Fab scan news Liesl!!

I am in a "I have no clothes panic" - did a massive Asos order banking on some of it being ok, but am sending it ALL back Sad nothing fitted or was anything like the pictures. Some of the tops were just awful fabric vs what they looked like in the pictures. I'm down to 2 maxi skirts and a long dress, my trousers from last time are too short or too hot.

I need long straight leg trousers - all the boot cut stuff is too short me. Or too thick in this wretched hot weather

Sorry whining mare here - have spent too long in a hot car this weekend.

DIYandEatCake · 14/07/2013 22:39

chocolate have you tried new look online? Their maternity trousers come in different lengths, I have some jeans in 34 leg and some smart trousers from last time round that are long enough too.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/07/2013 23:14

Oh chic I had a clothes melt down this morning too, this heat is not good for the minimal wardrobe I have. I went into town today and got a couple of non maternity long baggy tshirts that I can wear with a stretchy belt and leggings, only 7.99. Also got a maternity tunic (7 in sale) and a long black maternity maxi dress (5 in sale). Red herring in debenhams had a couple if nice maternity tops in the sale but now I've gut them home I'm not so keen so they'll go back. I agree ASOS stuff isn't great, I ordered a couple if dresses thinking I'd live in them but they were awful and like tents. New look is good for trousers, I'm talk and got a blue and black pair of skinny jeans that I've lived in, but not so good in this heat!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/07/2013 08:30

Well, today I start the ball rolling! Going to the GP at 10 to break the news. Then it'll presumably be EPAU fairly soon to confirm we aren't PUL or ectopic again. I'm praying for a really early scan and my EPAU seemed pretty forthcoming last time, so fingers crossed. I'm not short of symptoms this time, so I generally have a good feeling. That said, I haven't got up yet, so haven't done my first obsessive knicker check of the day yet! Grin

Rockchick1984 · 15/07/2013 08:41

Good luck Saggy - it's scary sorting out the referal isn't it, I self referred but it was terrifying ringing the midwives!!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 15/07/2013 10:04

good luck saggy! x

Pentagon · 15/07/2013 10:16

ditto, good luck saggy! I hope you get an early scan soon!

The holiday is over, back in London now but thanks to the nice weather no post-holiday blues Smile

GaryBuseysTeeth · 15/07/2013 10:33

Congrats on the scan Liesel!

Saggy, hope all is going well at Drs.

Chocolate, I'm living in Tesco own brand clothing (non-maternity wear but a few sizes bigger), they're very generously cut so the tshirts aren't riding up my bump.
My better fitting maternity stuff is from Dorothy Perkins (off eBay) but they don't seem to have anything on their website anymore!

I think royal baby will be an Alexander. Because I would like to use the name!
I love James but dislike Jim & Jamie (same with Matthew & Matt).

Quick question to those who have gone into labour naturally before; what's it like in the few days before hand?
I've had really bad lower back cramps since yesterday morning that have been getting gradually worse, bump has been rock hard since then, feels like baby is engaged because I can't comfortably stand up straight/cross my legs/can't feel the head moving about anymore.
Got a MW apt tomorrow so may have to embarrass myself by asking her about it all!

WhatWillSantaBring · 15/07/2013 12:00

gary - I had not a single teeny weeny symptom till my waters went. Not so much as a twinge, cramp, show or anything. In fact I remember joking to my BIL that I'd be going overdue I felt so un-about-to-pop just about 2 hours before my waters went!

That's not very helpful, is it? But I think there is no point worrying about pre-pop symptoms that much as there is (well, was for me) no mistaking the real thing. Mine started as just like really really really bad period pains that came in waves, and then got worse. (Apart from the waters going, but even then, it was a good 15 hours before the pains started).

Don't be embarassed to ask your midwife -that's her job, after all!! And if you've never had one, how on earth should you know? Its not like most people can remember this sort of stuff to tell us.

Discovered this weekend that pg women get bitten twice as frequently as non-pg women. Given that I look like I'm wearing the King of the Mountains jersey today (red polka dots for the non-Tour afficionados amongst you) I wish I'd known this earlier and i would have smothered myself in Deet, rather than fannying around with natural "repellents". Thirty or more bites yesterday in the space of an hour, all of which have now swollen to the size of 10p coins. Actually, I think 20 came when I went to the loo, as I got bitten UNDER my clothes! Garrrghhhhh.

