shellsocks · 26/07/2013 21:16

Have we heard from gary btw in the last coupla days?

GaryBuseysTeeth · 26/07/2013 21:27

Welcome & congrats piffy!

Hurrah for scan chocolate, I felt the same...as I was expecting a girl ('felt' like a girl) it was a bit eh!? to find I was having another boy!
Doesn't help that John Lewis have some gorgeous dresses in atm as seen here Envy

Guff, I'd give them a call, just so they're aware you've not got a date yet.

Christine Grin glad everything is ok.

Talking of pee, I dunno if my waters just went or I'm incontinent. I couldn't control it & it doesn't smell like wee! Having mild back cramps too (have been all day) so fingers crossed this is it, and not another false alarm
In fact, it probably is it, as our closest DS-sitter is out on the razz tonight & not fit to drive over.
Will keep you all updated!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 26/07/2013 21:53

OOOHHHHHH! Thread baby! Grin

shellsocks · 26/07/2013 22:03

Oooooo gary Grin. I know you prob know all this but stick a pad on and lie down for half an hour if water comes out when you stand up then yep they've broken!

When do you ring the hospital for subsequent babies? I can imagine not bothering for ages, unlike first time when you're never off the phone!

Good luck Smile

GaryBuseysTeeth · 26/07/2013 22:09

Wearing a pad now, DH is on his way home (via McDonalds).
Will go lie down & see what happens when I stand up Grin

GardenWorm · 26/07/2013 22:14

Eeeek Gary!!!! Get sniffing that pad! Lol! Always found that bit minging (could not be a midwife sniffing like that!). Make sure you speak to someone though if it seems nowt is happening as they need to check whether it was your waters....but I reckon you already know that and I'm just getting EXCITED for you Grin

GuffSmuggler · 26/07/2013 22:15

Ooooo exciting Gary!

That's what happened with my waters last time, I thought I kept weeing myself in the night but then I realised!! Sometimes it isn't a big gush and just trickles...

GardenWorm · 26/07/2013 22:20

Mine was a trickle too. Got up in the night for a wee, got back into bed and felt like id wee'd myself again but new i hadnt! If it doesn't smell like wee then it isn't!

Gutted I'm totally sleep deprived due to a quick shift change over last night or I'd stay up for progress Smile

ChristineDaae · 26/07/2013 22:46

Ohhhh Gary how exciting!!!!

pumpkinsweetie · 26/07/2013 22:52

Oooh Gary how exciting eeekSmile
You could have a baby soon!
My waters went in the night with dd and kept going every time i got up from laying down, and like others say the smell will be different to wee!
You could be a mummy by tomorrow, so excitingSmile

shellsocks · 26/07/2013 22:57

Ha ha loving the maccies run gary Grin

Keep us posted if you are up to it, I'm so excited for you Smile

Pentagon · 26/07/2013 23:51

piffy welcome and congratulations! 10 weeks - you're nearly there!

choc congratulations on your scan! No fish slap, I understand how you felt, I thought I was carrying a boy this time so when the sonographer said girl I was like "eh?". It's just the first shock, I am sure you are delighted now.

myrtle are you OK? We haven't heard from you at all

gary how exciting! This may be it - if yes, all the best! x

BlackholesAndRevelations · 27/07/2013 00:44

Eeeeek Gary! Grin good luck!! Hope this is it and you're a mum again very very soon!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 27/07/2013 01:24

I think you can all relax/sleep. Naff all happening now Confused
Still have the back pains but nothing else, although having a rummage downstairs it feels like I've had some sort of prolapse (there's a bit sticking out that wasn't there earlier) so maybe that caused the leakage? Blush

Pad doesn't smell like wee...although I am hoping for a sneeze birth in the next few hours, one of DH's workmates called me a 'drama queen' over this pee/waters confusion (because I've gone in twice with reduced movements & was having irregular BH on Monday night when DH was at work). Blardy Codpiece of a man.

Pentagon, myrtle hasn't posted since Thurs so hope she's ok.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 27/07/2013 06:52

Gary- I was told to lie on left side for half an hour, and then stand up. If there's a rush of liquid when you stand up, it's your waters as they pool when you're lying down. If they have gone you obviously need to go in to be checked! Ignore codpieces of men. Leaking/reduced waters can be dangerous and need to be looked at x

GardenWorm · 27/07/2013 06:53

Ha ha ha Gary as I was reading and visualising I actually had an image of you walking downstairs and rummaging in some draws until I realised!

That bloke is a knob jockey.

You should still go and get checked out, ignore him, what the hell does he know? (Like to see him try to squeeze an orange out of his....!)

