Humour me - oddest/most embarassing/inconvenient place for waters to break

I live in London and every time I go on the tube I think "well it would be seriously embarrassing if my waters went now". Most inconvenient I reckon - top of the London Eye...

I'm 38+5 with DC2 ... DC1 was born at 38+5 and first sign was waters going so it's a very real concern!

So entertain/horrify me with your stories...

(Sorry if this has been done a million times before, am a relative newbie)

My first sign of labour is always the waters going. Fortunately all 3 times, it's happened at home!

High street of local town, Saturday afternoon, so really busy. A proper big whoosh I had puddles in my shoes.

Luckily I was wearing a long black skirt and it was getting dark.

On the way home (20 mins) I continued to flood leak into the passenger seat of my car. Sold it soon afterwards

That's another slight concern - cars - I leaked a LOT last time and refused to call a cab because I was worried about making a mess! (Don't have a car). Eventually called FIL and sat on about 5 towels in his car!

This time I don't think I'll have that luxury as most likely we'll need MIL to have DS1 and she's our only local friend/family with a car! Hopefully we can find a cab firm to take me...

Fab, RNJ ! Did it make a huge mess?! Did they have to take it out of service?

A woman locally gave birth on a bus a couple of years ago.!

We viewed a house (which we eventually bought) and while being shown the livingroom the vendor mentioned that her neighbour's waters had broken in that very room, on that very carpet!

And the carpet was still there when we moved in.

VinegarDrinker I don't know, someone dashed downstairs and told driver, I was two stops from hospital so I was hustled off the bus and it drove off.

There was a fair puddle... It was a hot summer and I was wearing a skirt, so not so much to 'catch' it!!!

My friend's wedding, after the officiant said 'Please stand for the Bride' still it could have been worse, I was originally going to be a bridesmaid!

In the loo of a restaurant. I had just ordered. We had to dash home and pack a bag as I hadn't bothered as I was convinced he would be late - he was a month early!

In our new bed. It was a huge amount and soaked the whole thing. It continued as I went down the stairs, in the back of the car and still continued in the hospital. I was only 33 weeks so if I had been full term it would have drowned my poor dh

I didn't get free cheese for life! Tescos couldn't get me out of the door quick enough to wait outside for the ambulance they had thoughtfully called. The hospital sent me home again anyway, as I was too early in labour to stay in.

When my DH picked me up, I sat on the back seat on the blankets and old towels we use for the dogs!!

DS was born the next day. I shop at Sainsbury's now!!

My waters also go before any other sign. 1st time was at home, went in they examined me told me to go away for an hour and come back, DH and I decided to go to the McD's across from the hospital, ate,got up, another big gush of water, mostly into my shoes, soaked my jeans through
2nd time in my friend's kitchen after Sunday lunch, scarred her husband for life

Not an inconvenient place but.... In the bathroom at the hospital. Unfortunately I was on crutches and in full blown labour and went arse over tit just wearing a dressing gown. Do nurse and midwife got a full moon view of my bare bum whilst trying to lean on crutches and toilets etc to get up. Not my finest moment :-)

the second i stepped through the doors into the maternity ward. The cleaner let me in with a mop in her hand and my waters broke all over the floor she had just washed. Not embarrassing but i did feel really guilty and apologised prefusely.

Sainsburys check out. I didn't claim free food, I didn't even pay - just said to the young lad who was working on the till "my waters just broke, you'd better get a cleaner" and dashed off. It would have been helpful if I'd stuck around to pay and take the shopping with me as we didn't make it to a supermarket for weeks after that...

In my yoof, long before I was acquainted with the business end, I was stood just behind a lady very obviously heavily pregnant and uncomfortable.

It was just dawning on my gormless self to render assistance -or fuck off (I hadn't quite decided how brave I was)- when her waters just exploded - literally exploded, never seen anything like it before or since.

It splattered up the fruit both sides of the aisle, engulfed my shoes and just seemed to keep coming as I stood there like ... . And she heaved a huge sigh of relief (which I have since done in the same situation).
The embarrassing part - she said she didn't need an ambulance & her oh was on his way, fine, but that meant we both were there watching as they roped off the aisle and had to strip every single thing off the shelves to discard and get a team of cleaners to disinfect it.

I'm so glad that mine went at home! I climbed into bed and felt a pop like my lower back clicking and jumped out of bed before they went, then just stood on the rug and shouted Dh in a panic, waters pouring out onto the rug, Dh was fretting about the mess and made me sit on the loo lol, when we went off to hospital I wore two maternity pads to catch any leakage as sil was taking us in her new car lol.

When ds was about a year old Dh and I were tidying our bedroom and I said offhandedly "awww my waters broke on that rug, I'm glad I didn't have to clean it though, I bet it was wet and stinky"
To which Dh replied "I didn't clean it, I thought you had before we left"
Boak.. I'd stepped out of bed every morning and numerous times in the night onto that mat which had never been cleaned! It went straight in the bin, sentimental value or not lol
