was planning on pushing it back a week to I could see more (hopefully).

I had a brown blood at 7 weeks and again at 10 weeks. I had scans on both occasions and baby was absolutely fine. I then went on to have a big bleed at 14 weeks, lots of fresh red blood Sad Very scary, straight to hospital, but again the baby was fine.

I'm now 20 weeks and had my anomaly scan this morning which chowed a very happy and healthy baby Smile

good luck with your scan tomorrow, I'm sure everything will be fine. However, I was told that I shouldn't be at work and not to return until 48 hours after the bleeding had stopped.

hedgehogy · 07/11/2013 15:28

I had this at around the same time and I now have a healthy 5 month old. I know how worrying it is though. The midwife told me that it would have been the embryo burrowing deeper into my uterus (so a later implantation bleed). All the best.

ladylashes · 07/11/2013 15:30

Hi jay

I had 10 days of brown/orange/pink blood from about 5.5 weeks to 7 weeks. I was totally freaked out and had an early scan (all was fine). Since then i've had a couple more lone incidents of brown transparent stuff (sorry!) on the paper when i've wiped after a wee. I'm now 15+2 and all is fine other than relentless f*ing morning sickness! Smile

Brown blood is much better then red, from what i've read. Try not to worry (easier said than done though - god, you should have seen me!!), and all the bext for your scan tomorrow. Let us know how you get on? x

jaykay987 · 07/11/2013 15:46

Thank you.

This is so scarey.

I am working from home tomorrow morning and then its the weekend, so hopefully I'll have time to recover.

I will however have to get the train into london tomorrow for my scan. FX its ok Sad

Hi Jay

I had brown bleeding at 6 weeks and it didnt stop until 9 weeks, I thought it was far too late for implantation bleeding too but the sonographer said its a very common time for it apparently. Its so worrying though isnt it. Hope your private scan gives you some reassurance.

lizziekal · 07/11/2013 15:57

I had exactly the same-5 days of brown blood at 6 and a half weeks pregnant- scared the hell out of me and I was a 2000km drive away from home when it started. Drove home (with freqeuent stops for knicker-checking) and had an emergency scan at 7+3 and the bean was absolutely fine, I'm now 17+4 and I've had another couple of bleeds (including bright red fresh blood) since then but at each scan the baby/foetus/alien-being has always been absolutely fine and there have been no obvious reasons for the bleeding. Leet us know how it goes tomorrow but I'm sure it'll be fine (as the others mentioned, I was told that it is often just a sign of the placenta implanting further) xxx

I also had this at six weeks, had to wait a miserable week before going in for an early scan, but am now sitting here 4 days over my due date waiting for baby to appear!

It was really scary at the time, and I remember feeling bereaved but it all worked out and so sending you lots of positive thoughts and good luck wishes.

The early pregnancy unit were brilliant and got me in at the 7 week point really quickly. I've had a couple of other instances of bleeding through pregnancy but baby looks healthy and happy where it is for now :) this early one was implantation bleeding which I was confused about at the time as I nought it would've happened much earlier.

Good luck!

Hi JayKay, I think that we bfp'd at the same time. I have been bleeding since 6weeks 3 days and its been brown and red. My gp said its normal. Hope you are ok

sonlypuppyfat · 07/11/2013 23:00

I had this he's 14 now and my mum had it with me it looks really scary but it was nothing with us.

highlove · 07/11/2013 23:05

I had brown bleeding like others from week 6-9. Was a heamatoma, or uterine bruise as it was explained to me. Was terrifying but am now 22wks and all well so far. Hope the scan brings relief tomorrow.

jaykay987 · 08/11/2013 05:46

Thanks everyone.

I didn't sleep overly well. But (sorry tmi) there's still nothing on my liner and nothing when I wipe this morning. Not sure if that's because I've been horizontal overnight iykwim.

Scan in 9 hours. FX everything is ok.

Hi jay, I had exactly the same at 8 weeks and all was fine. The midwife I saw before the scan said brown blood and no cramping or pain was a good sign. Now 19 weeks and all well. Apparently implantation bleeds can get trapped inside and as the baby grows it can be dislodged.

All the best for today. Envy

Hi Jay,
I know how upsetting and stressful this can be. I'm now 8 weeks pregnant and had brown/pink spotting for about two weeks now. Then I had one day of bright red fresh blood that completely freaked me out. I went to early pregnancy unit a couple of times and on both occasions I was able to see a heartbeat and the baby was fine!
They said I had some blood clot there and that it is quite common in pregnancy.
Good luck for your scan today

jaykay987 · 08/11/2013 10:22

Thank you.

Im getting very nervous now. Scan can't come early enough!

I had brown bleeding (when wiping mainly) at around 6 weeks and then again around 9 weeks. Have had scan sat 6 weeks and 9 weeks and everything was absolutely fine. In now 11 weeks and haven't had anything since.....EPU said that brown blood was fine as long as it wasn't accompanied with massive pain. I've had period pains ore or less the whole of my pregnancy. Everything seems ok xx

jaykay987 · 08/11/2013 16:00

scan was positive. I'm only 5w + 6. but heartbeat was found. Grin

thanks for the support!

So glad I've found this thread been freaking out last few days had brown blood mainly after having a wee when I wipe. Rang the midwife Wednesday who calmed me down, I've got an early scan Monday morning. I'm 7 weeks. My midwife said its probably implantation bleeding but I thought it was too late for that. This is my first pregnancy so not sure what's normal, but sounds like it is
