Baby on way

Waters broke last night so we popped to the hospital to get it confirmed, midwife on triage was so lovely, popped me on the monitor and had a quick check. Confirmed my water had gone, said baby is doing well. Had to stay in until 12 as when I got to hospital I was 36 + 6 and classed as prem, but today I'm at 37 weeks exactly Smile !

I didn't realise, but the monitors picked up some contractions, but clearly it's early days. We went back home and got in bed. I really surprised myself by getting about 5 hours sleep! Woke up this morning, baby still moving well, the contractions do seem a bit stronger but if he doesn't make his way today I'm booked in to go back tomorrow at 7 am.

Feeling very apprehensive but also so excited. Wanted to post here as I've had such awesome support and advice during my pregnancy! Any last minute tips are more than welcome too Flowers .

Hope things are progressing for you x

Well nothing to report! Still on antenatal ward and waiting to see what tomorrow brings. Bouncing on a birthing ball in a desperate attempt to turn these niggling pains into something productive. Poor dh is sleeping in the worlds most uncomfortable chair - he refused to go home bless him, just in case. The eternal optimist! I would just like to make some progress and actually get baby on his way!

Goodness that sproglet is making you wait, I bet he'll be more than worth it though.

Firsttimemom2013 · 23/10/2013 09:28

Hope today brings baby to you! Good luck xxxx

Ginnytonic82 · 23/10/2013 15:44

Really didn't think I'd be saying this now but unbelievably still nothing. I've had more painful contractions since around 10 this morning but they're disappearing now Sad. They decided not to give me the gel because of the aforementioned contractions to avoid over stimulation. I am gutted. Feel like a failure. I really believed that we would see some sign today. The hospital have had a few emergencies today and as a result say they can't move me to the birthing suite to try the drip . So I'm just sat here feeling like crap watching women (10 plus now) come in then go off and have their babies. People keep ringing and texting to see how we are doing and I can't even face answering anymore. On top of that I am terrified of the complications that can happen in childbirth and I'm convinced the longer I'm left here like this it will be a more and more difficult and dangerous birth.

Sorry for com

Posted too soon - I wanted to say sorry for complaining but I really am so frustrated. Poor Dh had popped home for a shower, he is so optimistic and takes every twinge as I sign baby is almost here. I don't have the heart to keep telling him that his wife is a useless mess who can't give birth.

Aw Ginny, stop giving yourself such a hard time! The baby will definitely definitely come out one way or the other eventually! It's not anything you can do anything about. Can you ask to speak to a consultant and go through your options? I'm almost 36 weeks myself and at least understand how emotional it all is.... but try to take charge of knowing your options, take heart and baby will get here! Thinking about you xx

Stom91 · 23/10/2013 16:18

Stay positive baby will be with you soon. You are doing your beat and that all you can do! You're not a failure and I'm sure your dp is mega proud of you.

All this waiting will be completely worth it

Sending you lots of good vibes and hope baby is with you soon xxx Thanks

Mogz · 23/10/2013 16:41

Stop beating yourself up silly, there is only one person in charge of when baby arrives and that is baby! No one has told him when he's due or explained why he should exchange your lovely, comfy, warm womb for the cold, harsh light of a delivery suite.
It must be frustrating but he will come when he is ready and you'll be wonderful.

girliefriend · 23/10/2013 17:27

Oh bless you, I was the same - waters went on Monday but no baby until 7pm on Thursday Shock

If you beat me I'll be impressed Wink

BigGlasses · 23/10/2013 17:44

Don't give yourself a hard time. It's horribly frustrating waiting for a slot to get into the birthing suite. I had a similar situation waiting to be induced and got worked up into a right state which pushed my blood pressure high which didn't help. I cried every time someone else further along in labour got taken down to the suite. They eventually took me down at midnight (after promising I was next from 6am) by which point I was emotionally and physically exhausted and I wasn't even in labour yet!

So try and stay calm, conserve your energy, and focus on the fact that in the next 48 hours you'll have your baby. Definitely here by Friday!

EATmum · 23/10/2013 19:38

With first DD I was ready to do my own c-section. Waiting for such an anticipated birth is so very frustrating - whatever anyone says about the fact that it'll happen, it seems so unlikely and unreal that I mostly didn't believe them. DD is now 12 and I still give her a hard time about it!Grin

TobyLerone · 23/10/2013 19:51
