Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bumblebzz · 25/10/2013 09:03

Thanks LuckySocks, I hoped that was the case. Really don't want to book it in advance.

Loved that "trump" story :D

WhatWillSantaBring · 25/10/2013 09:40

Woohoo!!!!! Thread baby!!!!!

Congratulations pentagon - that's so wonderful. I'd like a birth like yours (the second one) please!

I hope everyone much earlier on in the their agonising journey that is PG after MC isn't too put off by the excitement over pending births. I think the thread has got a really good balance of dates over the next 8 months, and hopefully the live births will give everyone hope that it can and will happen for them too.

PGChimp - I found it really helpful to remember that one miscarriage is statistically insignificant. Obviously it is a massive part of your life and always will be, but it has no impact at all on your ability to carry babies to term. I really clung onto those stats, because even if you go further down the line, the stats are really in your favour. I paid for an early scan (and the consensus around here suggests 7-8 weeks is the best time, as a hb will be seen) and it was worth it. Outside London you can get scans for around £70 if you shop around.

As for choosing hospitals? Well, I looked online at the facilities at each (I was midway between two for DC1) and also found a rating system, which put one of mine as one of the top maternity units in the country. I also googled a bit and was put off a third potential option (a bit further away but having a leading specialist NICU) as I'd read a story about how often it was closed for delivery. Also, as it was winter when DC1 was due (and it was the winter after we had the first really proper winter in ages, when everyone got snowed in) we chose the one that was accessible by flat, low level motorway rather than very steep, narrow B roads!!!

Must look up those raspberry leaf tea stats again...

WhatWillSantaBring · 25/10/2013 09:53

Raspberry Leaf Capsules dosage (from the last thread. If it worked for Pentagon it will work for me Grin)

Raspberry leaf capsules dosage is, every day from:

32 weeks one with lunch, one with tea

34 weeks one with lunch, two with tea

36 weeks two with lunch, two with tea

38 weeks one with brekky, two with lunch, two with tea

39 weeks two with brekky, two with lunch, two with tea

LuckySocks13 · 25/10/2013 10:14

Ou I haven't been taking any! Best go get some!

GuffSmuggler · 25/10/2013 11:25

Fantastic news pentagon!!! Many many congratulations.

Is so inspiring to see you get to the end of your journey with a gorgeous, snuggly newborn. Enjoy those cuddles Grin

Emki · 25/10/2013 12:16

Congratulations pentagon wonderful news xx I can just imagine you all snuggly with your new little baby xx

Reference to earlier post by penguin I'm not paying for my scans - I have a very good EPAU who really looked after me when I mc at 20 wks pregnant, so they could see how fretful I was and suggested I came in next week for some reassurance - then i'll be brave and wait until my dating scan

Well done pentagon !!

kjh5 · 25/10/2013 12:21

Yay!! Thread baby!! Pentagon just thrilled for you :) Glad everything went so smoothly, hoping you are loving spending time with your family xxx

Swangirl · 25/10/2013 12:28

Congratulations Pentagon
Enjoy your newborn baby girls cuddles

Tomkat79 · 25/10/2013 12:45

emki is be there every week! If that reassurance is on offer then take it. Every week feels like a month until that dating scan.

Polka2 · 25/10/2013 14:01

emki you have nerves of steel, I'd be there everyweek like tomkat!!

Just had one of those toe curling moments at a clients appointment where he said "when are due?" before I even took my coat off. I know I do have a bump but I didn't think it was that noticeable! I ummed and ahhed, went bright red and said May but its not official yet and then told him off for saying it as I could have just eaten too many pies!!!!! (note to self to breath in more and wear dangly scarves) He did say it wasn't so much my tummy (under my coat) but that I just 'looked' pg?!!! WTF!

Tomkat79 · 25/10/2013 14:56

Haha was that a backtrack polka...don't worry about people asking when you actually are pregnant....it's mortifying when someone still asks after the birth! I have a proper 13 week pod going on and I'm fed up of breathing in!

Pentagon · 25/10/2013 15:02

thank you for your lovely messages ladies Smile

Sorry, I forgot to mention the weight: 3.400 kilos, 7.5 pounds - and it looks like she will be called Elsie...that was my first choice for a girl's name when I got pregnant last summer (or even before that, to be honest - I thought if I have another girl she will be called Elsie) and DH likes it too. A couple of people have said it sounds old-fashioned but the majority seem to like it so I think we'll go for it

choc I was due on the 28th so 5 days early. I was 10 days late with DD1 so wasn't expecting this at all

bump I had a lovely senior midwife this time (pure luck - I wasn't that lucky with DD1, I had a rather unfriendly one who was pissed off doing the night shift and made me feel really uncomfortable) and she was wonderful. No tear either, which was a surprise given how quick labour was

On the whole it was a great birth experience - wishing all of you the same!!

anda, gary so good to hear from you! I can't believe your little ones are 2 months old already!

