How long after being told baby is fully engaged did you go into labour?

Hiya,

I will be 37 weeks pg tomorrow with my 3rd child.

Saw the midwife today and she seemed quite surprised that the baby is fully engaged. I cant remember being fully engaged this early with my other 2.

She also said that my tummy is nice and tight and hard and that baby could come any day now.

I was just wandering if anybody else had been told this and how long did they go after b4 going into labour?

Do you think it's still possible that I could go 3 weeks or more?

thanx.

I was induced 3 weeks after I was told the baby was fully engaged at 39 weeks But it was a first timer so you probably will go any day now, good luck!!

geekgrrl · 03/07/2006 16:38

8 weeks with my first! Everybody said she's come a bit early - ended up being induced at 41 weeks.

pinkdolly · 04/07/2006 17:47

Thanx for all your replies. havent been on as feeling awful.

Libby you sound just like me! How many weeks are you now?

I was up at 4:30 this morning, the pressure in my lower back and pelvis is awful and I feel like I could literally burst. As I am sitting here my tummy is contracting.

Thing is I cant remember feeling like this with the other 2. I went into spontaneous labour, DD1 was born in 4 hrs and DD2 2 hrs. So this is a bit new for me. How are you feeling? any movement?

MumtoBen · 06/07/2006 21:14

I was told I was fully engaged at 34 weeks (although I felt he had dropped down about 1 week before this, in fact it was clearly visible as my bump was a lot lower). Had my baby at 38 weeks.

libbymae · 08/07/2006 14:10

hello how is everyone hope your all ok was wondering how you are doing pinkydolly
i went to see my midwife yesterday and i told her about a bit off sticky discharge that i had come way the other day and she seems to think it could be a show but i'm not sure my self she is still sayin tha babys is head is realy low down and can come anytime now i just whish things would just hurry along now my little girl will be 5 tomorrow and she keeps sayin that she want her new baby for her birthday hope to hear from you all soon

pinkdolly · 08/07/2006 14:45

hi libby-

I'm still here too. Still with the backache and pains in my tummy. I sneezed this morning a pain shot right through my bump, feels very tender. I am soo tired and fed up knowing that baby is ready to arrive but just not here yet.

Dd1 (aged 4) asks me everyday is this the day baby will be here? I keep saying I hope so.

The pressure in my pelvis is very strong and I dont really want to be this uncomfy for another 2 weeks.

I hope things start moving for you soon. Keep in touch!

i think after the first baby they can disengage!

I was told to expect no 4 iminently at 36 weeks - they did an internal said I was nearly 3cm and completely effaced - infact i was told to try and put my feet up to stop her coming...which I did not do....she was 2 days early- following a sweep
Two of my others had been early.
I nearly went out of my mind!!!!

edam · 08/07/2006 17:37

Think ds was engaged for three or four weeks before putting in an appearance - first pregnancy though so different from yours.

pinkdolly · 09/07/2006 04:54

Thanx for all your replies.

As you can probably tell I am getting quite impatient. Am just fed up with feeling this rubbish. With both my dd's I only felt sick and funny the night I went into labour. This time I have been feeling it for a couple of weeks. Fed up of the nausea and constant backache, the braxton hicks (which I soo want to be real contractions!), the constant trips for a wee and the pressure in my pelvis.

Sorry for the rant, been awake since 3.45 and am a bit grouchy!

Libby- How are you getting on, sweetie? Hope your not too fed up!

OP posts:
apronstrings · 09/07/2006 14:22

pinkdolly i completely understand - I am the worlds most impatient woman - and a bit of a control freak so not being able to time and organise my births has drove me mad!

I also felt physically rubbish at the end - tired, and heavy with that awful pain under the left rib

At least you know that as soon as you've had it you'll ffeel better. Take a long walk if you can muster the energy - I'm sure I walked two of mine out!

pol26 · 09/07/2006 14:50

I totally sympathise with you!

From week 36 everyone kept saying oh, you'll be early etc... but nothing. I was due to be induced at 42 weeks and went into labour four days before... My DD had been fully engaged since week 38 and was my first.

Now I am 30 weeks (nearly) and dying to be 'due'... the waiting is such a pain... and hoping for labour just to start and get on with it rather than the niggling that you are having.

Good luck and fingers crossed your bubba will be here soon!

pinkdolly · 10/07/2006 09:00

Thanx for your messages Apronstrings and Pol26.

I am determined not to go overdue. But as we all know baby will come when baby is ready.

Might try that walk, tho nothing too energetic as I walkied for miles last weekend and have had high blood pressure all week. (dont know if that's related). So spent the week resting.

Midwife is due to see me in the morning, perhaps i'll see how my BP is before tackling anything to strenuous.
