Im expecting my 3rd baby next week, and have heard that the 3rd birth is suppost to be alot harder than the rest, im really nervous about this as my 2nd child weighed 10lb 8oz and i cant think of another birth being quite as bad.
So for the people whos had 3 or more babies or if you have heard stories like i have can you fill me in please :s

My MW told me that the 3rd wouldn't necessarily be quicker than the 2nd as your muscles were more stretched and wouldn't work as efficiently.

My 3rd wasn't the worst, but wasn't the easiest or quickest. It was the best in that it was a home delivery.

The midwife at my second birth told me that 3rd births were ALWAYS the worst. I believed her, thinking that midwives must know about this.

I spent my whole 3rd pregnancy worrying about it... And the birth was by far, the easiest of the 3. No pain relief, just popped out easily in under an hour. No stitches. I was there and back from hospital in just a few hours.

3rd by far the best. by a million miles.

gintastic · 16/07/2013 23:18

3rd was different but not worst. 45min start to finish :-) she was 8lbs13 as well...

False. 3rd birth was the quickest and easiest, by a long way. 2nd was the most troublesome.

My third was the worst pregnancy but second quickest birth, only just got to hospital in time and only had time for a couple of puffs of entinox and there he was!
My second birth was hardest because it was very long but more due to old fashioned midwife not letting me move or have gas and air.
Fourth was very easy and quick but scariest as was just Dh and me, the paramedic came in at the last minute and caught him!

3rd was so quick I could have blinked and missed it! Smile

my mw told me this and I was quite annoyed- she's told me twice now as she'd obviously forgotten she'd told me before. She said ooh third babies can be a bit tricky, the labour isn't always straightforward. I thought what a crock of ... and also thought it wasn't very useful to tell me this so I have something else to worry about!

I don't see how it can be true though I have heard after pains can be worse with subsequent births but the hard work is over by then so I'm not worried about that really.

good luck!

1st birth- about 7 hours, ds was 6lb 2, I needed stitches to a near 3rd deg tear.
2nd birth - 2 hours, dd 9lb, needed stitches for small tear, I was a bit shocked at speed of labour & delivery, MW nearly didn't make it (HB).
3rd birth, about 4 hours including a couple of hours of gentle contractions (which were welcome after my scary fast second birth!), dd2 was 9lb, no stitches.
So my third was my best birth all things considered Smile

My third was the easiest! I went from 3 cm to fully dilated and delivered in 10 minutes!
Dc4 took forever!

I'm due my third in November and am also hoping for a quick and easy birth. Glad a lot of people have had good third experiences! Good luck OP!
