Trapped wind please help!!!

I am in agony and think it is trapped wind as its really sore in my stomach. Do any of you know if there is anything safe that I can take for this? I am 18 weeks.
I am in so much pain and can hardly straighten up without wanting to cry so willing to try anything x

You could try mint tea, double action gaviscon, maybe Windeze (haven't had during pregnancy, ask pharmacist). Warm bath and gentle stretching may also help.

Had it throughout all my pregnancy with my first, always after I'd eaten my food too quick (basically all the time, lol). Unfortunately, I didn't ever find something to he'll, I usually had to wait until it had worked it's way out about half hour / hour later. I know how painful it was though so do feel for you - I was in labour for 6 hours thinking it was trapped wind!! To be fair I was early - well that's my excuse, anyway, lol.

I had this too, at the same gestation, with both dc. I found deflatine good - and not getting too hungry before I ate.

i found kneeling on all fours helped, it releases the pressure on your insides.

ALso don't just assume it's wind, probably is, or even constipation, but if the pain doesn't shift at all get yourself some medical advice ok?

Like pod I found that getting on all fours helped, and if you're supple trying to get your bum high into the air as gas moves upwards.

The all fours thing from bed to floor (or sofa to floor) was only thing that helped me. Advice from a lady on here! You do look like a crazed lunatic when doing it so i waited until I was alone in the house :)

Windeeze!! Safe in pregnancy as not absorbed by the body (from pharmacist) and its made of same stuff as baby infacol (simeticone) which is safe for newborns for the same reason.

I too had this around the same stage (now 38wks) and was in agony, made my DH go to Tesco at 1am to get me something to relieve it one night as I was in so much pain and he came home with Rennie Deflatine they worked within 2 mins and have been a lifesaver ever since!!

I am no longer sure it us wind now as I have had really bad diarrhea and vomiting all night (sorry for tmi). I just can't keep anything down, not even water and the pain is getting worse. Think I must have a bug of some kind :-( but thanx for the advice xx

Been the chemist and they have given me Imodium and windeze a d just said if it continues to call doctors tomorrow. Praying this works as the pain is horrendous. X

You shouldn't be taking imodium though, surprised they gave it you?

Says that it is ok to take and checked on nhs website and says its alright in second trimester. Going to call doctors first thing tomorrow x

this page says not to take during pregnancy, but it is the syrup.

I'm surprised you got imodium too, I thought it was only meant to be used in the cases where you had to travel or something. Whatever's causing you to be ill needs to get out of your body, not be suppressed.

The fact you have pains could be pointing to food poisoning in which case imodium not good, you need to purge your body of whatever it is, I'd maybe call OOH?

And Imodium themselves say :

As with many medicines, IMODIUM® is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you?re pregnant or caring for a newborn, diarrhoea can often be the last thing you want to deal with. However, you shouldn?t worry as in most cases drinking fluids, eating healthily and resting should help you recover. If you are concerned it?s best to consult your GP for advice.

I've had exactly what you describe twice during this pregnancy, not sire if it was food poisoning or a bug but started out with very painful bloating just like yours. I rang midwife and was told to just drinks lots of fluids and eat if I could. I was told to ring back in 12 hours if I hadn't kept any fluids down in case I had to go in to be rehydrated. Thankfully I managed to keep water down and the symptoms didn't last too long. However I was exhausted for days afterwards so rest as much as you can. I'd ring your GP or midwife though, for tailored advice.

Thank gerty I am starting to think it must be something I have eaten. I ate out on Friday and think it could be that! Just hope it goes soon as pain is driving me mad x

Hope you are feeling lots better tomorrow, I can totally sympathise having had 3 D&V bugs (one suspected norovirus) since getting pregnant, it's very grim :/

Just keep getting as much fluid as possible in.

Thanks managed to get an appointment for later today as it is still the same. But spoke to work and there are a few others off with same thing and a lot of the children (I work in a nursery) so sounds like something is going round!! Just what I need lol x

Urgh, still not better? Hope the doctor comes through for you and you feel better quickly.
