Sex during pregnancy

I've been scouring the internet to put my mind at rest about this...but all the answers just focus on whether or not it's possible for a man's penis to reach the baby and hurt it....now I know THAT obviously can't happen, what I'm worried about is whether my partner's weight pressing against me (he's a pretty hefty guy) could squash my baby and hurt it. I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant. We're trying to choose sensible positions, of course, but there are still some bumpy-grindy moments which always make me so paranoid afterwards. I'm sure I'm just worrying too much (first time mum) but can anyone out there reassure me?

I'm only 10 weeks and so far have been way too sick to even consider sex, but what about very gentle sex in the spooning position? That way your partner's weight won't be pressing against your bump at all and if you keep things slow that should reassure you on the bumpy-grindy front?!

Babybump26 · 11/07/2013 21:33

I don't think gentle pressure will hurt the baby, it's just whether its comfortable for you. Sometimes DP in top works and others it doesn't. Have fun! Wink

babyhmummy01 · 12/07/2013 00:30

Try laying on your side tdt or u on top, I am nearly 35 weeks but cannot take any pressure at all on bump as makes me sick and sore so we have had to get creative

Futterby · 12/07/2013 00:43

I'm 20 weeks and doggy is our position of choice. You can always use pillows for support :)

x0gawjus0x · 12/07/2013 07:05

haha im 7 weeks with my first pregnancy and I don't even want sex!! my oh is getting really stressed about it but everything feels so much tighter down there it hurts its really not enjoyable idk If that's normal :S
But I can see me being where you are and still not having sex yet lol!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 12/07/2013 07:13

At this stage, do whatever position makes you feel comfortable or give up.

DH and I gave up about 4 weeks ago I'm 37 weeks, it's too much of a pita and he doesn't like it when the baby joins in.

FraggleRock77 · 12/07/2013 21:39

That made me grimace and smile YellowSnow, all in one go ConfusedGrin x

Thanks so much for the advice ladies. Creativity indeed needed at this 35 week big-belly stage! And for all of you in early pregnancy feeling horrendous - at the time it feels hard to imagine feeling well again, but you will: blooming is just a few weeks round the corner!Smile

YY to spooning. Definitely my position of choice now I'm 32 weeks. It helps if OH is er, good with his hands Wink

Newmum0113 · 14/07/2013 08:06

I've been one of the lucky ones and kept my libido (after ms went away at 13.5 weeks)

Unfortunately DH seems to be over excited and although he is very much enjoying it he can't seem to wait for me to finish. Blush

It feels like I'm never gonna get mine Angry

Anyone else?

Bunnylion · 14/07/2013 09:55

yellowsnow lol Grin

Im 35 weeks too.

Going on top works, if you have the energy.

Or siting/laying back on a table with him standing.

Or similar on the bed with him kneeling on the floor.

Or from behind, but I think that one can feel a bit lonely sometimes.

We've abandoned missionary as I'm just thinking about his weight on the bump all the time.

Bunnylion · 14/07/2013 09:59

newmum it takes me a lot longer to orgasm since I've been pregnant. I don't know why, I think I might be self conscious about how I look, be aware of the baby jiggling about in between us and it all generally feels a bit different. More for-play must be the answer Grin

Newmum0113 · 14/07/2013 10:13

I've actually lost weight since bring PG so feel happier about my body than I did pre-PG. it's not me it's him lol Smile

It seems he's had the opposite effect - he normally can go for about an hour if we feel like it but last night was literally 5 mins of foreplay, and not even 2 mins of actual deed Sad

On the plus side I guess he must find me incredibly sexy atm ?!?

Hahaha!! Grin

toni1bump · 18/07/2013 16:01

Im 20 weeks and still doing most positions. Only one we cant do is me lay flat on my front.

Unless YOU feel really squashed with your DH on top then your baby will be fine :) he/she is protected by lots of flesh and organs so dont worry!

obviously just do what feels most comfortable. I find me on top the easiest :) and doggy (if im feeling generous) haha. Just case we're big preggy heffas doesnt mean we cant enjoy sex like we used to :D x

cantdecideonanewname · 18/07/2013 22:16

I'm getting quite sexually frustrated now, 35 weeks and I can't reach orgasm anymore because the bump gets in the way of the position I need. DH has said it just feels wrong to have sex with me from behind while I'm pregnant wtf. We do the spooning position but it doesn't really do much for me.

With my last pregnancy I found it much easier to orgasm than usual, haven't been so lucky this time.

The baby will be fine just do whats comfortable for you.

Newmum0113 · 19/07/2013 00:56

cantdecide have you ever tried a bullet - you can get them from Ann Summers - my DH bought me one for Xmas (wtf!) and it can be fun to use during sex.

I felt really embarrassed at first but when you're frustrated you'll try almost anything!

cantdecideonanewname · 19/07/2013 09:55

Newmum No I haven't, will have a look at it, thanks.

toni1bump · 19/07/2013 11:06

Cantdecide, newmum . . . I swear by mine! highly reccoment. £5 Ann summers. :) x

toni1bump · 19/07/2013 11:06

Reccommend* oops

Newmum0113 · 20/07/2013 09:12

Ditto toni definitely best fiver he ever spent on me lol!

My sis was telling me she got a vibrating c* ring (are we allowed to say that in here?!?? Blush ) and it makes her DP last longer and is pretty good apparently.

I'm trying to get one this weekend as I'm getting bigger and fear I will lose all inclination to DTD soon. Will report back! Wink

toni1bump · 20/07/2013 11:15

Theres a big blue rubberc* ring..its on a wire an takes 2.AA batteries. I cant remember the name but u cant miss it lol. Was £21 when i bought it. Thats decent.too! Seems to take ao much longer whilst pregnant but thank.goodness for these lil guys lol!!

cantdecideonanewname · 20/07/2013 15:28

I was looking at cock rings when I went to look at the bullets, found a vibrating one on honeylove that also goes round the back of the balls for £10.

newmum and toni do you control the bullet or does your partner?

toni1bump · 20/07/2013 15:34

Well i just put it inbetween me and him (obviously on my erm.. 'button' lmao) and it usually stays in place.:). Much easier with girl ontop. Or doggy. Obviously you have to.control it then :) x

Newmum0113 · 20/07/2013 18:14

Cantdecide I normally like my DH to control it and he is good. He's only ever stopped too soon once and he knew about it for days Smile

toni I'll keep an eye out for that one. What does your DP think of if? Mine's never been keen on toys for him but we shall see!
