Plenty of oldies. Newbies always welcome.

Oh Janie that's lovely!!! How exciting!! Did you get some good pics? I love the posifrickentivity - I am so full of it now!

Lucky - yes to insomnia! What is that about? So tired, yet can't sleep?! No fun at all....

janie I'm so pleased for you - why since way to start the week :)
diy I don't think we have a store 21 :( I'm sooooo hot, I ended up wearing teeny tiny pj shorts on Saturday, it was not a sight that anyone would wish to see! I have one maxi dress which is good but it does not get on with my maternity bra, I think I should just stay home and sit in the paddling pool Grin

CamomileHoneyVanilla · 08/07/2013 12:51

Thank you for the lovely welcome everyone. Feeling slightly better now its Monday and work is nice and busy and distracting.

Yay for the amazing scan Janie. Lovely news. Xx

BumpKitty · 08/07/2013 12:54

*What a way to start the week

GuffSmuggler · 08/07/2013 13:01

Great news janie how exciting Grin

Welcome cam, great to see you here.

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and still feel very numb and weird. I went to the GP 2 weeks ago and she said she would request a scan and they would book me in 'as soon as they could' so I'm not sure when to chase really. Would be good to know it was booked in for another week or 2.

andadietcoke · 08/07/2013 13:57

Yay janie congratulations!

[grump] too hot [grump] - slept so badly last night, even with a fan on at full blast.

Had a mini meltdown at my mum on Saturday. The Bugaboo had been delivered and she rang to tell me it hasn't all been delivered. She's not supposed to be engaging with anything that is delivered for me - it's just to go in storage unopened, so I have it, but not really, if that makes sense. I guess I should have told her it wasn't all being delivered together, but I didn't expect her to do an inventory. I sound like such a cow now but I liked the idea of pretending that all this stuff I'd bought didn't actually exist and so couldn't jinx anything. She's also buying clothes like a woman possessed. I suspect she might have dolls to dress up somewhere Wink

GardenWorm · 08/07/2013 14:01

YEY Janie and WHOOP to the posifrickintivity! Did you find out the flavour?

On my way into work after a lovely long weekend off, really can't be arsed! On the plus side I have a short week as off Thurs and Fri and a midwife appt Weds morning so only half a day Weds Smile

Hello newbies Grin hope our posifrickintivity rubs off on you!

jess how you doing? Not heard from you for a few days...have you popped?

Hope the heat isn't too bad for those of you who are nearing term, drink lots of water and rest as much as you can x

GardenWorm · 08/07/2013 14:02

Ooh anda I was righting mine as you were posting - you were one of the ones I was thinking of in this heat! X

BlackholesAndRevelations · 08/07/2013 14:26

Yay great news janie!! I'm guessing you didn't find out sex? So glad all is good Grin

Good point about Jess! Where are you, Jess?! Hope all is well! Xxx

LuckySocks13 · 08/07/2013 14:35

Whoop de whoop Janie :) fantastic scan news. Same EDD as me too! I'm also back g others issues and too hot. I think that all work places should get paddling pools for us poor ladies!
Welcome to the newbies. One day at a time. Today we are pregnant :)

DIYandEatCake · 08/07/2013 15:52

Yay janie! I cross posted earlier and didn't see your news til just now! That's fantastic, you must be so pleased. Home strait now! About 2 weeks to wait til mine now... That's if the hospital ever gets round to making me an appointment. I have a midwife appointment on Wednesday though so am hoping to hear a heartbeat to keep the posifrickintivity ticking over.

anda I'm sure your mum was just trying to help, she must be beside herself with excitement too, two grandchildren on the way! I understand how you feel though, mil was a very enthusiastic buyer of baby stuff and I felt very strange about it before dd was born. And after, actually! In the end I had to talk to her and say that though we were very grateful, I liked shopping for cute baby clothes too but wasn't left with anything to buy after she'd stocked up 2 sizes ahead... (And her taste in clothes was awful but I didn't say that!).

