Is it normal to have light pink discharge (only when I wipe

  • sorry tmi)? It's like what happened a few days before my bfp and I've felt a bit cramps like af is coming. Have googled and lots of people say as long as it's not red it's fine, but I'm kinda freaking out. Help!

Ps. Morning everyone. Sorry to be so 'me me me'

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/11/2013 07:39

Feather dont worry about being me me me at all. (It makes a chance from me doing it). Cramps are normal, I think quite a lot of us had them. The pink cm can come along with the cramps; your embryo is settling in tightly and will likely be disturbing the lining of your womb (hence the discharge and cramping). However you are bound to worry. Just keep reminding yourself that its red blood that is more concerning. You will prob find the discharge is gone in a couple of days (and then you will find something else to worry about) Grin oh, and google is often not your friend!
Tally, thanks, the wang got me out of bed and the hug has made me hold it together instead of collapsing on the floor in a blubbering mess!

FeatherFeather11 · 07/11/2013 07:46

Ah, thanks Merk! Just needed to say it out loud and get some of your expert opinions. Will keep an eye on it and try not to google. Hmm

Need to get out of bed and get ready for work. I don't want to go today! Waaaaah!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/11/2013 07:51

Feather you and I should stage a sit in as I felt exactly the same as you. I've gone from being highly motivated and loving work to hating each day and counting the time until maternity!

FeatherFeather11 · 07/11/2013 07:57

Ha! Am seriously considering calling in sick. Although I have my annual review next week so probably best if I make an appearance. I love my job usually, but for the last four days I'm totally there in body but not spirit. My head's in the clouds!

Ps. Can't stop eating. I'm going to be the size of Russia by July. face palm

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/11/2013 08:18

Feather size of Russia bwahahaha. Now that is a goal to aim for Grin

Merk I feel your pain today, worked until midnight last night and have to go and see the midwife this morning and is it really bad that I can't be bothered? I should be excited about midwife appointments! I'm a bad preggo!

Kitty hurrah for successful scannage! Sorry I wasn't here to nag you last night, was too busy waddling around in the pub and being banned from picking up anything heavier than a teaspoon. Love risk assessments.. Only one more shift to go though and then I start my real job Grin and and shortly afterwards will be on mat leave mwahah

brod are you going to do virtual viewings or are you coming up to look for houses?

Foodylicious · 07/11/2013 08:21

Its fine feather, as Bridget Jones would say I already 'have a bottom the size of Bolivia' from the last month of constant troughing!
In the supermarket yesterday I bought:- malt loaf, crumpets, bread, doughnuts, hot cross bun loaf, pan au chocolat, Discos, Skips, biscuits & potatoes Grin And just to add we are normally a bread free house apart from wraps occasionaly! Did buy some melon and bananas too Smile.
Staying in bed yesterday morning & eating something little every 40 mins or so stopped me from being sick till lunch time!

have got docs appt tomorrow re being off work, will see what they say. Cant make up my mind about maybe taking something for the nausea or not.

Hope you feel better as the day goes on merk And fab pic merk Grin, think she is telling you to stay in bed in the bubble Smile. I am in the group already merk. Just feel its still a bit early for me.

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/11/2013 08:24

Ps sorry meant to say that I totally agree with what Merk said, pinkish/brownish spotting is really common although that doesn't make it any less worry-inducing. The fact that you've got The Greed is a good sign!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/11/2013 08:30

Grin @ the greed!

FeatherFeather11 · 07/11/2013 08:56

I'm definitely suffering withThe Greed - hehehehehe! Had a burger at the pub with mates last night (we have a friend staying from the US) and usually I'd be fine with my best mate stealing my chips, but found myself asking her to stop and get her own!!

foody by name and by nature! Where do you get a hot cross bun loaf?! My heart skipped a beat when I read that!

Thanks for reassurance on the ol' pinky/browny all. Happy Thursday!

Angelina77 · 07/11/2013 09:01

Morning all. Firstly, what is a sausage 'wang'? And can I have one?

Feather sounds like you're suffering a lot more than me but I'll be interested to see how you get on with the doctor. My nausea and headaches are almost unbearable but I've rarely been sick. Do work know you're pregnant? They shouldn't include pregnancy sickness along with other sickness so shouldn't affect your review (if they know). I've had to tell one person at work because I have to keep disappearing for long trips to the loo.

I've got my 7 week scan this afternoon (4.30), I'm so nervous and excited!

Angelina77 · 07/11/2013 09:03

Sorry I meant foody re doctors and sickness and feather re work review - I think I need to go back to bed

Boomgoestheweasel · 07/11/2013 09:40

Good luck with your scan Angelina!

