Oh wow so many messages and no time to reply properly!! So sorry.

My birthday worked out pretty well in the end thanks, had lovely meal with dp Smile still feel like I want to jack in my job though... Work is poop Sad

Far far more exciting: heard heartbeat today at mw app! Grin

jmf294 · 11/07/2013 18:43

Not sure I remember what DTD is!!

Why don't some people understand- my sister is 3 weeks more pregnant than I am.
She asked if I was looking forward to my 20 week scan next week. Looking forward to an anomaly scan to see if there is something wrong with my baby? No I'm bloody terrified about it and can't think about it.
Oh but it's a lovely chance to see your baby isn't it age said!!
That's not the point of the scan and after my MC I still don't believe this pregnancy will result in a live baby.
Rant over!!

Be careful ladies- heat wave warning for this weekend - cooling comfortable thoughts to you all.

pumpkinsweetie · 11/07/2013 19:45

Yay for hearing babas heartbeat blackholes SmileSmileSmile

Dtd, i put the effort in every now and again but dtd is the last thing on my mind at the moment lol-poor dh!

Just purchased a doppler of Amazon, Angelsounds fetal doppler, will let you know if its any good when i recieve itSmile, so excited

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/07/2013 20:31

Crikey! This time around, I feel much more pg already! Much more ouchy tweaky stretchy!! I walked up a hill with a small person on a pony today, and I felt like I'd been doing sit ups! I'm going to the Lake District in a week or two, it doesn't bode well for hill walking! Confused

BumpKitty · 11/07/2013 20:38

yey for heartbeat blackholes that's a good belated birthday present :)

pumpkin i think a few people on here have that doppler

sounding positive saggy Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/07/2013 20:43

Happy Birthday BlackHoles. X

DIYandEatCake · 11/07/2013 21:39

I've forgotten what dtd is like too Grin... Dp is weirded out by the thought now so nothing happening here for a while!

Yay for posifrickintivity saggy!

jmf I can kind of see both sides... I'm both scared and excited about my 20w scan... Yes it's checking for anomalies, but the chances of something being seriously wrong are quite small and we'll love this baby whatever. I'm trying to be positive (That's not to say I won't be awake all night the night before...) I can still remember dd's 20w scan, both the sense of relief and the awe at seeing this fully formed little person wriggling around in there. When you've got as far as 20w the odds are hugely in favour of you ending up with a real live baby, hope all goes well for you next week, what day is it? Still waiting for my appointment, should be in about 2 weeks... Wish the scan department would sort their appointments system out!

Feeling the baby moving quite a lot now, I think that's really helping me feel positive at the moment and making it all seem more real. Made my first new baby purchase today, a spare high chair for keeping at my mum's house, identical to ours and only £3 from the tip shop, too much of a bargain to miss! We don't need anything for home but are going to have to get grandparents to keep spare travel cots etc at theirs, as our car is on the small side and is completely stuffed full now when dd, dp and I go away, eek got to fit a baby and all their stuff in too! We're going to start looking at roof boxes, anyone else got one?

jmf294 · 11/07/2013 22:06

DIY- I am looking forward to seeing the baby as that's a very precious experience but terrified they will tell me that the baby has a condition which is fatal/ terminal.
Scan is next Friday- so just 7 sleeps.

GardenWorm · 11/07/2013 22:08

Ooh DIY I'm with you on the roof box, will be interested to hear any thoughts...

JMF I think for most people i.e the lucky ones who have never had a MC the 20 wk scan is all about whether or not they will find out the sex and as your sis said a chance to see the baby again. They are in blissful ignorance and I think until you have a MC it is hard to understand. We all know though so are here for hand holding x

GardenWorm · 11/07/2013 22:10

Soz if that sounded flippant I was writing as you were posting xx

VenusInfers · 11/07/2013 22:30

Hi ladies, another newbie here. Got my BFP a couple of weeks ago, so I'm about 6.4 now.

Have one DS 3.8 and had a MS at 10wks last autumn. I'm 41, so know that the odds of everything working out are not brilliant. Trying to be all nonchalant about the whole thing and almost ignoring it - made a bit tricky by 1st term exhaustion, early tummy bulge, staying off the booze and eating more oats than Desert Orchid so that I don't get all bunged up. Hmm

Nice to be on a thread where everyone understands what this is like!

IBelieveInPink · 12/07/2013 08:04

Hey Venus. Congratulations and welcome to the gang!

So, baby hiccups are funny aren't they?

How is everyone? Whose next for a scan? I know there is one on Tuesday- diet is that you? You always seem to be a Tuesday :) and is there one next Friday too? Sorry, keep forgetting who!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 12/07/2013 09:34

hi venus congrats on your pregnancy!

having a bit of a bleugh couple of days...i really need to do some exercise, i can feel myself getting faaaaat in areas i shouldn't be getting fat. i so want to keep my weight gain as low as possible, i always struggled with my weight and have managed to lose 2 stone before my wedding last year but i just don't want to turn into a big fatty again if i can help it. think making the right food choices would help too. everyone is saying aah just eat what you want while you can but i want (and need) to be careful. i''m feeling so podgy in all my clothes and confidence is way down. got SIL wedding in 2 weeks and i've no idea what i can wear. my bump is more a big flabby mass rather than a nice baby bump boo.

sorry that just all came out. feeling a bit sorry for myself i think. snap out of it janie!