IBelieveInPink · 08/07/2013 16:24

Has anyone else at around 20 weeks ish had stabby side pains? I have been getting them for a couple days now, but it's kinda freaking me out. It's kinda in the side/bottom of bump. Not agony, but not comfortable. I have been telling myself this is just stretching - that's right isn't it?

OP posts:
GardenWorm · 08/07/2013 16:40

Pink I'm with the stretching. Plus everything has been shoved up really high inside you i.e all your bits so it's a bit squish in there now. Probably your pelvis readjusting to everything that's going on but if you are worried ring the midwife X

pumpkinsweetie · 08/07/2013 16:53

Congrats on the scan janie Smile
Are you having a surprise? Ooh exciting x

BumpKitty · 08/07/2013 17:13

ibip I've been having a variety of pains this last week including period type ones which were quite alarming but the baby is still kicking away unperturbed so I'm guessing its stretching pains too. I think round ligament pain can be quite sudden stabby pain

And welcome camo :)

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 08/07/2013 18:13

Ibip - are you getting any pains in your pelvis or pubic bone? As could be start of SPD or PGP - which you should speak to Mw about if it gets worse. I have a stabby pain right in my pubic bone - like I've been kicked in the knickers.
I have to go back to MW if it gets worse and get a physio referral. Looking into a support belt too. It's a right pain at work as when it hurts could really do with rubbing it - but not exactly a place you can rub in public Grin

IBelieveInPink · 08/07/2013 19:53

Oh thanks ladies. Choc - yes I have had some pain in my pelvis, usually at the back though. But worth bearing in mind. Seems to have calmed down now, I will mention it to the midwife when I see her next, but not worry about it in the meantime. Thanks ladies :)

Been awol for a few days, big stress AGAIN with the in laws Confused Driving me mad...me and DS had a boss day in the sun today tho Smile

pink I thought the same as you re big babies in the family (I was 10.2 and my Bruv was 10.14 Shock) late scan predicted DS would be 9.5 too but he was 8.8 and the 0-3 swamped him Smile I get such odd pains (apart from the PGP) like a clicking in the top of my bump, very odd Confused

janie fab deal for your pram, you must be so happy SmileBut even better scan news GrinGrinGrin You must've been on cloud nine all day Smile

Welcome camomile and postman and congrats Grin Hope you have uneventful pregnancies Smile

anda I preempted this and gave my Dad a list of what should be arriving so he could just check and let DH know if anything missing!

So I've defo decided to give natal
Hypnotherapy a go for this birth...nearly finished the book, then will start listening to the CD and start the exercises....my MW does an NHS class too so if it goes well ill enquire abt that @ my 28w appt...anyone else doing/thinking of this?

We've booked 4D scan too Grin

jessw25 · 08/07/2013 20:17

Hi lovely pregnant ladies

Garden and Blackhole , I'm still here, no bambino quite yet! This weather in hospital is pretty grim so last week have been either very tired or very yucky feeling. The combination of no air, tiny windows which don't fully open, no access to ice cubes, wearing pjs and TED stockings and my full term pregnant tummy = a yucky feeling Jess!

C section is scheduled for Weds am, eek! I'm still praying my placenta behaves till then so we can have a calm and organised birth with, hopefully, a healthy baby in my arms at the end of it. It would be so annoying to have gone 5 weeks in here with no major bleeds then it happens now so we have the trauma of an emergbecy section just before the date of the scheduled one!

