RainbowConnections · 09/08/2013 15:34

Fantastic beautiful little heartbeat and measuring 6 1/2 wks. Perfect! So lovely to have a happy scan. Even got a picture showing the lovely little smudge on screen for DH.

GardenWorm · 09/08/2013 15:47

Awe fab Rainbow, lovely start to your wkd x

Pentagon · 09/08/2013 16:23

congratz rainbow - so happy for you! Smile

My 28-weel midwife appointment went well and the WC jab was fine - no side effects so far!

Lieslvontrapp · 09/08/2013 16:39

Great news rainbow!

I've got good news too and all was perfect. Measuring 2 days ahead at 13+4. Baby was lying face down most of the time so had to jiggle around to get a nice picture and baby moved in the end. Just so relieved!

jmf294 · 09/08/2013 17:23

Congratulations rainbow and liesl!!
Happy weekend everyone.

IBelieveInPink · 09/08/2013 17:31

Aw, lovely news for the weekend. So pleased :)

BlackholesAndRevelations · 09/08/2013 17:53

Yay! Congrats both Grin xxx

MotorcycleMama · 09/08/2013 17:56

Congratulations on your scans rainbow and liesel - you can relax a bit now, and enjoy being pregnant!

I now have a 'reassurance scan' terror scan more like on Monday morning because I phoned EPU this morning following three days of AF-type cramps and small amount of spotting. The cramps are bad enough for me to have taken a couple doses of paracetamol, which scared me. The woman on the phone at the EPU started doing her 'fuck off and don't bother us with your neurotic obsessing' script until she realised that I've had a previous mmc, and then offered me to come in for a scan. I have to say I am very scared, but trying to just get on with life. I so want this baby. I don't think I could contemplate or afford to go through another pregnancy or IVF again.

Rockchick1984 · 09/08/2013 18:06

Congratulations Rainbow and Liesl!! It's an amazing feeling isn't it?

Motor my EPU were fantastic as soon as they realised I'd had a prior MMC, its horrible being scared but at least you are being treated well by them. How far along are you? I've had stretching pains that feel like AF cramps but remember them from when I had DS and all was fine then, so crossing everything for you that yours is the same Thanks

Saggy do we need to add your poo baby to the stats list Grin

MotorcycleMama · 09/08/2013 18:12

rockchick I'm 8 + 4. That's what I keep hoping, that it is just stuff stretching and growing.

Pixielady83 · 09/08/2013 18:25

Great scan news rainbow and liesel Smile

Motorcycle hope the weekend goes quickly for you and all is well on Monday.

DD won gold for running and silver for egg and spoon (despite cheating in that one by holding egg on!) proud mummy, she evidently does not take after me Grin

GuffSmuggler · 09/08/2013 19:09

Fantastic news rainbow and liesal

Poor you motor having to wait over the weekend, hope you can try and put it out your mind a bit (impossible I know...)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/08/2013 19:59

Excellent news on the scans girls :)

Sorry you've to wait over the weekend motor, but nice that they're looking after you.

I'm currently waiting at the emergency obstetric unit...got scared about the lack of movement since last night and tried the can of coke test but nothing. I've been in with a midwife who Doppled me and heart was beating away (phew), just waiting on the doctor now. Wish they'd hurry up, not really sure what the dr is going to do. Waaaaaiting

sleepcrisis · 09/08/2013 20:09

Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind me joining. I had an early miscarriage in June and am now 6wks and a bit pregnant again. I am so terrified I'm currently curled up on a sofa with my head under a blanket! I have a 2yo and I struggle to get through each day with all the anxiety.

I thought you ladies would be the right people to ask about cramping. I have had a few twinges of period type pain over the last two weeks but they all came and went. Today I have had a constant dull ache since lunch time and it feels far too similar to period pain to be anything other than a miscarriage :( I do have nausea and sore boobs too, and am weeing every five mins. But I know that means very little.

People keep telling me that some cramping is normal, but such a constant dragging ache seems wrong. It is sort of spreading into my back but it's hard to tell as I have all over muscle ache anyway, I feel like I've been workin out at the gym after a year off! Not sure that has anything to do with pg though.

Last time the doc said there was nothing they could do, no scan at this stage and I just had to wait for the bleeding to end and they would scan at 8 wks if I still tested positive (I didn't obv). So I don't think there is much point in seeing a gp - there is no blood anyway.

Is this kind I cramping really normal? Thank you. I am reason through the thread but there is so much and so many names to remember, and I'm finding it a lot to follow right now but I promise to have a good read later.

GardenWorm · 09/08/2013 21:11

Oh Liesel - YEY!!! Fab, fab, fab x

Janie hope you've seen the Dr and you've had some reassurance?