Question for bod if you don't mind - can you (as a sonographer) ALWAYS see the sex of a baby in a scan? Because if so, it means someone out there knows whether the Royal sproglet is going to be a King or a Queen.

DC1 was v sweet this weekend, stroking my bump blubbery tummy and leaning right in to say "hello baby". Pleased that she's so excited about it, but fearing how much reality is going to hit her when it arrives.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/07/2013 12:02

Early scan next Tuesday. I have to have consultant led care because of my weight, and will need antibiotics in labour as I've had group B strep. I'm planning on battling for a home birth and hoping for a compromise with the MLU. So, that's the first milestone moved nearer. I need to make it until Tuesday!

IBelieveInPink · 15/07/2013 12:14

Ooh saggy, that's fab. Tuesday isn't long to wait. I know it will feel like forever, but better to have a date you are working towards.

Bod - my french children book arrived today. Very excited to get reading!

Snap, Saggy - been to the GP as well this morning, to get a consultant referral sorted. It's all so deja-vu... Will they actually be able to see anything on a scan at this stage? I've never been offered an early scan by the EPU without any symptoms to show with.

I asked her if there is anything I can do/take to try and avoid another mc, but on got non-committant smiles and a 'sorry, no'. Hopefully, they consultant referral gets sorted quickly, last time they managed it in record time! Two weeks between the visit to the GP and the consultant appointment! And this time, the GP said, we might be able to sort the medication out via the phone - I need heparin injections, and as I still have about 3 months worth of the drug, I might be able to start with them asap, without having to wait for the consultant appt. Will see - the GP surgery was heaving this morning, I'm a bit dubious that she will get through it all to make time to talk to the consultant and then with me...
Also registered with the midwives and picked up the forms - again... Every time I fill out the flippin' forms and then make a booking in appt, it seems to trigger the mc, so this time I'm superstitious and will wait till the last possible moment.

Now it's just waiting waiting waiting, how I hate that!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/07/2013 14:07

good luck lovely. We can make it together. Little milestones. Day by day, week by week!
My GP was lovely. She gave me a big hug! Grin

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 15/07/2013 15:38

oops posted to early!!! what i meant was....

THUNDER!!!!! :) :) :) :) i was just asking about you a few days ago!!!! meep!!!

andadietcoke · 15/07/2013 15:42

THUNDER GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

That's actually the best BFP announcement I've ever seen!

JBrd · 15/07/2013 15:57

Yay, Thunder! Great to see you again Grin

BFPs left right and centre here, I like it!

Result - my GP just called, she spoke to the haematologist consultant, and I'm to start the heparin injections immediately.
Having to give yourself an injection every day is probably not most people's idea of good news Wink, but in this upside-down world of ours it is! At least I feel somewhat proactive Smile

Thundercatsarego · 15/07/2013 16:10

Hello my lovely friends. It has been a really tough few months. I hope I can stay here!

WhatWillSantaBring · 15/07/2013 16:12

thunder whoop whoop!!!!!

So lovely to have you here. Hurrah!!! Wishing you a very boring, dull and uneventful pregnancy.

jbrd - really happy to hear that you've got to stab yourself daily with a needle. Grin

Lots of good news recently. Must be the sunshine Grin

Thundercatsarego · 15/07/2013 16:24

You can slap me if you like santa!. I poas today. In my defence 1. I haven't been on the mc thread for ages- I've been in my own world of darkness a bit and 2. Af due tomorrow but on medical grounds I have to know ASAP in order to get thyroid checked and meds sorted ASAP.

Smile
WhatWillSantaBring · 15/07/2013 16:58

That was entirely convincing. I shall pick up my sardine and put the tuna away. Grin

Sorry that you've been in a shit place - not at all nice to have to go through, and I know that just getting the BFP doesn't make all the darkness go away, but you're in the right place here. Lots of hand holding and no judging no matter how bleak and depressed people are.

Wouldn't it be nice if the BFP suddenly made it all better. Hopefully the babies we will all be holding in our arms within the next nine months will make it all better instead?
