I take it back, this says 13 weeks!

Thundercatsarego · 12/09/2013 19:08

That must mean you only have a few days merk? You going for it?

CatsCantFlyFast · 12/09/2013 19:11

Ignore me. Harmony is 10+ weeks, nuchal is less than 13...

Who can have the Nuchal test and the Harmony test?

• The Nuchal test can be performed in all pregnancies (singleton and multiple) at 11-13 weeks of pregnancy.

• The Harmony test can be performed in singleton and twin pregnancies of at least 10 weeks’ gestational age. This test is not for detection of partial trisomies.

I'm going to ring tomorrow I think

Thundercatsarego · 12/09/2013 19:14

Ahh that's cool. Gives you more time then

That makes sense kat. But presumably it doesn't tell you any of the stuff you find out at the anomaly scan? Just the chromosome stuff?

Sorry for all the questions Blush

Wow! I've got so much to learn! You're all baffling me already! What's a nuchal scan? Harmony testing sounds scary. I think I'd rather live in ignorance!

boom how come you're having another scan already?

So told my mum tonight. Keep feeling like I've made it all up though and I'll have to call her in a few days to tell her I got it wrong lol.

The anomaly scan looks for physical stuff so following your explanation kat I can see that the harmony won't test for those things.

Anomaly happens 17-21 weeks ish and the soon graphed checks everything like skull, internal organs, spine etc etc

BlindKitty · 12/09/2013 20:29

kat yeh although I'm expecting a bigger response from dh's mum tomorrow (she basically cried when Dh told her we were starting iui lol)

Keep coming with the info! I feel like a sponge atm soaking it all up!

MotherOfCleo · 12/09/2013 20:30

these guys are one of my clients at work and they offer the harmony test, they explain it well on their website for anyone after more info. Smile

Thundercatsarego · 13/09/2013 07:56

Bad sleep and banging headache. Boo Sad

PoppySeedBun · 13/09/2013 08:31

Boo thunder - sorry for you.
I had a dreadful day yesterday, but hoping for a better one today. Day off, so doubly unfair if not!
kitty don't worry, I don't have a clue about any of this stuff either. I think it comes from living in denial Grin glad the rest of the berries have been doing their research.
brod time away sounds fab. Sorry to hear you've joined the queasy bunch, but there are plenty of us here!

Brodicea · 13/09/2013 10:39

I'm just getting my head around all the tests, looking through the copious paperwork I got at my first midwife appointment. I think I'm going to have the nuchal, but probably won't opt for any extra private tests. Not sure what I would do, just going to see how I feel as I go...

Got up in the night last night and ate three pieces of bread (standing at the pantry door!), but still feel queasy - I hope it eases off next week for work. Sorry to hear about the headache thunder! And roll-on the end of the puking for us all!

Boomgoestheweasel · 13/09/2013 15:06

Uurgh suffering after a night shift last night, feeling hungover without the fun that went with it! Still, on the bright side, I've delivered all the babies I have to deliver so that's all course requirements fulfilled now Grin

Sorry for anyone else feeling pants.

I've been a very naughty Boom and had a go with the full-strength work doppler last night Blush. At least one very faint but definitely there little heartbeat, no idea how you'd tell if there are two separate ones at this stage!

Tests wise, we're having the nuchal but because of twins can't have the blood bit. Have I said that before? Harmony is £750 here (?? I think, at least where I've found it at 'thisismy') and no way we could afford it!

Brodicea · 13/09/2013 18:11

Well done boom - I take it your training to be a midwife? very handy to have access to the doppler!

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/09/2013 18:19

Boom the price variances for Harmony are massive across different clinics

BelissimaLol · 13/09/2013 19:03

Congratulations boom! I had my bang delivered by a student mw who needed another 14 to complete what she needed and she was lovely!
Think I would be playing with all sorts of equipment if I were you GrinGrinGrin

BelissimaLol · 13/09/2013 19:04

My bang????? My baby hahaha

Tallyra · 13/09/2013 19:16

I've missed so much and the app has skipped from the 5th to yesterday but wow! hi kitty and twins boom?
I haven't been in hospital since Tuesday but not felt up to looking at screens. I'm covered in bruises from needles and throwing up all the time, and to top it off I got cellulitis from a drip site, but that's gone now.
scan this week was fine. I have another on Tuesday. I feel like crap Sad

CatsCantFlyFast · 13/09/2013 19:50

Oh Tally poor poor you. How far along are you now? Is there anything the berries could do to help or make it better? That baby owes you big style Grin ((hugs))

Boomgoestheweasel · 13/09/2013 20:10

Tally!! Good to see you, so sorry you're still feeling like crap but glad your little Tally is ok. How far on are you now, is there any sort of end in sight?

Brod yes a midwife, now officially! Just waiting for my classification. Students are awesome lol, I'd always want one looking after me - more time to give than midwives Hmm

4boysthatilove · 13/09/2013 20:32

Hi just to let you know that I had my baby on Monday 9th at just before midnight. He was my 5th boy and ignore anyone who says labours get quicker - number 4 was 4 hrs this one a marathon 16 hours, and if that wasn't enough, a PPH which saw me in theatre. Won't post anymore on that right now, don't want to scare any ladies in waiting. Having had a non eventful pregnancy (only found out I was expecting at 22 weeks!) I guess I wasn't going to escape scot free this time! Anyway, we are all fine, baby doesn't have a name yet, he was a good 8lb 13oz at birth and I am turning 47 in January - not bad for an old one!! Good luck to everyone else about to have their babies xxx

Brodicea · 13/09/2013 20:36

Poor you tally but I'm glad the bean is okay.

That's good 4boys - I think you're a bit ahead most of us on this thread as we're all expecting our first - still, congrats.
