Welcome ladies, new and old. Grin May we all have dull and boring pregnancies. Pull up a chair, crack open a bottle of (non-alcoholic) wine and settle in for mutual handholding, fishslapping and neurosis.

Oh Pink a huge one already! The weight from scan thing is not always totally accurate so don't panic too much! xxx

Hi and welcome JoJo Smile

IBelieveInPink · 17/09/2013 09:46

I knew she was never going to be little, as big babies run in our family - but that just seems enormous! Do you think if I ask nicely they will induce me at 40 weeks so she can't get too big?!

jojopea · 17/09/2013 09:50

Thanks Garden and Pink and congratulations on the scan, so pleased its alright.

Tomkat79 · 17/09/2013 09:54

Glad everything ok pink, worth an ask for an induction eyes watering at the thought of a 10lb baby A friend of mine has opted for a c section for baby number 2 as DS1 was 11lb!

Welcome *jojo, we're similar in dates. Like you I have been on and off the panic bus so many times over the last few weeks. Try to relax, sure they'll contact you soon with a scan date. My GP not budging, no early scan for me unless done privately.

IBelieveInPink · 17/09/2013 10:14

My neice was 11lb 4, so very aware of big babies.

Best stop buying cute little baby clothes and move on to the bigger sizes!

GardenWorm · 17/09/2013 10:17

Pink hopefully she will be fully cooked a week early and you won't need to worry! Am sure your midwife will discuss it with you at your next appt. exactly how big have these big babies been?!

GardenWorm · 17/09/2013 10:17

Oops cross post! That's a flippin toddler!

Pentagon · 17/09/2013 11:00

ibip sorry to hear you've been worried but glad everything is OK! I agree with garden the weight from scan is just an estimation based on the measurements, it's not particularly accurate. And she may arrive a couple of weeks early or around your due date anyway so you won't have to worry about inductions!

welcome jojo, all the best for your pregnancy!

I think Kat and Blackberry have their 10-week scan at the FMC today - good luck ladies! (my appointment was also on a Tuesday afternoon...wow, I'm getting nostalgic now)

I don't know if you've seen it but it's "jeans for genes" day on Friday and I keep seeing posters and articles everywhere and getting completely paranoid about the baby being OK...I was the same last time towards the end...arrghhhh, why can't I ever relax?

TheNobodies · 17/09/2013 11:48

How do you ladies keep up with this post, cantwait for my laptop to be fixed!

Scan tomorrow morning, not really nervous yet. My psrtner cant be there so I'm hoping I can call him up and give him good news. Can't deal with another miscarriage.

Has any other women had there early scans recently? How many weeks are yoy all? Sorry if youve already said my phine doesnt show much

kjh5 · 17/09/2013 12:13

pink so glad to hear that everything is ok with the bubba - even if she is on course to be a biggie!

Thinking of you both Kat and Blackberry I'm sure everything will go well xxx

Welcome jojo congratulations on your pregnancy! I think all of us have had the same worries as you - the first trimester is really hellish if you have had a MC. But try not to worry too much about symptoms. There are some ladies on here who barely had any throughout the first trimester and some who had the works plus everything inbetween. I'd definitely chase up that early scan if you are worried (although it has been pointed out on here before that you don't always see a heartbeat at 6weeks so leaving it until 7/8weeks is usually the best idea - even although the wait can be agonising). Hope you have an uneventful pregnancy!

fod27 · 17/09/2013 12:23

Grrrrr completely pregnancy unrelated.... But why the fuck is incompetence Always rewarded in my place of work??!!!

kjh5 · 17/09/2013 12:25

Pentagon I think the worrying is endless from now on isn't it? I have just become utterly convinced the kitten has infected me with toxoplasmosis (not that I've had any symptoms mind) but have just realised that - despite me being a clean freak where he is concerned - the little tyke has managed to walk kitty litter dust into my carpet and the blanket that I use on the sofa. I'm sure I'm being ridiculous - infections are rare and he is too little to have killed anything bigger than a bee although he does go outside... plus I grew up in Africa so I'm dead certain I must have had an infection at some point in my life prior to moving to the UK and am probably immune. Still I'm going to have to ask the midwife about it when I go for my booking appointment next week - just another thing to add to the list of worries!

Pentagon · 17/09/2013 13:31

kjh5 I sympathise! I've also been worrying about toxoplasmosis and I don't even have a cat! But every time I have some salad or meat in a restaurant it's in the back of my mind. I didn't ask for a blood test - I wish I had now - but when I was a child I went through a phase when I would pick up stuff from the ground (including soil) and put it in my mouth and was ill afterwards (surprise, surprise) so chances are I've had it and am immune to it...but you never know!! There's always something to worry about, isn't there?

nobodies most of us have had an early scan - or two - either due to bleeding or too much worrying after a previous miscarriage or missed miscarriage. I'm 33 weeks at the moment (there's a list of our EDDs and history at the beginning of the thread) and had scans at 6 and 10 weeks after 2 MMCs (not in a row, I had my DD between the two). How about you? All the best for your scan tomorrow!!

fod what happened at work?

Tomkat79 · 17/09/2013 13:34

Risk is very low kjh. Our kitten is 7 months old and he eats a raw meat diet so have had my TP panic. Very very hard to get and only 5% chance of passing it onto baby in first 12 weeks anyway.

My boobs have stopped hurting. Worry worry worry. Where's my off switch!?!

