Yes, that sounds a lot like a very early stage of labour.

Hope it goes well!

TheCrumpetQueen · 05/11/2013 09:04

This is how my labour started, I had 2 days of mild period pains, then contractions suddenly began 7 mins apart. Good luck !

Mrspebble · 05/11/2013 09:05

That is how labour started for me...Period pains, flu like feeling. Good luck!

Leviticus · 05/11/2013 09:06

Ooh! I had 'period pains' about 5 hours before DS2 arrived.

Get yourself and your bag ready and remind yourself how to breathe through contractions.

Good luck!

Yup, labour. My 1st was induced, my 2nd, started with period pains at about 3:30pm. Didn't believe it was labour until 7:30pm when had my 'show'. Went to bed at 9pm with a couple of paracetamol as still not much. Gave up and got back up about 10:30pm. DS arrived at 2:30am!

laura20 · 05/11/2013 10:58

I've had them since about 6pm last night and still no show or worsening of pain, starting to feel fed up!

Early stages can last a while. Rest lots now. With DS I had a day of cramping and craving weird food then being wiped out and sleeping. Go with it, listen to your body and trust that it knows what it's doing!

cantthinkofagoodone · 05/11/2013 15:35

Yep - early labour! Good luck

HMT13 · 05/11/2013 15:49

I'm getting period pains at the moment and a very 'tight' feeling stomach. Not contractions though (not that I know what a contraction feels like). I'm also feeling very constipated. I always thought you'd go the other way rather than constipated? Anyone had that? Not sure if I'm just imagining things. Im 38+3.

Thanks. I'm quite irregular and suffer with IBS so I'm used to not going but I've been extra good in the run up to try and make sure I'm not bunged up. So it's a surprise to feel like this again. Just feel like I'm starting a period. Will just have to see what happens!

Norfolknway · 05/11/2013 16:16

That's how my 2 labours have started.

Norfolknway · 05/11/2013 16:16

HMT I'm an ibs sufferer too. I was terribly constipated in the run up to (and during) labour. Not everyone goes the other way, esp with ibs.

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine but just to say I had complications due to an impacted bowel during labour, so if you feel constipated when you go to hospital - get them to check you over. Wink
