Hello everyone, I need some advice or reassurance or anything really to try and make me feel better Sad

I had a reassurance scan yesterday which showed a lovely strong heartbeat and the sonographer was really happy with everything. I'm dated at 7wks and 3 days.

However, I woke up this morning with a stomach ache and now I'm having spotting Sad I thought I saw a bit of blood in my underwear when I went to have a wee, and after I wiped there was definite pink streaking. I have since gone the loo twice and the same thing happened both times.

I rang my Community Midwife who told me to go and see my GP as he will refer me to the EPU if he is concerned.

I have got my appointment in an hour and I'm so scared. This time yesterday I had just left my scan appointment on cloud 9 and now, 24 hours later I'm scared I've lost the baby.

Thanks everyone,

I had the scan done at a different hospital to the one I'm actually having the baby at and the midwife wasn't very impressed when I told her. She was ranting on about how my GP was wrong to send me there and not the other one, how it causes financial strains, and then said that she is going to complete an incident form about it all. She was quite abrupt in some ways too, making little comments about my general health that weren't said very tactfully and giving me certain 'looks'. I'm glad I'm not having the baby there!!

It was one of the hospitals included in the Government's Special Measures though Hmm

Just before we left she gave me the number for the EPAU at the hospital where I will be giving birth and told me to go there if it happens again Smile

It was nice getting another scan photo though, I'm only 7+5 and have 3 pictures already Smile. Hubby has told me that he will treat me to another private one again further into the pregnancy but I think he said that because he was so happy and relieved, I'm sure he will change his mind when he sees the prices Smile

Sorry you had such an abrupt midwife, but at least you are going elsewhere to give birth!

rachyconks · 16/08/2013 18:20

Great news! I had exactly the same with my last pregnancy for a couple of weeks around the same time and it turned out to be a bit of erosion round my cervix caused by the pregnancy. Nothing to worry about. Had a normal pregnancy, labour & birth after that and DD is now 8 months!

pizzaqueen · 16/08/2013 19:32

great news! so pleased it was a good outcome for you. Thanks

Writerwannabe83 · 16/08/2013 19:51

Just been to the toilet and there was some brown blood in my underwear and on the toilet paper after wiping Hmm

Am I just supposed to assume everything is still ok??

unless it gets heavy or fresh red I'd just carry on as usual. Call the epu if you are really worried.

As your scan was fine it probably is 'one of those things' but even if it is the worst happening there's nothing you can do really but let nature take its course.

try not to worry. be good to yourself.

Writerwannabe83 · 16/08/2013 20:20

Thanks Pizza - I will just see how it goes. I have been up on my feet a lot today so maybe that's why it has started again. I think I will take it super-duper easy over the weekend. At least it is still brown and not fresh blood, that's what is keeping me calm.

I can see this pregnancy being a nightmare Hmm

Writer don't panic!!! I had my dating scan at 9 am a couple of weeks ago and at 11 am I was spotting brown blood when I wiped and in my underwear. I rang my GP immediately and she told me not to worry as I'd seen the baby that day and there was nothing they could do apart from give me another scan, which they didn't really want to do as they'd seen everything was fine that morning.
You saw a strong heartbeat this morning - that's great. Brown blood is old blood. It's not fresh blood so it could be from a number of things - old implantation blood just making an appearance now, or a leftover from the bleeding you experienced the other day. It can also be caused by things like sex. I am on my feet all day at work and my doctor told me that could possibly cause a little bit of bleeding.
Look after yourself and take care. Keep us posted. If it helps call the EPU as pizzaqueen mentioned.

I spotted throughout my pregnancy until I delivered at 32 weeks -soo worryingSad

Thanks Brew

Writerwannabe83 · 16/08/2013 21:53

I have started having a bit of aching in my stomach too Sad

I need the loo but am too scared to go for fear of what I'm going to find. I'm dreading telling my husband as he was so scared until we got the 'All Clear' earlier. When I tell him I have started bleeding again he will just start worrying again....

If it is brown though then it doesn't sound like you have started bleeding at all but rather still getting rid of some of the old stuff you were getting rid of earlier. I had this at various points through both of my pregnancies and both turned out fine.

mavi5davi5 · 16/08/2013 22:44

Hi there, sorry you are going through this, I just wanted to be another to offer reassurance, I had this from weeks 5-9 on and off, I was terrified that I was going to miscarry, but I'm happy to say I'm now 25 weeks pregnant and currently being kicked to kingdom come. Stay positive and try to rest, mine was worse when I was up and about or rushing around. Smile Fingers crossed for you

Writerwannabe83 · 17/08/2013 11:49

Thanks guys, there was some more blood before I went to bed last night but nothing so far today, touch wood. I'm going to take it easy this weekend and let my hubby wait on me Grin

Just wondered how the Op is.

Writerwannabe83 · 20/08/2013 08:21

Hi Jayne, I'm good thanks. I had a few more brown spots on Saturday night but nothing since. I went to work yesterday (was manically busy) and at about 1pm I started getting crampy/achey feelings again but thankfully when I went to the toilet, everything was fine. I'm not sure if the sensations were because I had been rushing about all morning.

Work are being very good, making sure I'm taking care of myself etc so I'm hoping the bleeding was just a one off and nothing to worry about. I guess all I can do is hope everything is ok at my 12 week scan - it is still 4 weeks away though Hmm.

I'm not very patient x
