I am getting rather annoyed at people asking 'was it planned?' when I tell them I'm pg with no.3

Especially when they say that before they say congratulations.
a) why are they bothered anyhow?
b) It's a little bit personal!

It was planned but I'm not sure I'd want to tell every aquaintance I met if it wasn't.

How about answering with a smile and a slight shake of the head, "Sorry, but my sex life is off limits as a topic of conversation."

I have been getting asked this question for the last 17 yeras of my life. AARRGGHH I first got pregnant with ds1 in my very early twenties so got it then and 15months later dd1 arrived, needless to say i got asked it then. Ds 2 arrived 3 years later, 9 months after exhubby and I got married so obviously got the did we tie the knot because.... dd2 arrived 13 months later, got it again predictably. Got it again when I had a 4 year gap and ds3 arrived, wearing verrrry thin. Five years and a new partner later dd3 arrived so got it again for being a) and older mother (then mid 30's) and b) cos I had a new partner and now with baby number 7 on the way you can only imagine the amount of times people say it...I'm and 'older' mother, I have 6 already and YES I know about contraceptives, none of them worked hence the first 5 but obviously I enjoy them or 6 and 7 wouldn't have been planned. At least thats what I tell the sticky beaks that enquire

I am 34 weeks pregnant with first baby and my sister asked me how many we wanted. I told her 4. She said 'at the most?' with shocked look. I said not necessarily (1 am the youngest of 5 and enjoyed growing up in a big family).

She reacted as if I had told her I was dying. Felt really upset about it at first, but am now enjoying winding her up further by mentioning my DH's dream of 6 children (one to wash up every day of the week so he does it on Sunday and I never have to!)

LOL - she takes it all very seriously and seems to think it is her responsibility to save me from such a harrowing life of drudgery - v. patronising, but also quite funny!!