Motor hope the wkd goes v quick for you. Remember cramps can be very normal (if evil when it's someone who's previously had a mc) and your spotting does sound just like spotting which is good too. Same applies for you Sleep - I think we have all been in your anxious state at some point or other, try and keep busy it will make time pass a little quicker. Plus you said you ache all over, could you be coming down with something?

andadietcoke · 09/08/2013 21:33

janie so glad everything is okay and that the doctor gets round to you soon.

sleepcrisis welcome! Yes, period pain like cramping can be completely normal. I spent the early weekends of my pregnancy lying in bed crying waiting for the bleeding to start. I later found out that with a mc the bleeding should start first, then the pain - I hope that reassures you. Take some paracetamol - now is not the time to be a hero - when the pain fades you'll feel better about it all and won't worry as much.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 09/08/2013 21:53

Rock we should definitely add my poo baby to the stats! His name is Alan, he weighed at least 2 pounds and was born at 13:05! Grin

Sleep I think cramps are certainly normal. I had some pretty horrendous ones in the early days this time. I found that if I really analysed them they were generally a wee bit higher than period pains, but they were pretty scary. In the case of my MC, the blood definitely came first.
As you have MC before, you may be able to go straight to EPU and bypass the GP if you are worried. It's worth giving them a call.

MotorcycleMama · 09/08/2013 23:26

saggy your poo baby called Alan is making me laugh despite my current predicament!

sleep I too have got period- type pain which has now lasted 3 days. I phoned my local EPU this morning and initially they dismissed me saying that they would not do anything "unless you are bleeding to the extent that you have to change a pad every half hour ". Great service, huh? Then she checked back on my records and saw that I had a mmc 5 years ago so asked me to go in on Monday for a 'reassurance scan'. Maybe you should ask for the same - it is terrible to be left with such anxiety. You have lots of good pregnancy symptoms, and hopefully the cramping is another one. We can hand-hold over the next couple days.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/08/2013 23:55

Phew, back from the hospital after a 5hr wait for the doctor BUT everything is fine thank god! No explanation but he reassured me and said I did the right thing by going up to the hospital, they ALWAYS want to see you if you suspect something isn't right.

Hopefully this means I'll sleep well tonight.

Hi sleep, welcome to the gang

Night might all xx

omri · 10/08/2013 06:45

Wasn't online yesterday even though at home all day. Took sick day off work as was seriously nauseous and exhausted. Glad I did give myself the day as nothing super urgent came in for me (was still checking emails out of guilt).
Sooo happy to hear about the good scans and appointments yesterday.

Sleep - you are most welcome here and congratulations on your bfpSmile will be a difficult couple of days now for you and motorcycle mama but remember the mantra- today I am pregnant - and be kind to yourself with lots of nice distractions.

Pixie I think you asked how far along I am now. 7+6 Smile

Oh yes... And welcome baby Alan!!!

pumpkinsweetie · 10/08/2013 07:18

ChristineDaae · 10/08/2013 09:16

Congratulations on the good scans rainbow and liesl! And Janie so glad all turned out ok in the end.
Welcome sleep, cramps are really normal. Iv had days where they are so bad I was convinced it was all over. But 16 weeks now, so try not to worry TOO much

BirdsDoIt · 10/08/2013 09:23

Yay rainbow and liesl to your happy scans! So pleased for you! And janie glad the hospital could reassure you.

motorcycle fingers crossed for Monday's scan.

sleep welcome to the gang. As others have said, pains could well be it stretching and growing and if you haven't had any bleeding then that would back that up. Are you going to try and get to epu on Monday? I'm 5 and a half weeks, terrified when I think about it, but trying not to too much. I like your 'a bit pregnant' - that's definitely how I feel!

saggy laughing A LOT about Alan.

So yesterday DH was heroic and managed FIVE mentions of pregnancy, starting with Chan Chan at 7.30am (DH: have you heard Chan Chan the panda is pregnant? Apparently she's really grumpy. Me: are you implying something?) and finishing with jelly babies at 7pm (DH: can you eat jelly babies when you're pregnant? Me: yes of course, why not? DH: oh, I just thought it might be wrong to eat a baby when you had one inside you. Me: hmm.) Have to say I didn't enjoy my next jelly baby quite so much.

sleepcrisis · 10/08/2013 09:39

Thanks for all the replies. I do feel reassured but still had a terrible nights sleep waking up to check for the pains : but they do seem to have eased off a bit now, although i have also convinced myself that my boobs dont guet anymore! Lower back ache is definitely muscular but it is quite misleading and does freak me out a bit.

Unfortunately I am not in UK and we don't have an epu. I had early scans on NHS with DS for such small reasons in comparison. It's all private here but you do get subsidised maternity care, but they have a no scan before 7/8wk policy unless they really suspect ectopic or dates are a real issue. And even after 8wks you'd have to be bleeding or doubled over in pain.

I could pay £100 for one but I'd like to wait a week or so to make sure I had a chance of seeing a heartbeat - if I was too early and nothing there I would freak even more.

Really nice to hear some of you have had some positive early scans over the last few days.. It's reassuring despite obviously having zero to do with my pregnancy!

While writing this I have had a few twinges really low down in my pelvis but I think they do feel more how I'd expect pulling and stretching to feel so not too worried about that.

DH has taken DS out and while its nice to be alone, I'm really struggling to drag mysel up and stop worrying. I have wallowed for about 24hrs and I can't seem to get on with anything. It's all consuming, this worry, and I don't know to switch off.