IBelieveInPink · 27/07/2013 08:13

Gary - I did hear the other day (I never knew this before) apparently there can be two sets of waters, front waters and back waters?! Maybe one has gone and not the other?
I have no idea what this is btw, I thought there was only one! But dr google confirms....

GuffSmuggler · 27/07/2013 08:56

Thanks for the advice people, so I'm going to chase up my 12 week scan Monday but who do I call - GP, EPU, Midwife??

Hope you had a restful nights sleep gary if things aren't kicking off yet.

Chocolateteabag · 27/07/2013 09:35

Guff - call the EPU directly as either they'll have you on their records or you can get booked in directly as you have your notes (DO NOT forget them! - I did and they refused to scan me and had to rebook)

Gary - yes you have two sets of waters, can go at different times or together depending on position of baby, placenta etc. I would ring your labour ward and let them know as sometimes they don't like it if labour doesn't start within a certain time after waters have gone, esp as your plug sounds to have gone too.

Garden - def a boy - it was a super clear scan and even I could see his bits. Was such an improved scan machine even from 3 years ago, was impressed with the NHS. Forgot to say it was the snotty scanner who refused to do my 12 week scan last time without notes. She did a good job of pretending not to remember us, we decided best to play along and not give game away. She was therefore super nice and gave us free scan pics Grin

shellsocks · 27/07/2013 10:01

Oh no gary sounds like this ones gonna mess you abt Hmm Hope you got some good rest last night and enjoyed your maccies....you're gonna end up going thru the menu if this drags on for ages! Wink

GaryBuseysTeeth · 27/07/2013 10:26

Hurrah for free scan pics Garden, lolz at her pretending not to remember you.

Guff, call Midwives office & if they can't help you they should have the number for the sonography (sp?) department.

Back from hospital, went to triage & they were fabulous.
They can't say 100% it wasn't waters but it wasn't wee (so only other option is discharge?), they scanned me to check water levels were ok around baby & I've got to go back in on Monday for a repeat scan to see if water levels are still good!
Until then taking it easy (back ache getting worse but not painful yet) & knicker checking constantly.

DH smelt my knickers from earlier, he says it's not wee. Tempted to let him bring them into work for TC (total codpiece) to smell.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 27/07/2013 10:35

oooh Gary this is exciting!! got everything crossed things aren't delayed too long! don't think DH would wan to smell my knickers ha!! i could murder a big mac now!

Choc - brilliant scan news!! and a little blue one! yay!!!

guff i'd say call midwife and see if they can confirm things for you. limbo can be stressful so at least they may be able to advise when you'll know\

had a lovely day at SIL wedding yesterday, managed to stay out until midnight oooh! one of DHs aunties said she definitely thought i was beginning to look pregnant now which made me feel nice, instead of fat! :)

IBelieveInPink · 27/07/2013 10:57

"DH smelt my knickers"
In any other place this would be a weird sentence. Here, it means true love and support.
I love this thread.

maybemyrtle · 27/07/2013 12:18

Gary - lol @ "dh smelt my knichers"! Brilliant. How exciting - nearly there now!! Grin

Hope everyone's having a good weekend?

Thanks so much for all of your well wishes on Thursday. Just to update: I was released from hospital last night (Friday), lap went fine apart from slight complications so I was kept in overnight. Good news is that both tubes fine and healthy and no ectopic detected. Officially "pregnancy of unknown location" but consultant suggested possible twins in uterus(?!?!) and the on call surgeon came in on Friday morning and said he hoped that all goes well with "the baby", so god knows tbh. These 2 comments balanced by the gynae surgeon and other dr who made no suggestion of a viable pregnancy. Seems like I had everyone available in theatre at some point, I was very well looked after! Back for a scan and more bloods on Thursday so the rollercoaster continues! :)

Rockchick1984 · 27/07/2013 12:46

Oooh Gary not long to go!!! I thought my waters had gone with DS but it wasn't - apparently it was just heavy discharge (I knew it didn't smell like wee but had no idea what waters smelled like) and it was about a week after that when I went into labour.

Myrtle so glad it's not ectopic, keeping everything crossed for you on Thursday. How far along are you?

Guff my 12 week scan app only arrived on Thursday for 22nd Aug so hopefully yours will be around the same time.

Felt like death yesterday - so nauseous and shattered (I dozed off twice on the couch) but a lot better today. Had the same happen a week or 2 ago so presuming its a hormone surge, and that it means baby Pebble is growing nicely. Terrified about Monday's scan but at the same time feel like its going to be ok - hope that confidence doesn't come back to bite me Blush
