Indigestion help

I am 33 + 3 weeks. I have really bad indigestion today.I have taken two rantidine (or however you spell it) and it's not helped. It isn't heartburn or acidy, it just feels like I have food stuck at the bottom of my throat. If I burp it feels better for a few seconds.

Anyone got any remedies seeing as I have taken all the medicine I can today and am feeling rubbish.

call the midwives and get them to make sure it is not a sign of pre-eclampsia

if it is - you'd need to go to hospital straight away

if it isn't - try to drink some fizzy drinks to help with burping.

or eat a bit of manuka honey - you might have a throat infection and swelling

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 13:30

pre-eclampsia? really? I don't have any swelling or a headache. I didn't know indigestion was a sign Confused

Are u really short of breath?
It says signed or pre-eclampsia is bad indigestion and shortness of breathe and swelling etc? You said you had pins and needles? Maybe call a mw?
I have no idea for cues but maybe have a walk around the flat? Changing positions may help abit?

Didn't wana leave you in answered! X

I found lemonade helped the best of all. During a meal it seemed to bring up the burps( tmi) rather than let them settle into indigestion.
Cider vinegar is also supposed to help but never did for me !( and was so gross!)

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 14:12

not really short of breath, just feel a bit i don't know, weird. I think I'll wait for DP to get home at 5 before I call the MW unless it gets worse.

already been for a walk outside and it made it worse Sad

Yeh give them a call see what they say.
Hope it eases soon!

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 14:26

I don't want to go to the hospital again. If I end up going this will be the third Sunday in a row that we have been there. They will think we have nothing better to do with our Sunday evenings!

Try a Polo or xtra strong mint? Agree with lemonade(flatish). My mw(years ago) advised I lay on the floor on my back, knees as close to my tummy as poss and rock from side to side. It releases any trapped air.. Works too.

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 14:40

I can't lie on my back as I get really really dizzy else I would give that a go. I am drinking peppermint tea which usually helps but is doing nothing. I'm not sure anything will shift it today.

whisper

please call the hospital. there's nothing better you can do but to get checked/given info on the phone.

is your urine a normal colour?

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 14:45

I think it's normal colour. what colour shouldn't it be?

OP posts:
ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 14:45

you are really worrying me actually.
sorry, but my gut says you need to get checked asap.
Please.

and hopefully I'm wrong and you can come and slap me.

MrsBramleyApple · 03/11/2013 14:46

I didn't know indigestion was a sign of pre-eclampsia. I lived on Peppermint Gavison with ds2 seventeen years ago. I developed pre-eclampsia two weeks before and was induced due to high blood pressure!

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 14:49

shouldn't be too dark, nor reddish or colour of cola.

some people have no symptoms! so headache and dizziness can be due to high blood pressure.

Please google "Symptoms alof orw-eclampsia" - I can't link right now.

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 14:50

mrsbramley

exactly. (and sorry you had that)
it just doesn't feel right, does it?

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 14:50

okay i'll give them a call zing I do feel a bit weird I guess. sort of a bit spaced out? I don't really know how to describe it other than an elephant sitting on my chest not letting food digest and occasionally I can feel my heart beating if I lean back on the sofa, but I thought that was just baby pressing on a nerve or something.

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 14:51

  • google Symptoms of pre-eclampsia

obviously. not whatever the heck that was!Wink

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 14:52

spaced out, confused - really not good honey!

please give them a call asap!

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 14:52

heart racing is another symptom!

WhisperMen · 03/11/2013 14:55

i've just rang them. They are really busy atm and the receptionist said she will get a midwife to give me a call back asap.

OP posts:
ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 15:00

sorry, didn't mean to worry you!

even if it is there's time, it's important that you talk to them today and probably should be seen.

it's called pre-eclampsia, because there's time to treat you and avoid eclampsia!

you and baby will be fine, you will be ok.
(hugs)

KringleCandleLover · 03/11/2013 15:01

Is the discomfort in between the top of your boobs? If so it sounds like trapped wind. Especially if burping remedies it for a short time. If you can't lie flat, do it (if poss) on your bed with pillows under your head. What you are aiming for its to dislodge the air bubbles. (Though ignore me if you don't believe its wind!)

ZingWantsCake · 03/11/2013 15:02

well, as in I did mean to worry you enough to do something, but not to the point of tears!Wink
