Is an 'all out front' bump always a boy?

I'm 20 weeks and am already being told by loads of people that it must be a boy because my bump is all out the front and you can't tell I'm pg from behind. We did not want to know at scan, but now feel like we are being told the sex. Surely the way I'm carrying the baby is due to my build and not the baby's sex?
Has anyone had an 'out the front' bump that was a girl? I'd love to hear your experiences, as I don't want to feel like I definitely know what this baby is.

Mine definately weren't - both were boys and I put on weight everywhere with both! My midwife guessed my first one right by his heartrate though and the second one was very visable on his scan!! Grin

NO - my bump was "out the front" - even after I had the 20-week scan and was told it was a girl, loads of people said they thought it must be a boy!! they were wrong - I have a beautiful baby girl!

A friend of mine had an extremely all out front bump (you honestly couldn't tell she was pregnant if you looked at her head on or from the back) and a girl. Her second pregnancy was less all out front and a boy.

I had an all over the place bump (you could tell I was pregnant from the next county) and a boy.

CountessDracula · 19/06/2006 17:08

Mine was all upfront and I was told the same as you

I had a girl!

hi there im 29 weeks and found out two months ago i am having a girl and my bump is all out front and people tell me i dont look pregnant from behind!!some people told me i was DEFINATELY having a boy others said i was DEFINATELY having a girl so i wouldnt listen!!! i personally think its all nonsense....i even read in my book "what to expect when youre expecting" which is brilliant by the way that how you carry is definately all to do with height, build, weight etc and how you were before you were pregnant.i was very skinny before and i am quite tall..i think the taller you are the more room baby has to grow upwards hence less of an outward bump etc etc.....it all depends on you!!! so i would say your chances of having a boy are just as much as having a girl......hope that helps!!! x

Both of mine were at the front, both girls.

zippy539 · 19/06/2006 18:53

Nope. I was a lardy arse with ds and all out front with dd.

Dior · 19/06/2006 19:01

No, I was a blimp.

TooTicky · 19/06/2006 19:04

It's just something people say because they've heard other people say it. Not reliable at all. Enjoy the mystery!

sugarfree · 19/06/2006 19:06

Load of old twaddle!
I've got three boys and carried each one differently. In all three pregnancies I was told,"oh that's definately a boy/girl,you're all out front/very low/very high/whatever their particular belief was"
Total nonsense.

trinityrhino · 19/06/2006 19:06

I have 2 girls, they were'all infront bumps'
I just carry like that.

biglips · 19/06/2006 19:07

everyone was convinced i was having a boy cos i was all front and high... but they were all shocked when i had a girl Smile

biglips · 19/06/2006 19:08

but my friend was exactly the same as me and had a boy

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 19:10

Have to say I think its rubbish too.

If you don't carry out front where do you carry??
Its such a daft thing to say.

NomDePlume · 19/06/2006 19:10

No way.

It all depends on your body shape, fitness/tone levels and that old chestnut genetic makeup.

I was all out front, I didn't look pg from behind and loooked like I'd swallowed a beach ball from the side/front ! My Mum's work colleague and family friend was also pg at the same time (our babies were born within 10 days of each other) and her bump was all over the place. We BOTH had GIRLS.

all out front with DD DS seemed to spread everywhere..lol

Hollyboo · 19/06/2006 20:01

I was all out front and had a little dd, although everyone tried to tell me I was having a boy. Everyone pregnancy is different I think.

SoupDragon · 19/06/2006 20:05

With DD I didn't look pregnat from behind. I'm not sure I really did with DSs either tbh.

Another all in fronter here. Didn't look pregnant from behind. Looked like a walrus side on. Two girls.

bl0ndie · 19/06/2006 20:11

Hopingcat, I'm another who carried all out front and had a girl. Like you, nearly everyone predicted a boy, so it was a nice surprise to have a girl! Everyone loves the guessing game, after all they've got a 50% chance of being right :)
