Try this site baby name wizard as well. It shows you the popularity of names and how that has changed over time, the meanings, and if you put in names you like it gives you sibling suggestions along the same lines.

Bakingtins · 05/11/2013 18:07

Funnily enough, sib suggestions for Lucie included Alice and Ella.
Also Hannah, Laura, Amelia (really is too popular) Charlotte, Grace, Molly, Amy, Maggie.

TeaAndANatter · 05/11/2013 18:33

Thanks Pixie, but I'm a thesis fraudster! I'm not doing a PhD, I'm doing a clinical doctorate whilst working, so lots of my thing is assessed by my performance clinically, and just a percentage of it (admittedly a large one) is the thesis. The level of work is probably no more than for a larger Masters, but I get the Dr title for the clinical/thesis combo, rather than for PhD level work which really would melt my mind.

Off to start new rotation at new hospital tomorrow - preggo? No this is pies!!!! Grin

BumpKitty · 05/11/2013 18:53

hi all, still very much pg - just been busy decorating, so much for a relaxing time on maternity leave. I do love nesting though Grin

saggy maybe ryvita is a swimmer? Kicking off of your ribs to poke you in the bladder! Swimming is probably just as expensive as gym though.

janie I had nothing in for bottle feeding, I realised a few days after DD was born that I needed a steriliser to do the breast pump but it was just a case of sending the PILs to Argos to pick one up. You can pretty much get anything within a few hours - unless you are very rural. I had a pesky bottle refuser but we did use the steriliser for other bits and bobs anyway.

Arghhh names! I tried to have a discussion about this with DH and he actually fell asleep whilst I was talking!

mmm lemon drizzle baby Grin

MissMedusa · 05/11/2013 18:54

Great news, everything went well at the scan. Measuring to dates and NT measurements were well within normal range too.
I think I might actually be able to start believing this will, possibly, become a baby!

Pixielady83 · 05/11/2013 18:56

That site seems pretty accurate on grouping like names- Grace and Molly are other faves that I've discounted due to popularity/family using. Thanks for the links tins, good to have food for thought! Smile

tea still sounds quite hard work to me don't put yourself down!

Pixielady83 · 05/11/2013 18:57

Yay miss so so pleased for you! Smile Smile Smile

andthepiggotupandslowlywalkeda · 05/11/2013 18:57

Heh, Clexane - maybe Clexie for a nickname?

I was very slightly annoyed to find three out of four of our choices on the top UK 100 list. I knew one of our names was fairly well-used, but the popularity of a couple of the others surprised me.

Also, Polka, yeah, it's great. I never appreciated how the tiredness would drag me down. I have cleaned! I have played with my son and not snapped at him for minor things! I just feel rotten because I don't think I've done a great job for him the last few weeks, but he doesn't seem too mentally scarred by it so far...

GardenWorm · 05/11/2013 19:02

Congrats Medusa, fabulous news xxx

Don't panic too much about what you have and haven't got supplies wise, unless you live in the middle of nowhere there is normally a 24 hr supermarket within reach.

...off to check out those baby names sites whilst whincing through the Branston Pickles (braxton FRICKIN hicks) Grin

Bakingtins · 05/11/2013 19:21

Congratulations missM

andthepiggotupandslowlywalkeda · 05/11/2013 19:25

Ooh, I missed that, MissMedusa. Congratulations!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 05/11/2013 19:30

Yay Miss That's brilliant! Smile

GuffSmuggler · 05/11/2013 20:41

Yay, great news miss Grin

So I think baby has had a massive growth spurt in the last few days, I can feel loads of movement, suddenly look MASSIVE oh and the wonderful indigestion has started for the next 4 months!!

kjh5 · 05/11/2013 20:41

Tea your post made me smile! Are you showing yet? I just look fat - I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to get a bump or just look like I've piled on a load of weight for the next 5 months!

Feeling so much more positive about everything today. I think MS might finally be fading yay!!

Been reading all the breast feeding comments with interest - I'm going to try but would like to bottle feed as well so DH can feel involved. Also made me realise I have no idea what we'll need to get!

My boss asked me today when the baby was due, think he's keen to know when I'm taking mat leave, I suppose it's a reasonable question. I manage a small team and they'll need to plan for when I'm away. Interested in when people told work about mat leave? I'm seeing the midwife on Thurs so was going to ask for Mat form then. Is 17 weeks too early?

Miss great news about the scan!!

GardenWorm · 05/11/2013 20:47

kjh don't know if it's the same everywhere but where I am they don't give out the MatB1 until after 20 wks

kjh5 · 05/11/2013 20:59

forehead!!! Of course they don't - I was told at my last appt blames baby brain Thanks garden clearly just too excited to be getting out of work for most of next year! Can't wait to start Mat leave :)

kjh5 · 05/11/2013 21:00

Haha! No idea how I managed to highlight the word forehead there - that was supposed to read: smacks forehead

GardenWorm · 05/11/2013 21:02

Ha Ha! I initially read it as 'foreskin'! How's that for baby brainGrin

Pixielady83 · 05/11/2013 21:16

kjh I just told work this week when I'd be going off, I'm 23 weeks. They hadn't asked, but I wanted to block it out in my diary and start counting down the weeks Grin

kjh5 · 05/11/2013 21:51

Foreskin!! [sniggers in undignified manner] it may well have said that given the unpredictability of my auto text!

Blimey Baking! I just clicked on that name site and was immediately blown over by the choice! First name I typed in didn't exist though so suppose that's a point I favour of originality! Told DH and he said it was 'pretty' then refused to discuss names until after we've had the 21 wk scan and know if it's blue or pink.... Sigh!

Penguinita · 05/11/2013 22:21

Congrats missmedusa, brilliant news!

I have a related question: if you are having the combined nuchal fold and blood testing, how long does it take to get the results? And is it wise to wait until you have them before telling people you are pg? It is 12 days to go until my 12 week scan and my mother is desperate to tell the whole world, but I'm worried about doing it before I have all the results.

Thanks for the links baking, fascinating reading!

BumpKitty · 06/11/2013 07:46

penguin it can take a very long time, it depends where your hospital has to send their samples to. I ended up chasing mine after 3 weeks and had a phone call which went 'it's only been 3 and a half weeks what are you phoning for!' They came through shortly after that. You could wait 10 days or so then start telling people as I think mine said they would contact me within 10 days if there were any concerns.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 06/11/2013 07:56

It took ages for mine to cone through too! We told s few people after 12 week scan then I was all fearful that something would come up with the nt testing and thinking maybe we should have waited!

Congrats on the good scan, miss medusa! Grin

Anyone else feeling as rubbish as me?! Washed out, sick, tired, achy, grumpy (!) dizzy, headrush when I stand up, exhausted and short of breath going up the stairs. I have got iron medication for slightly low levels from 28 week bloods but not sure if it's helping. I'm not being the best mum to my little ones and don't know how I'm going to cope with work. Is this just par for the course? 33 weeks with a toddler and a preschooler? Any third time mums care to elaborate?!

Sorry for the moan. I'm still thankful every day that we've got this far. Just want the next few weeks to hurry up!

Morning all! Great news on the scan medusa!
I have appt-doom today. Went for 28 week blood tests on Monday and have an appt today for the results and anti-d. Absolutely panicking that iv had a few bleeds and haven't gone in for anti d (forgot all about rh- really!) and scared myself silly yesterday googling what can happen if you are rh sensitised Confused
I'm probably just being silly but this pregnancy has been so smooth so far I'm convinced something has to go wrong.
