NEW BFP - already worried.

Morning everyone,

I got 6 BFPs yesterday (long story as to why there were 6) and this morning when I woke up I took another one because my husband wanted to be there when I did one as I did them on my own yesterday.

Anyway, I was all excited and expected to see a nice positive line, but I only got a faint one and it was fainter than the one I got yesterday. I tried again with a different branded test and again I got a fainter line than when I had when I used the same brand yesterday.

I thought the lines were supposed to get stronger???

If it makes any difference, when I used my first stream urine yesterday to take 2 tests they both came back negative, it was only as the day progressed that I got the BFPs.

I'm really worried now that I got excited too early Sad

It took a couple of days for mine to really show up with the first wee of the day. Fingers crossed for you.

fluffyraggies · 21/07/2013 07:29

I've heard that 2nd urine of the day is better. Hang in there OP. What DPO are you?

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 07:44

My period was due today but I have been obsessively POAS for the last 7 days Blush

I'm about 13dpo today.

It doesn't matter how dark it is, a line is a line and you are pregnant - huge congratulations!

I know it's difficult but it's still very early so try not to read too much into any variation in colour. The lines will get darker over the next few weeks.

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 07:52

I'm just worried because someone told me that if the lines get lighter it indicates a chemical pregnancy? Sad I almost feel stupid for getting mine and my husband's hopes up in case it all comes to nothing Sad

fluffyraggies · 21/07/2013 07:54

Well, it's been known to get a BFP on the digi tests at 6/7 DPO so no shame in that OP :)

What brand are you using out of interest?

Just remember - it's hard to relax and wait, and you want to know, i know, but if you're pregnant then you are pregnant. You'll still be pregnant in a couple of days even if you cant see it on a stick clearly yet Grin Seeing it on a stick wont make you pregnant. Relax.

purplemurple1 · 21/07/2013 07:56

I drove myself crazy with the line version POAS, suggest you go out and get a digital one nothing like seeing the word 'pregnant' to put your mind at ease.

sparkle101 · 21/07/2013 07:58

My feint line never got any darker and she is now crashing and banging around in her bedroom trying to get my attention! I would leave a few days before testing again- it's a lit of stress for not much change otherwise.

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 08:00

I am using 4 different brands Blush - my reasoning yesterday was that if I get a positive result on all of them, all 4 brands cant be wrong?!

Brand A : Dipstick tests I got off the internet = 2x BFP
Brand B : Dipstick tests from my local convenience store = 2 x BFP
Brand C : ASDA own brand pregnancy test = 1x BFP
Brand D : Clear Blue = 1x BFP

All the BFPs results were really clear and I was so happy.

This morning I tested with Brands B and C again and they both showed lighter lines than the ones they showed yesterday Sad

PastaBeeandCheese · 21/07/2013 08:07

I mean this in the kindest possible way but STOP POAS. You are pregnant.... Congratulations.

I believe HCG levels double every 48-72 hours. Try again on Wednesday and you'll have a nice fat line. You're testing again too soon to see a difference.

My first pregnancy I had a big fat line the day my period was due. This time it took until 6 days late to get a decent line. The tests are accurate but not to the point you can read much into the strength of the line.

fluffyraggies · 21/07/2013 08:07

If you got a BFP from clear blue i'd trust that writer :)

There can be a big difference in the strength of urine. If it's a bit more dilluted today than yesterday (cooler night, less sweating?) that could effect the strength of the result.

Have you been ttc for a long time?

Everything crossed for you here. But IMO i think you can break out the (non alcohol) champagne Grin

oohdaddypig · 21/07/2013 08:11

Congratulations!!!!

Stop peeing... The sticks aren't very scientific. Even in a few days time the line might not be stronger. Hcg might be increasing in your system but its still in small amounts right now.

I kept on POAS, the line became lighter and I decided I had had another miscarriage.... Well that little blighter is happily wriggling next to me now.

Enjoy your pregnancy, please...

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 08:15

Thanks everyone, this is mine and my husband's first month of trying for baby number 1.

I have got various health problems that have meant we've had to delay TTC for a long time and it is only recently my 2 Consultants gave me the go-ahead to try and have a baby. I cried when they told me because it is all I have wanted for so long. However, now the time is here, I can't bear the thought of anything going wrong Sad

I also had the Mirena which I had removed at the end of May and I know there is a higher chance of a Chemical Pregnancy after having had one due to how it strips down the uterine wall.

I'm trying not to worry but it is hard Sad

My FMU tests are always much lighter than my SecondMU. then if I dramk nothing between FMU and SMU I would get really strong results , the difference between the FMU and SMU tests would then be quite dramatic.

Having been through many miscarriages my advice to you would be firstly to take one day at a time an repeat the mantra "today I am pregnant" to yourself and try to not dwell on what may or may not happen.

Next if you are worrying and want to test every day for reassurance, then stick to the cheapest brand, test only with either FMU or SMU (no drink between) and don't fret over one day being lighter/darker. Wait for the pattern to be clear over three days.

I used Internet cheap tests, and got anA4 sheet of paper to stick them on. I would then write the date underneath and as the days went on it was easier to see if the lines were getting lighter, but as I say you have to see at least three days in a row getting clearly lighter to eliminate the other factors (eg less dye in one test or your wee being more dilute)

I am sure you have nothing to worry about and that it is just the FMU being more dilute for you like me. I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 08:35

I just tested again with Brand A and it didn't even register = BFN

Do you think I should go and see my Doctor?
I'm not sure at what stage we are supposed to go anyway after a BFP?

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 08:40

I think we cross-posted willitbe - thank you for your advice.

I did have a cup of tea between FMU and SMU and there was only 70 minutes between the two wees [tmi?)

I can't stop weeing, that is what first made me consider being pregnant.
I had a huge wee at 07.00 (fair enough due to having slept overnight) but then I had another huge wee at about 08.10 (when I re-tested) and now I feel like I need another one Smile

Holly94 · 21/07/2013 09:49

Don't worry, I did 2 on the first day I tested and the second was lighter than the first.. And the first was barely visible!
Tested 2 days later and still a very faint line.
However I am in fact now 11+3 and last week decided to use the last one I had laugh just to see and it came up dark pink as soon as my wee went across it!
Congratulations Flowers

Thanks champagne

I haven't used a Digi - I'm debating whether to go and buy one, or just stop testing for now. I'm scared I'm going to drive myself crazy Smile

My lines are definitely lines - just much fainter than yesterday's lines. Hmm

My Doctor is actually really good, I have epilepsy and a heart condition so she knows me really well. I have been there a lot over the last 12 months and she has been on a long journey with me until I reached the point of being stable enough to TTC. They want to monitor me quite closely during pregnancy anyway so it is probably best I go in early to have the result confirmed. or not as the case may be

I just tested again on the last test I have in the house, coincidentally the same brand that gave me the BFN this morning.....but this time there is a definite BFP!!!

Grin Grin Grin

How expensive are they???? Grin

OP posts:
oohdaddypig · 21/07/2013 12:59

Stop the testing!!!! Go out and enjoy being pregnant!!!!

Before the puking starts (but don't worry if it doesn't!)

Writerwannabe83 · 21/07/2013 13:03

I am definitely stopping testing now!!!!
I have no more left Grin Grin

But on a serious note, at what point are we supposed to let our GPs know? When are we supposed to make a midwife appointment etc??

OP posts:
HappyRexManningDay · 21/07/2013 13:11

I would make an appointment to see the GP tomorrow. They will then get ou in the system to see the midwife at our first booking appointment (usually around 8-10 weeks pg). Congratulations!
