I'm 39 + 3 with baby three and last night I was awake most of the night thinking something was happening. I had a constant lower back pain and period pain but not any specific contractions I don't think. it was just kind of constant....I managed to get back to sleep this am about 4 am and woke up with nothing much and whatever pain there had been wore off throughout the day.
I'm now worried about another sleepless night and it starting again.
does this sound like pre labour or not. my last labours just started with normal contractions.
has anyone any experience of this?
I've not had these pains until now.
Haven't had a show or anything either.

The pain was like period type pain and around my back like I needed the loo or those crampy feelings before your period.

I've had this since Monday and it's doing my head in!!!

I'm 40 wks today. DS was 11 days late and I had nothing, no braxton hicks, no pains until I went into labour which for me started as period type pains, the about 5/6 hours later developed into labour pains. Therefore I was really hopeful on Monday but I'm slowly loosing my hopefulness Sad

Had a show yesterday which got my hopes up again but still nothing.

Frecklesandspecs · 24/10/2013 19:28

it is so annoying isn't it? As well as exhausting.
you would think nature would let us get proper sleeps before the real thing.
I nearly went up to have a bath at 2 am where I probably would have woken the kids, hubby and mum!
good job I didn't!!

I know, all I want is a good nights sleep! Monday night I got about 4 hours as I couldn't sleep so ended up pottering around downstairs till about 3 as it was better than lying in bed.

Last night I was up about 4 times for a wee so that was a crap night too. I'm just hoping that when it starts it'll be quick and not the 30 hours I had last time.

Frecklesandspecs · 24/10/2013 20:24

Hope not!!
I'm just sitting watching emmerdale and feeling discomfort again. Hope it either gets loads worse or better!
is this your second?

OP posts:
NoodieRoodie · 24/10/2013 20:51

yes my second, I'm also sitting here feeling uncomfortable. Just about to take some paracetamol and see what happens.

I was fed up with DS at this stage but at least I wasn't uncomfortable and fed up!

NoodieRoodie · 24/10/2013 22:15

Am starting to think this may actually happen tonight!!!!

Had a bath and now got the TENS on so we'll see what happens

5madthings · 24/10/2013 22:16

Omce labour got going it took less than three hours and I was home within a few hours of the birth, good job as he was born on 23rd Dec, he will be nine soon :)

ERM you don't want to know...he was almost three weeks late! Sorry..

Frecklesandspecs · 24/10/2013 22:36

:-( wish I hadn't asked!!

OP posts:
5madthings · 24/10/2013 22:50

I know sorry :(

I spent lots of time in the bath or birth pool in my living room, or sat on the look in the middle of the night as it was the only place I was comfy!

As I said very quick once it got going, he was born in hospital as technically he was very overdue but born covered in vernix and 9lb 5oz, very easy labour :)

Good luck xx

This is my 1st and I am 39+6 and I have been having pains at night when I go to bed for about a week but last night it was really painful and I thought that must have been a contraction but waited for another which never came :(
These babies are real labour teases.
Good luck everyone, I have a sweep on Monday if no signs.......

SpoonfulOfJam · 25/10/2013 11:38

Another labour teaser here. The aches are persistent this morning though.

I actually want them to stop (like they have been doing since last Friday) as I want to go out and buy a couple of bottles of Baileys (£9 a litre in Morrisons FYI), and get a drive through KFC for dinner. But I really don't feel up to driving at the moment.

Considering getting in the bath but I am concerned I won't be able to get out!!

SpoonfulOfJam · 25/10/2013 11:41

Oooh, freckles, meant to say, my mom has 4 kids- her third was the least easy, and my sister has 3, same with her, very slow labour. (Neither were bas, just slower and longer than the others). It could just be women in my family, but maybe as a pp said, there is something about 3rd babys?

NoodieRoodie · 25/10/2013 12:47

I was right!!! DD arrived at 6.37am, wonderful homebirth and we're both doing well.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of you

SpoonfulOfJam · 25/10/2013 12:51

Wonderful news!! Hopefully not far behind you x

Lj8893 · 25/10/2013 14:19

I have been having this for a couple of nights too!

On Wednesday night my dp came home from work at 9pm, and i was so uncomfortable, bordering on painful. We told both our mums to be ready just in case but no such luck.

I'm due on Sunday, I'm starting to think that this baby could actually come bang on time!

Frecklesandspecs · 25/10/2013 18:43

I had midwife today and bubs is 2/5 engaged so at least that is better than last week when he was free!
maybe the pains were him engaging?
I bear good news also suffering ladies.......today I read something about storms bringing on labour. Monday we are due a hurricane!!
