And I thought I was going through the menopause! Complete shock.
The risks to my health must be considerable and the chance of having a healthy baby lowish I guess. Am about 8 weeks. Anyone else in the same position? Anyone had a successful pregnancy in their very late 40? Would love to hear from you!

Toronto my sister also had two older children from her first marriage. Both in their twenties. I think it actually was a shock when they were told about the twins on the way, but everything is fine. She had a c section which was planned. There is a pic of the little girls on my profile. Now they are both running around and are very cute, my sister does get tired, but accepts that as an older mum. Many congratulations, you will be fine.

I came back from the South of France with more than a suntan! He's 6 now. My other two are 14 and 27.

Yes, "bonkers" is a great way to describe this mad situation! DH is being very sensible. We both are, as it is still such early days. There's a few too many mentions of the word "twins" above; acquiring one additional chld to the family is crazy enough... but two?! I have read that if you conceive naturally past 45, the chance of twins does increase as it's your body's last chance and it really goes for it! Will be a good few weeks before that gets checked out.

Thanks again for all the congratulations and encouraging words. The South of France is a dangerous place indeed......