A sausage wang is what you get when you do/say something that requires someone to knock some sense into you. Said sense is knocked in with a sausage, extra points for using exotic sausages.

FeatherFeather11 · 07/11/2013 11:09

Good luck with your scan today angelina! And no, not told anyone at work or otherwise except for our mums. Still so early - 5 weeks and 2 days, so anything could happen. Been taking sneaky looks at the company may leave policy and we don't actually need to tell work till we're 5 months gone. Might play it safe and drag it out for as long as poss. What has everyone else decided?

Angelina77 · 07/11/2013 11:15

Thanks boom and feather. I'm getting nothing done at work today, just counting the minutes and mooching about on here.

Not sure if I'll get a scan photo - anyone else had a babybond early scan? Seems weird that it's in Mothercare too, I hope you don't have to go through the shop, it'd be awful to see all the baby stuff if it's bad news.

Foodylicious · 07/11/2013 12:29

feather you can get hot cross bun loaf in most super markets. Warburtons make it and its usually near the crumpets, muffins and stuff. I have got the citrusy one this time, they do a raisin one too.

angelina good luck for this afternoon! I had a babybond scan on Monday in Leeds, also in a Mother care and yes, it was inside at the back of the store. I too dreaded how I would cope if it was a bad outcome, its a bit of an odd set up I thought?

Re when to tell work - I work on a ward for men with dementia & my job involves risks to me (i.e. lifting, aggression) that means work need to know as early as I could bear to tell them, so they know now (8weeks), I have been off for the last 4.
If I worked elsewhere or was not as sick I would have put it off for quite a bit longer.

Brodicea · 07/11/2013 12:38

good luck angel - I totally understand your worries about mothercare, but if everything IS okay you can cruise by the prams.

Mind I was looking at prams at 12.5 weeks ish and I felt like a fraud - get totally embarrassed about baby stuff - weird.

I told work because they asked me to do overtime and I had to decline as I was so tired earlier on. I won't get maternity leave though as I'm fixed term, coming to an end at Xmas. SMP for me, hopefully!

Angelina77 · 07/11/2013 12:43

Thanks foody, yes I think it's quite insensitive, there must be a lot of women who end up with a bad outcome and must be heartbreaking. Surely they could have a separate entrance.

Tallyra · 07/11/2013 12:56

foody, if you do go to the doctors for meds, bear in mind that cyclizine is probably the first choice and it can make you woozy or generally sleepy and out of it. it doesn't work for me and I refused it. metoclopramide is my choice but if that still doesn't work, ondansetron is the most effective but also most expensive. it's not nice to have to take stuff but rest assured they have been used for decades with no problems. the problem may be getting the doctor to actually prescribe anything at all, that can be a battle. you need to mention how many times a day you are being sick.

OP posts:
Angelina77 · 07/11/2013 12:58

brod I know what you mean, I'm still not convinced there's anything in there and feel daft thinking about names and prams.

Foodylicious · 07/11/2013 13:10

Thanks Tally, I don't really want to take anything, esp if its only going to work a little bit. I guess it depends on how sympathetic they are with me being off work, how long is it acceptable for me to be off for when I might be able to return sooner if medication works? Though I am also ridiculously knackered and not much is going to help that!
I am going to let them know how I have been and that I cant work at the moment and take it from there. Occy health next Friday should help with figuring out what 'reasonable adjustments' would be at work.

Angelina77 · 07/11/2013 17:39

Scan result is all normal, saw a tiny little heart beating :) Such a relief, nearly cried but managed to hold it together.

PuppyMummy · 07/11/2013 18:00

lovely angelina thats fab news! Smile

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/11/2013 18:09

Angelina that is amazing news GrinGrin

I've just had an epic fail at work. Went to the loo and then to wash my hands. Turned on both taps (the type which turn towards you on either side of the actual tap bit iyswim). Water was too cold so turned off the cold, except I turned it on full blast so it started to splash everywhere (including on me). In my panic, instead of turning off the cold tap I managed to turn the hot tap on to full (more soaking everything in site) and was unable to turn them off for a good 20 seconds. In the middle of this chaos somebody walked in and saw me standing in a puddle getting soaked. They clearly thought I was mad. I am wet through (in jeans) from waist to knees and had to walk out of office holding my jacket and bag in front of me to attempt to disguise the fact I look like a mad person HmmHmmHmm

Foodylicious · 07/11/2013 18:34

angelina yay Grin very pleased for you x

Oh merk that does sound like an epic fail,
