Humour me - oddest/most embarassing/inconvenient place for waters to break

I live in London and every time I go on the tube I think "well it would be seriously embarrassing if my waters went now". Most inconvenient I reckon - top of the London Eye...

I'm 38+5 with DC2 ... DC1 was born at 38+5 and first sign was waters going so it's a very real concern!

So entertain/horrify me with your stories...

(Sorry if this has been done a million times before, am a relative newbie)

I'm 34 weeks preggy and shop in Waitrose... (hopeful)

FaddyPeony · 24/06/2013 06:13

Omg how far along are you ohgood? What's the news?
Mine broke at home thankfully as it was epic. One woman told me that hers at broken over a fancy dinner in a 5* hotel restaurant - she had gone on a last jolly with her hubby before arrival of dc...

Ahh, this makes me so happy that mine went in the bathroom at home! I worked until 39 weeks so was having horrors about them breaking in the office, I was also kind of worried about them breaking in the swimming pool - what would have happened, would they have had to evacuate everyone? Would I even have noticed???

MyNameIsSuz · 24/06/2013 07:06

Fatandlumpy, Waitrose would definitely be the best supermarket for your waters to break. Last week one of their staff carried my basket for me as it was heavy, they've also been known to come and scan all my stuff before I get to the checkout if the baby is crying, I bet they'd be amazing and you'd get lots of free stuff.

GampyWabbit · 24/06/2013 07:29

My first labour started with waters breaking in the middle of the night in bed. It was at 38 weeks with no warning.

The next two started with some twinges, so I had some idea things were getting started.

At 39 weeks I'd had a really heavy feeling down below as I collected dc2 from nursery, so called a friend to ask if she could collect dc1 from school for me. Just as my friend, her two children & dc1 walked down the path I felt a big squirm and a pop and my waters broke everywhere! had to answer the door soaking wet, much to everyone's amusement!!! dc3 was born couple of hours later on my living room floor (planned)!

Maternity pads should catch the drips if you need to stay dry in a car btw.

VinegarDrinker · 24/06/2013 07:32

Gampy I wish that was the case! Even with doubled up pads I was still leaking on to the towels in the car.... after already soaking 3 pairs of trousers!

I have an NCT friend whose waters broke on the waxing table post wax...
This is why just one reason I do not wax!

TanglednotTamed · 24/06/2013 12:26

I think your friend wins, parttimer! At least it wasn't mid-wax.

My moms waters broke at the perfume counter of a department store. Then had to have a police escort to the hospital as it was the local carnival.

42andcounting · 25/06/2013 19:53

I'm beginning to think that our brand new bedroom and stair carpet was a mistake. ... at least we'll get 18 weeks use out of it before it gets christened! :)

BlackholesAndRevelations · 25/06/2013 21:28

How exciting OhGood! Any news?! Grin

Mine boringly went in the bath first time, and had to be popped second time. Urgh the feeling of more and more water pouring out at each contraction.......

At a horse show

FobblyWoof · 26/06/2013 09:04

In bed around half five in the morning. I used to wake up every time I needed to roll over and just as I finished heaving myself round my waters went. I felt a little pop and tiny bit came out. I was so tired and so out of it I thought it might be wee and actually debated whether to just leave until I woke up properly Blush

Then when I was on the phone to the midwife at the hospital it all just started gushing out! Such a weird feeling and I listened to nothing she said!