JBrd · 12/07/2013 09:38

Aww, thanks all for the well wishes It's nice to be back!

Welcome, too, Venus - good to see another 'mature' lady here. I'm 41, will be 42 by EDD (gulp). My DS is 26 months and a proper handful. But I'm only just 4 weeks gone, and have zerozipzilch symptoms (not sure if that's good or bad). Apart from feeling bloated, but that's because I ate too much while on holiday and haven't done any exercise for 2 weeks Grin

Just booked an appointment with my GP on Monday - due to my medical history, I will need heparin injections during the pregnancy, so I need a referral for the consultant. It's all so deja-vu... I asked if I could just talk to the GP on the phone, rather than having to come and see her, since I've gone through the whole procedure back in March /April, but no, 'they like to see you'. Hmph.

janie I know exactly what you mean. I've been ravenous this pg, and put on a stone already (by 12 weeks!!!) and a lot of extra covering in areas where there shouldn't be coverage. But even though I look and feel like a fat blimp (rather than a pg person) I console myself in the knowledge that a lot of it is water retention. And, if you've lost 2 stone before, you can do it again. I think all you can do is try to eat sensibly in pregnancy, then do whatever you need to survive the first six weeks, then eat sensibly till they're sort of sleeping through and then knuckle down and shift any excess again. That's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

So, how are people generally reacting to your news? I've had a few colleagues who are a definitely snippy. I can't decide if its because they're misogynist pigs who forget that my DC will be paying their pension, that is is biology, not choice, that means its me not DH who grows him or her and that it is government policy that encourages me to work (and probably was responsible for their house doubling in value in the 90s) or whether they are one of the many people out there who have had heartbreak in the past and their snippiness is just trying to hide the hurt they feel. So, do I give them a break or do I pull them up on it next time I get a facetious (sp) comment?

andadietcoke · 12/07/2013 10:59

jmf I've always wondered if scan doom is normal for ladies who've been lucky enough not to experience a mc... I hate mine and love them in equal measures - hate the worrying and sleepless nights, love the relief afterwards when everything's okay.

ibip yep, mine is Tuesday. Always Tuesdays - it's when the multiple clinic is. Not looking forward to it at all (see above!). If everything's okay they'll be having The Chat with me about mode of delivery and when that might be - I'm terrified about it and that they might have stopped growing because I feel like I have

venus congratulations!

Hey jbird congratulations on your pregnancy. I am on injections too - clexane - I think it's the same stuff though - I think clexane is brand name maybe. Anyway I feel for you. It does get easier once you get the hang of it. I haven't had a bruise for ages. I reccomend getting your partner to do as I think it makes them feel more involved and protective. Although I do occasionally swear at him and tell him to get the xxxx away from me. Have also developed a habit of grabbing his wrist as he is about to inject!!!

Welcome to Venus too x

Janie I bet you baby has a little growth spurt in the next two weeks and you have a lovely bump for the wedding x

Santa what kind of snippy comments have you had. Can't believe people would be so nasty!

Someone said to me talking about baby names that they knew someone called their child sunshine but that was because they had had two mc's. then she added as an afterthought that they were later than mine so they would have been more upset than I was!!! She didn't mean it nastily but honestly!

So put a £10 bet on my baby names being royal baby name. I am hoping Sod's law will work for me this time and I will lose the bet but i i win i can console myself that at least i have some winnings to start of their savings account! Yes I am strange.

WhatWillSantaBring · 12/07/2013 16:03

Snippy as in not overtly nasty, but just a bit Hmm. One was referring to a garden chair cover I'd ordered "oh, is that your maternity tent" and the other was when he first heard I was pregnant. Instead of a smile and a congrats, it was a raised eyebrow and just "I've heard your news". Very odd from someone who is normally a very nice guy.

But the sun is shining, I have a new pair of maternity LK Bennett shoes that were half price in the sale, my garden chairs have arrived and DH is away tonight. (Which for me always means steak night!)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 12/07/2013 16:34

ooh betting on the royal baby names sounds fun! we have been flicking through some name books and cannot agree on any! not one. if it's a boy, i like ryan or leo (DH hates both), if it's a girl i like erin or cara (DH hates both) hmmmmm.

thanks santa and bod for your reassurance. i think i'm just having a meh couple of days with it being so so so hot and i just look like a hippo in any summery clothes i try on. bring on winter ha! there was me reassuring pink the other day about standing on the scales and now i'm having a right moan. i said to DH earlier, i wish i looked pregnant and not just fat...he just smirked :( Bugger it, if i wasn't preggers i wouldn't be this chubby so it can only be a good thing. today i am preggers and preggers chubb is good, today i am preggers and preggers chubb is good (my new mantra!)

bod i can't (or maybe i can) believe someone would say that! people just don't get it!
