Im expecting my 3rd baby next week, and have heard that the 3rd birth is suppost to be alot harder than the rest, im really nervous about this as my 2nd child weighed 10lb 8oz and i cant think of another birth being quite as bad.
So for the people whos had 3 or more babies or if you have heard stories like i have can you fill me in please :s

I love giving birth and my third birth was the best. Induced as past term, no pain relief, labour just over 3 hours. Lovely, relaxed experience.

Hopefully DC4 will be similar in 9 weeks time.

Ezza1 · 15/07/2013 12:24

Oh and DC2 and 3 were both over 10lb.

SofaKing · 15/07/2013 12:24

Mine was the best! Had awful tears with Ds1, he got stuck and I had an epi and lost a litre of blood.

Dd I tore up and had to have stitch, catheter and again lost a litre of blood.

Ds2 was a four hour Labour, three pushes and minor grazing. He was 8 14 and ds1 was 9 6 so they don't always get bigger either!

Good luck!

Nemanemo · 15/07/2013 12:28

My third was (almost) enjoyable! it's his birthday tomorrow and the weather was just like now. He was born at home in our front bedroom with the windows wide open and so I had to keep the noise down a bit Smile

NameoftheRose · 15/07/2013 12:29

I don't think you can generalise about which birth is going to be the best/worst.
My third was amazing. Although I felt the contractions they didn't hurt, just felt hot and tight. I needed no pain relief or any kind of intervention and delivered a 9lb 4oz baby without so much as a graze. And I'm a little person of 5'1".
Hope you too have a good experience Smile.

MurtleTheTurtle · 15/07/2013 12:56

My third was also my best birth - larger baby but quickest and most straightforward labour and delivery. I had a few probs with the 3rd pregnancy (low lying placenta) but nothing which was linked to it being the 3rd.

ARightOldPickle · 15/07/2013 13:05

Although it wasn't my shortest labour (that was DC2) it was the one I managed with no pain relief at all. The midwife was also determined that I wouldn't tear as I had with the other two but that didn't work out and I ended up with stitches again. But all in all a great experience - the labour with DC1 was the worst for me.

Sleepthief · 15/07/2013 13:30

False! Was by far my best Smile. Hoping for another like it this time.

Yonididnaedaethat · 15/07/2013 13:36

Nope my 1st was the worst, 3rd was the easiest Smile.

Iheartcustardcreams · 15/07/2013 13:37

My third was by far my worse! Quite enjoyed labour with dc1&2. Third was very quick and he was a big baby (dc1&2 7lbs, dc3 nearly 10lbs). From the people I know who have had three, they are quick. Don't hang around! Good luck. Also it can't be too bad as I would consider a 4th now and he is only 3 months!

DonutForMyself · 15/07/2013 13:39

No, my 3rd practically fell out! They were all a similar size (7-8lb) so not too much of a worry there thankfully, although DS1 had a huge head!

First was by far the worst, hospital birth 24 hours from start to finish, absolute exhaustion. G&A and TENS machine, episiotomy and horrible experience of hospital due to overworked/impatient staff.

2nd was a home birth, lovely and relaxed, started about 8pm and was born by 1am very quickly in the end, G&A, no trouble.

3rd started about 2pm and was born at home by 5pm with the DSs in the other room playing on the computer. No pain relief, only just got the MW there in time for me to push!

Good luck, you'll be fine! Relax and it will be lovely xx

LandsN · 16/07/2013 07:25

Glad I read this I am 26 weeks with ds2 I have 1 dd my ds1 was born after nearly 15 hours and dd was born in 47 mins so really don't know what to expect with this one fingers crossed its a easy one x

celestialsquirrels · 16/07/2013 07:27

Out of my 4 births my 3rd was a dream. 20minutes, no drugs no stitches. Fab!

tumbletumble · 16/07/2013 07:27

First was the hardest, second and third were a piece of cake. Three and a half hours from the first contraction.

I found the third pregnancy hardest though (morning sickness got worse with each pregnancy for me).

WaitakereWaif · 16/07/2013 07:32

Wasn't until number 3 that I finally understood how people could possibly say birth was a wonderful experience Smile
Easiest, fastest, the only drug-free labour, and the only one who came out "right side up". Wish they had all been that way!
(although the after pains were a bit rubbish)

beckie90 · 16/07/2013 07:33

Good to read this cause I also heard 3rds were the worst. I'm due in 3 and half weeks with ds3. My other 2 births were both terrible so was dreading this one. So it gives me some hope :) x

50shadesofvomit · 16/07/2013 07:33

I've never heard that.
First birth- epidural 6 hours 7lb6
Second birth- epidural 5 hours 8lb1
Third birth- no pain relief 30 minutes 6lb13

lottieandmia · 16/07/2013 07:37

My 3rd labour was by far the easiest (and quickest!)

claudedebussy · 16/07/2013 07:39

my third was easiest and quickest, and no stitches!

lisaleigh1986 · 16/07/2013 08:26

Look forward to reading your update soon then Lisa :) this thread has definitely made me feel better x

WinkyWinkola · 16/07/2013 10:18

My 3rd and 4th were fine. As was my 2nd.

But I was shocked by the after pains with my 3rd and 4th.

They were worse than labour itself and apparently they get worse until baby no. 6 when they plateau. Not that I'm planning on more dcs!

chickabilla · 16/07/2013 10:20

My first was awful but second and third fine, third was much quicker though!

belatedmaybe · 16/07/2013 11:00

My third was lovely, not as good as my fourth which was amazing but it was easy, relaxed and generally quite a pleasant experience (as far as these things can be! )
Good luck Smile

SourSweets · 16/07/2013 12:08

No direct experience but my mum had 4 and she said the third, although biggest (over 11lbs!!) was by far the easiest. She just thought she'd done a poo, when actually it was my sister's head.
