Sorry they won't scan you guff, I would if I could x can't believe how mean some of the epaus are x

Might try baby love book Santa Recommended for a general advice book. The French one is a good one but more observations rather than practical advice. I love their ethos though. It talks a lot about how French women make much more time for themselves and their husband dont feel guilty about and don't make their child the centre of their world which is better for child in the long run. Their crèches sound amazing - though cant emulate that -they get a 3 course meal every day prepared by chefs!!

So came home to a lovely surprise today. Dh had arranged a massage for me with a lady that specialises in pregnancy massage. She had me on a bump bean bag. It was bliss. I am thoroughly spoilt x

BumpKitty · 09/07/2013 21:04

ooh bod that sounds great, what a lovely DH you have Grin I think I might book a massage when it isn't so hot

thanks, I am feeling better now - I slept all afternoon so it must have been a tiredness/hotness combo. Hope you're feeling a bit more normal too lucky - I'm 22+3

gary i would probably have done the same. I'll have a look at kiddicare as I need a new cot mattress, not sure what else I'll need really.

Pixielady83 · 09/07/2013 21:13

ooh i've missed so much being away for the weekend then at work.

congratulations to newbies!

and yay for good news on scans and yay to a bugaboo janie we have a chameleon which is literally the best bit of baby kit I bought, love love love it.

guff sorry to hear about how rubbish your care team is being with scan referral. I am building myself up to contacting the gp tomorrow. I don't know whether its best to go straight to mw appt or try gp. I only want a 9/10 wk scan to confirm we've cleared the point of last mc but my surgery is so unhelpful and rude usually that I don't hold much hope out either. I really hope you can go private and set your mind at rest.

jess loads of luck for tomorrow!

hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine Smile

GuffSmuggler · 09/07/2013 21:18

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I felt awful earlier but feel a bit better now.

I've left a message for the GP to call me and if I get no further DH and I have agreed to book a private one. I'm going to try and hang out until 8 weeks though as good advice given here that 6 weeks might not provide any reassurance if they can't see enough and that might make things worse!

Good to hear everyone's positive news, it spurns me on!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/07/2013 21:28

oh bod you are one lucky lady!!! i've been dreaming about haveing a good pg massage but the one place i found that does them is fifty quid which is a bit more than i can afford just now. maybe i'll drop hints while DH is in the process of redeeming himself!

thaks for the kiddicare discount tip gary. and yay for feeling grrreat! long may it last! i was looking at getting the car seat and fixturey thing and it's only £212 for the maxicosi pebble seat and the fitting bit at the mo n kiddicare with the discount. that seems pretty good right? am i feeling uber brave? aaagghhh! ooooh! 88excited face**

got everything crossed for you tomorrow jess how exciting!!

loving that article pink!!! some of those tips are so funny! i hope k-mid is reading!

happy birthday to the birthday girls!! can't remember if it's today or tomorrow? if tomorrow, you;ll have the same birthday as baby jess yay!!

guff sending you a big hug. it's a shame that all epus are different. i so hope you can get a scan soon, but as others have asid, maybe around 8 weeks might be best.

i just bought some boots own cooling spray. my des kis in a section of the office that has floor to ceiling windows and no air con. it was like a tropical palm house today, i actually felt dizzy and had to ask a colleague to go to the shop and buy me a fat coke and an ice lolly. bring on the weekend, we might even go camping!

Bodicea · 09/07/2013 21:46

Pink I just read the first bit of that article!!
Oh dear - thought to be fair the French thing is new to me.

IBelieveInPink · 09/07/2013 22:02

Bod - what a star your DH is!! And I know, that article is funny isn't it. Still think the book will be worth a read, different perspectives an all.

Janie - that's the car seat we got. On sale at kiddicare :)

Okay I am like a woman possessed. All these different sales on, I have bought a whole variety of baby clothes! I know I shouldn't, I know they could have got the flavour of baby wrong, and I know people will buy us loads when she arrives so we really don't need it, but I can't help it! Is all too cute!!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/07/2013 22:16

ooh pink now i defo want it! i'm just trying to work out.... do they fit all cars?!?! i'm having a moment.

and i want to buy loads of things aarrghhh!!!! i praise your purchases! don't feel guilty one bit!

IBelieveInPink · 09/07/2013 22:23

Janie - I think it fits most, are you getting the isofix one? but if you are able to pop in they will check. You could always order it with the discount, then pop in when you have time to check it fits your car properly? An take it back if not?

I didn't mind getting a few things but this is just getting silly now! I have full outfits I have planned out.... Argh!!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/07/2013 22:26

thanks pink. unfortunately there isn;t a kiddicare in ireland so t's just online. i'll check the returns policy too or maybe ring halfords and see if they can tell me then buy cheaper off kiddicare ;)

jmf294 · 09/07/2013 22:26

Good luck for tomorrow morning Jess! I will be thinking of you and hope all goes well and you can let us know of your arrival at some point.