Everyone around me is so excited but I am just very anxious that all goes well...only when, touch wood, I hold a healthy baby will i breathe a sigh of relief and no doubt weep finally with joy! The ERPC was this time last year almost to the day so the timing of this is quite emotional and poignant. It's made me think back to that horrible time last year and now hope, more than ever, that we can just get through this final step and slight medical hurdle, to finally be parents. God, my hormones are very deep and emotional today, sorry all!!

janie great news re your scan! Did you find out or having a surprise?

pink I had that around the same time with the ligament stretches. They were very uncomfortable sometimes. At least you know your body is developing as it should though with your growing bump..although that's little comfort when you're in pain though I know!!

x

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 08/07/2013 20:17

thank you ladies for all your lovely congrats messages!!! bubble was quickly burst when i got to work but i'm back on cloud 9!! and no we didn't find out the flavour! in fact in my hospital you aren't even allowed to ask as they have a no sexing policy, so would've had to go privately to find out. but i don't care which i have ....although from day one i've thought it was a boy. either way i'm not fussed! oh and we saw 2 magpies just as we were going into the maternity wing! and i had my lucky socks in my handbag - waaay too hot for shoes and socks today! :)

they gave us about 7 pics...4 of which i have no idea what they are...bod i wish you were my neighbour!! we didn't get the normal side on pic as the we monkey was hiding its head, after i came back from the loo it was looking right into the camera so we have a pic of a skull looking at us and smiling which is a bit eerie to be honest!!

anda don't feel guilty, maybe you just need to be firm with her and ask her that whatever else comes that you would prefer to be the one that opens it etc etc. i think if it was me i might be the same, although i have gone full circle from being the most superstitious person i know, to having a pram in our dining room and a mini babygro hanging on the landing. hmmm...

diy i hope they get in touch soon for your appointment, we have to make our next appointments as we leave each one which is good as i can pick the days an times which is luck, esp for dh.

lucky we have the same edd yay!!! from poas buddies to maybe baby day buddies too!! :)

pink sorry to hear about your pains, they do sound like they could be stretchy pains so hopefully not spd, although worth getting checked out if they linger to try to catch it early.

i have been suffering from terrible back pains when i am in bed, waking up with really bad pain in the side of my bum/lower back. i mentioned it to the midwife today and she highly recommended the big U-shape pillows for support between your knees and behind your back. good for when baby arrives too to prop you and baby up. and after all my moaning last week, i came home from work and DH had bought me one!!! mega score!!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 08/07/2013 20:23

shell i have just started the Mongan hypnobirthing book. i'm not sure if i'll manage it totally but really want to try to keep myself calm and as fear free as possible. a few people have poopooed me when i mentioned it saying 'yeah right, i thought i'd do that too blah blah blah' so i'm just trying to keep an open mind about it it. i'm toying with the idea of a waterbirth so it would be mega helpful as no good drugs allowed!! there are classes here but they are so expensive so i'm hoping when i finish the book i'll decide whether or not to splurge.

jess you could have a baby on wednesday!!!!!!!!!!! crikey!!! but god i'm so sorry you've been stuck indoors in such a yuk environment :( got everything crossed for you x x x x

Pentagon · 08/07/2013 21:29

janie congratulations on your scan, great news!

[just in case I don't get the chance to log on tomorrow]
jess all the best for Wednesday (I'm sure everything will go well), keep us updated! DIY and blackholes have a lovely birthday! x

BumpKitty · 08/07/2013 21:31

I had a hypnobirthing book and CD last time but I don't think I gave it enough attention really, I may have said this before but the thing that really helped me with labour was pg yoga as we practiced breathing and mantras. My NHS antenatal classes didn't even mention breathing techniques and nor did the mw who delivered DD so the classes were a god send. I'm starting again in august :)

LuckySocks13 · 08/07/2013 21:48

Janie I'm also having horrid backache and Insomnia! I have a pillow and find it helps if I sleep on my left but it hurts to stay there all night!
I have read through the Hypnobirthing book once and have signed up to do a course starting at the end of July. Found the breathing a bit confusing and I am hoping as there is much less midwife input this time round with appointments it will keep me focused and help with anxiety.
Not long now Jess. It's the final countdown! :)
I'm going crazy looking at cots. I think I want a co-sleeper to help with breast feeding but they are so expensive!

IBelieveInPink · 08/07/2013 21:58

So what is this hypnobirthing business then? Do I need to be learning about it? Which books are good to read?
