Just that really I'm in enough of a state just want to pick one up, go to a self serve checkout and walk out. Is that too much to ask?

Do you have a pound land near by? Or a chemist.

Auntfini · 02/09/2013 07:36

A test? Super drug but not sure if they have self service. Boots as well

officelady · 02/09/2013 07:38

Our local Boots has them on the shelf & self-service tills. Also Wilkinsons sell them but not sure if they have self service.

Notonaschoolnight · 02/09/2013 07:45

FatPenguin · 02/09/2013 11:27

Asda

runninggirl85 · 02/09/2013 11:29

And tesco too - if you buy there cheaper one which is about £3.80 - you can just to self check out x

Queazy · 02/09/2013 11:42

I've never bought one in a security box. Boots aren't in security boxes.

Are you ok? It sounds like you're feeling pretty bad

Excited2meetmyprincess · 02/09/2013 13:53

I got mine in asda at self serve x

princesscupcakemummyb · 02/09/2013 13:58

pinkpeoniesplease · 02/09/2013 14:34

Don't try Sainsbury's, you have to as the pharmacist!

Notonaschoolnight · 02/09/2013 15:09

Thank everyone yes I was in a state this morning we've been using condoms for a few years now as our family is complete & our eldest has downs, so being pregnant at 39 would be a nightmare.I have a regular 28 cycle, every fourth sat if anything I might see signs earlier, on the wed onwards but not later but right now I'm 9 days late, I know clearly that it was the weekend before we went to Camp Bestival as I was thinking it must be horrible to be on a period at a festival.

So I've done a test 15min ago which was negative which makes sense as we are careful, so I do feel better but I'm still wondering where has my period has gone!?

workingonitagain · 02/09/2013 15:32

our sainsbury's does them and u can use self service

TribbleWithoutACause · 02/09/2013 15:33

Are you stressed? That can sometimes make things go very wonky.

Notonaschoolnight · 02/09/2013 20:07

Yes I am a stress head tribble should prob go to docs about it. I've found the last 6 weeks with the kids by myself v hard

Hope you're OK. I was 9 days late over the summer too and joked that it was the stress of having the DC at home... Within 5 minutes of testing (I got the test from Boots off the shelf) AF arrived. Big relief. Hope all well with you.

Anothermrssmith · 02/09/2013 21:10

Stress can knock my cycle out of sync, even if it doesn't normally affect yours it can still happen suddenly.

I know what you mean about putting them through self service, hubby and I were trying so I went through a period of buying tests every few months (and stocking up when I saw them on offer) and there was one occasion when the checkout girl scanned some through, gave me a knowing look and asked if it was a good thing or a bad thing! Now I'm not an overly private person can you imagine if I was a scared young girl in a potentially bad situation how that would have made me feel?

Choccy84 · 02/09/2013 21:14

It's amazing what can affect your cycle so stress could def be the cause. I was once 14 days late after I flew to America. Apparently plane travel and jet lag can cause this but I'd never have guessed.

Capitola · 02/09/2013 21:16

Menopause? Sorry, but it's possible.

Kidsarekarma · 02/09/2013 21:32

Yes to possible menopause - my periods were all over the place at your age and I had my last one at 40.

LeGavrOrf · 02/09/2013 21:40

If you don't want to go to a shop, amazon sell them and I you have the quicker delivery you could order them now for delivery Wednesday.

LeGavrOrf · 02/09/2013 21:41

And my periods are all over the shop (every six weeks ish, and sometimes skipping a month) and I am 35. Spoke to a nurse today who says I could be peri menopausal (groovy)

Notonaschoolnight · 02/09/2013 22:14

Menopause did cross my mind too, not something I know much about, my main concern now is I suffer from pmt pretty badly for 2 weeks out of my usual 4 so starting a period brings me physical and mental relief I've not had that yet and god knows when I will and I'd hate to think that this wasn't going to be a one off.

Anothermrssmith exactly I'm a private person mumsnet knows way more about me that people in RL I prefer it that way, recently in morrisons I bought condoms and the cashier commented on what a good offer it was and to be honest I was mortified just with that, so there was no way I was taking a pregnancy test to a special till.

Thanks for your advice everyone, I'm going to try my best to take my mind off this in the hope that stopping stressing might help

Do they ask for proof of age in asda self check outs for a pregnancy test?