BumpKitty · 17/09/2013 13:43

Blimey ibip at least you know she is going to be a good healthy weight! What position is she in? I'm getting prods and kicks all over the place so I have no idea if my one has got herself in to a better position yet.

Big wave to everyone else, especially everyone having worries (realises that means most of us!)

TheNobodies · 17/09/2013 14:03

Pentagon Did you see a heartbeat at your six week scan? Are you having a boy, girl or suprise? Glad everything has gone well for you, all these ladues deserve a healthy baby.

I'm not sure of mu dates, I cant really remenber the first date of ny last period it was early August and my cycle ranges from 28-35 days so I'm between 5-6 weeks. Didn't want a scan this early because if I'm only 5 weeks then there probably wont be a heart beat Sad I saw a hb at 5+5 with my 2nd miscarriage but never saw one with my most recent. But I bled before both so positive vibes!

IBelieveInPink · 17/09/2013 14:07

Bump - she is currently lying sideways! Not very helpful to anyone, and if she stays like that will definitely be a c section! I am also getting kicks all over (today, not yesterday, oh nooooo) as I have legs to the left of me, and arms to the right (ooh like the song - stuck in the middle with yooooou)
Now going to go and hunt down that spinning babies website!

kjh5 · 17/09/2013 14:08

Thanks Tomkat I just found a website with some realistic stats about it and was reassured :) Today's panic over and done with!

fod27 · 17/09/2013 16:27

Hi Pentagon I had a meeting with my manager about a demonstration I observed at work as I was really concerned that my colleague wasn't teaching the topic according to the guidelines - my manager wanted me to bring it up in a staff meeting - i refused as I felt it would undermine him. My manager agrees to discuss it with him one to one, he then approached me about it admitting he didn't know what he was doing but that he was sure he was right eyc

I looked it up on the standards and it states that we have to simulate a working environment and as I have ten years experience in my area of specialism and I teach workbased learners I opted to teach them the most current techniques.... He then had the friggin nerve to ask a student if he was right infront of my group!!!! Apparently this student owns a business (anyone with money can achieve that) my students complained to me about the way they were being taught and told me what had happened. I asked the students who did work in the industry how their employers had taught them this topic ... Fancy bloody that!!! I was right!

My manager then bollocked me in the staff room infront of easily 50 lecturers! Then said naff all about his behaviour! (this staff member has also gotten pissed on a college trip with under aged students!) he didn't even get a warning!

fod27 · 17/09/2013 16:30

I've since been to HR to record my pregnancy (I've applied for a position at work and I'm showing) so I want it all on record because in all honesty I feel completely discriminated against and at least with pregnancy in the mix it'll be taken seriously.... Just sooo fuckin angry about the way it's been handled, my humiliation and how I was questioned and not him!.... Pretentious little prick!

BumpKitty · 17/09/2013 16:35

Ah yes ibip the joy of a transverse baby. Handstands in the swimming pool for you then Grin

shellsocks · 17/09/2013 16:43

Wow pink what a 24 hours! Glad everything was ok Smile

If its any reassurance DS was estimated as huge (I was really big and we also have 10lbers in our family) and he was only 8.8lb Smile I therefore only had 0-3m babygrows and vests in with me and they were too big so was a mad rush to buy and wash some new born size so take some just in case!

He was also transverse at this stage but moved head down by my due date....he then moved back to back when I went into labour but that's another issue Grin I think this one may have moved sideways from head down yesterday tho, but it's hard to tell what's what!

Pixielady83 · 17/09/2013 17:08

hi ladies, just been catching up. Welcome new ladies Smile

pink glad your worry has been relieved, as you say little monkey! I would definitely be asking for an induction at 40wks if I were you. A friend of mine had an 11lbr after being left to go overdue and was told the hospital should never have let her get that big basically.

kjh sorry you had a horrible wkd but really glad all was well with your little one. kat and blackberry hope scans have gone ok today.

saggy and total I haven't read far enough back to see if you've had any further tests or results but I've been thinking about you both.

rock can't believe you've felt external kicks already that's amazing! I felt a lot of movements yesterday but not many today, which stressed me out a bit but I think it can be quite irregular at this stage? generally I am feeling far more posifrickingtivity with just the occasional freak out so I guess things are improving Grin

I looked at the March thread thinking of joining the other day but got totally freaked out by a big Gina ford debate, brought back memories of my last group! I really want to chat about mundane preggo related stuff but I don't think I can go through all the big debates again! my approach last time was to muddle along and see what suited DD and us best. I didn't have a massive philosophy just picked bits and pieces up along the way. So I think I might just keep blethering away here for now if thats ok Grin

Pentagon · 17/09/2013 17:09

fod I'm sorry you have to put up with all this crap! Totally unacceptable behaviour by your manager Shock no wonder you're upset...try not to stress about it (easier said than done, I know) you should be calm for your baby's sake!

nobodies I didn't have an early scan with either of my 2 MMCs. With DD I went for a scan at 5w 2d (my GP sent me for a scan too early - my cycle was 35 days but no one asked me/paid attention to what I was saying) We didn't see a heartbeat. We went back a week later (horrible wait, I couldn't help thinking that I had another MMC) and we saw the heartbeat - I was 6w 2d. With this pregnancy, I had a scan at 6w exactly and we saw a heartbeat which was a wonderful surprise (I wasn't too sure of my dates, was convinced it'd be too early again and I'd have to go back in a week's time - I'm having a girl by the way! Smile). Good luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes!

fod27 · 17/09/2013 17:17

Thanks pentagon I feel much better now I have a