Happy birthday to those celebrating tomorrow.

Guff- I'd book a private scan, I had one at 9 weeks and was worth the money for the reassurance.

Bod- your massage sounds great- well f

jmf294 · 09/07/2013 22:33

Stupid phone!!
I was going to say well done to your husband!!

I read Gina Ford when I had my son, some bits make sense, but when I started feeling guilty for not getting up at 7 even if the baby had been up all night I realised it was bonkers. I read baby whisperer which was really good- much easier- and encourages you to feed, play and then sleep and repeat every 3-4 hours.

Breast feeding is hard and if anyone wants to do I recommend getting as much help as you can from breast feeding specialists. My son took around 2 weeks to latch on, my daughter was better but my nipples were agony, and then my supply was too fast and used to make her splutter!!
The website kellymom has lots of great advice- both my children were cluster feeders, and I didn't realise it with my son but when I found out what it is and learnt to just go with it, it made life easier!

Lots of exciting baby purchases going on- I have bought nothing yet, not sure what we need as need to dig out all the old things first.

Hope you are all managing in this heat!!

DIYandEatCake · 09/07/2013 22:36

janie if I remember right maxi cosi have lists on their website of what cars each of their seats fit.

jess good luck for tomorrow, hope all goes really smoothly, will be thinking of you. My dd was born by elcs (she was breech) and though it wasn't what I wanted and I was terrified beforehand, it was surprisingly ok and I just felt massive relief that dd and I were ok. Bet you wil be sooooo happy to go home!

pink have you investigated the jojo maman bebe sale yet? Such cute girls clothes... Wish I knew what I was having! Took dd in there the other day (we have a shop close to us) hoping to get her something cute but she just said 'don't like it' to everything..! Make the most of choosing all the clothes while you can I say! Smile.

bod wish we knew you in real life so your dh could inspire mr DIY...! Sounds like heaven.

Happy birthday tomorrow blackholes!

IBelieveInPink · 09/07/2013 22:41

Janie - could try halfords, or John Lewis? They do free fitting too?

DIY - I looked! Usually I love their stuff but the sale bits didn't grab me. I am obsessed with pumpkin patch! Gorgeous clothes, sale prices make it much more affordable :)

OP posts:
JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/07/2013 22:52

thanks girls. yup i'll give halfords a go. we donlt have john lewis either! booo! and diy thanks for the tip, unfortnately the maxicosi website says they haven;t done tests for my model damn them. wish i was off tomorrow, i want to go buy stuff!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 09/07/2013 23:13

Right. This is me registering my place. If I don't get a day further on, I just want to have signed my name on this thread!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/07/2013 23:31

Saggy yaaaaay!! Congrats!!!! When did you get your BFP? Fab to see you here! Today you are pregnant! Repeat the mantra! Woop woop!! xxxx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 09/07/2013 23:40

About an hour ago! That's a good mantra! Smile

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/07/2013 23:44

Awesome!!!!!!!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

BlackholesAndRevelations · 10/07/2013 06:46

Woop woop woop welcome back saggy!!!!!!! Today we are pregnant xxxxx

Thanks for all the happy birthdays! Happy birthday to you too DIY. Flowers

Haven't had the chance to read all posts properly but second what jmf says about baby whisperer. Kind of saved me in the early days with DD as it made me realise I'd been misreading her sleep cues. Well worth a read. I didn't do dream feed but used it apart from that.

Happy c-section day, Jess!! Hope all goes beautifully and can't wait to hear your news xxxx

CamomileHoneyVanilla · 10/07/2013 06:47

Yay Saggy - was very much hoping you'd get your bfp this month too! Congrats and welcome. Also terrified. The mantra does seem to help a bit. In answer to your question of t'other thread, I'm in Colchester (New Town area). Perhaps we'll end up in the same nct group! ----

Guff - sorry the docs have mucked you about. I'm still mulling over the pros and cons of various early scans. DH wants to just wait until 12 weeks now, having had the experience of a really positive scan at 9 weeks last time only for it to go wrong at 11 weeks. But don't think I can hack the tension of not knowing if its an empty sac or something for that long. Suspect I'll cave at about 8 weeks 3 weeks to go then!

Good luck today -Jess-- x

LuckySocks13 · 10/07/2013 06:49

Welcome Saggy :)

CamomileHoneyVanilla · 10/07/2013 06:51

Oops. Still sleepy. Jess!

GardenWorm · 10/07/2013 06:53

SAGGYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Congratulations on your BFP! I have absolutely everything crossed for you. Fab news xxx

IBelieveInPink · 10/07/2013 07:07

saggy!!!!!
How flipping fantastic to see you here! Great news. Repeat the mantra. Every 6 seconds if you must. It helps :) :) :)