IBelieveInPink · 25/10/2013 16:46

Pentagon - I think Elsie is a lovely name. So pretty. And yes, was popular a few years ago, but those style of names are coming back to popularity so will be popular 'again' if you see what I mean.

7.5 pounds is a lovely size too. Not hippo like at all

How has dd1 taken to the new arrival?

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 25/10/2013 16:52

oh pentagon i LOVE the name Elsie, such a pretty, classic, girly name :) love it!!!!! good work!!! xxx

RainbowConnections · 25/10/2013 17:02

Congratulations Pentagon. Elsie is a lovely name.

Penguinita · 25/10/2013 17:53

I just told he nurse the pain had eased off. I was too embarrassed to tell her it was just windy pops! I'm not having baked beans for tea again for seven months now! Grin

Elsie is a beautiful name pentagon , my nanna's sister was called Elsie and she was a really lovely lady.

andadietcoke · 25/10/2013 18:11

tomkat yep. I had a prescription a few weeks ago and tried to hand over my maternity exemption certificate card. The pharmacist just gestured at my stomach and told me it was okay, as she 'could see'. The babies were outside. I was livid. I've lost the three stone I put on when pregnant and was feeling quite proud of myself. Bitch.

pentagon love Elsie. And that's a lovely weight. Little, but robust, if that makes sense. And she'll be in little clothes for a while. Sophie's only just in 0-3 months (and a lot of them don't fit her) and she was 7lb13 when she was born.

GardenWorm · 25/10/2013 18:36

Ooh I heart Elsie. Is it just me that thinks its rude to tell someone you think their name choice is old fashioned? DP bought a name book today to assist in our lack of names...40,000 in there, what's the betting we still struggle. DD was sat with me picking out random pages, pointing, then asking what the name was, she has questionable taste and managed to pick 'Pancras' and 'Godard' but luckily followed each one with 'we don't like Pancras mummy' Grin

It was my last day at work today. YEY! Total anticlimax (but expected no more working with men!). Feels strange. Lots to look forward to though....Christmas soon Wink

Pixielady83 · 25/10/2013 18:56

pentagon I'm so pleased for you! many congratulations on Elsie's arrival Smile it sounds like such a lovely delivery. what does your DD think? hope you're all having lovely family time. You were such an encouragement to me when I was first pg and I don't know if I ever thanked you properly so have some new baby and thank you Thanks Thanks Thanks from me! Thrilled to bits for you Smile

Hope everyone else is well, haven't caught up properly really and off for a few days to a holiday cottage so may well be offline for a bit xx

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 25/10/2013 19:12

yay garden me too!!! i got a nice bunch of flowers delivered (surprisingly paid for by work..ie boss?!?!) and 2 girls clubbed together and got me a lovely little posh babygro set from house of fraser. as for the other 10 staff members, they were more interested in getting out of the office to get their lunch to say 'good luck'! got a couple of hugs though! ah well! feels just like a normal friday afternoon for now, hopefully it will hit me on monday! roll on Christmas! heehee!

IBelieveInPink · 25/10/2013 19:19

Urgh - garden and janie I am soooooo jealous!! I can't wait for my leave to start! Got 3 more days to work next week. Last day is Wednesday. Absolutely the most exciting thing ever.
What plans do you have for mat leave? I'm planning a lot of tv watching - any recommendations for box sets? And going to do some cooking and freezing of food :)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 25/10/2013 19:27

oh pink even i'm jealous of me! i've borrowed loads of box sets - breaking bad, sopranos, the wire, madmen, and i have a tivo box full of shit films :) going to take myself to daytime cinema by myself, armed with multitudes of snacks! i'm going to a nice spa hotel with a friend next thursday for a prego massage and food fest mmm! and cooking lots for the freezer and i might even buy a steam cleaner and zap this house (although a girl at my yoga class said she's going to pay a cleaner for a few hours and not tell her DH ;) i think that sounds like a splendid plan!)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 25/10/2013 19:32

oh and i am going to pack my hospital bag! also going to a breastfeeding workshop on wednesday morning at the hospital. Meant to be pretty stormy on monday morning so i think i'll not feel guilty doing sweet FA!

BumpKitty · 25/10/2013 19:40

Yey welcome aboard fellow maternity leavers Grin I'm so jealous of your plans of tv and massages. Does anyone want to borrow a toddler for a week?! She is pretty high maintenance but very funny and cute... anyone?

I sorted all the baby clothes today - just have nowhere to put them :( we still need to decorate DDs new room but I need to wait till she is back at the childminder's. I bet this baby turns up before then Grin

pentagon elsie is lovely x

GuffSmuggler · 25/10/2013 19:52

Watch out those having PG massages on maternity leave. I had a super relaxing one when PG with DS which must have got the ocytocin(sp?) going as he arrived the next day a week early!!
