We need a new thread.

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website

Pretty rough. The list of problems seems to be growing by the day

Bit bored of it all now.

The name is because a group of crows is traditionally called "a murder of crows", and I figured it fit nicely for goths too. I used to be Kaloki, but changed to MoG one Hallowe'en and it just stuck.

have done an online shop and spent a fortune clicking on stuff I possibly might feel like eating. But I forgot the KEY thing, florida spring veg soup. 'tis awesome.

I haven't been sick today. Feel very sick and lots of wretching but nothing come up. It's weird but good. Only done two weeks though so prob haven't drunk enough.

Choc- ah the stockings. I had them whipped on during labour to DS when they had to, as they put it , 'augment' the labour. Mind you, having not really suffered from much swelling during pregnancy, as soon as I gave birth it's like all the extra fluid in my body went to my lower legs and they looked like elephant legs for a week! Never experienced anything like that before! On the plus side, it went from my tummy straight away too!

Moving back home for a few days tomorrow.

Anyone else find the evenings interminable? I reach a low point every eve when I just want a break from the days nausea.

Well I'm older and don't always stick to the black but have flame red hair and this is the first time I have left the house without eyeliner in years.
Had two drips and two lots of jabs and have just got my prescription from hospital pharmacy.
Although again had to deal with pharmacist telling me I should only take them if I feel sick. I politely told him I hadn't not been sick in five weeks.
Have been told it may take a couple of days for the meds to work and bypass gp and just go straight in if I'm still like this and feel unwell.
Thanks ladies I thought I was maybe being a bit dramatic but +4 ketones.
They were trying to keep me in overnight but I want my own bed

Sorry to winge again, I'm in so much agony I could cry. I've now got full blown sciatica and can not find a comfortable position at all. It's agonising pain from lower back, through bum down to feet. Paracetamol has not touched it. I've puked several times today and feel so sick constantly. Gona have to take my ondansetron and pray it works.

Goodness, there has been a lot of activity, I'll need to do a new thread in few days before we go over 1,000.
Bunny I am so glad others gave excellent advice and you went straight to hospitasl. Are you out yet? I hope feeling better. So you and Mog are goths, I used to love wearing black but it makes me look drained at my age- unfortunately. MOH I had a sleepless baby, too.

Dilsa This sounds like good news - and best of luck for scan.
Choc Not sure if you are out either - 4+ ketones is no joke, you must have felt horrific. Have you got the meds? How infuriating of that pharmacist.
MOG Dilsa Knows the medical side, and I don't want to tell you what you already know, but ketones usually mean dehydration with this fun thing, though it seems that in the long term if starvation goes on a long time, they can mean that rather than dehydration, but as a rule of thumb, hospitals treat 3+ as a potentially dangerous level of dehydration if it goes on too long.
Jen Have you got those meds yet? My goodness, no bowel movements in eleven days, that must feel horrific. Are the jelly suppositories no good?
Meerka Poor you, hugs. It is very isolating and depressing. It's awful, you have to take a day at a time like an alcoholic off booze! It's good that LO is five, and can understand a little better than toddlers.
waves Lovely to hear from you. I am glad you ventured on holiday with baby, and he is so good. You deserve an easy baby after such horrors throughout.

Sally - sciatica is awful. I had shooting pains in my last pregnancy but not as bad as yours. Hot bath? Heat packs? Cura heat pads? Massage? Can any of these help? Poor you acupuncture?

A non related vomming question but does anyone else get heart palpitations? I seem to be getting them once a day. I have a heart murmur that was picked up years ago and dismissed as nothing major but just wondered if it was a side effect of pregnancy? I am no longer on meds - happier vomming stuff up than dry heaving. Bit worried about liquid tho. I spew what I drink!

Sally paracetamol won't touch sciatica.
Try a hot water bottle or wheat bag on your bum cheek.
That or your gp might prescribe something stronger like co-codamol

Tried paracetamol fee but not its working, don't know what else is safe. It's probably the worst pain I've ever experienced. Now the constipation and belly cramps seem like nothing. Tried stretching it out but it just gets worse.

Lucinda- sickness is real bad too. Just taken my ondansetron in the hopes it will help. sickness aswel as sciatica is a killer :-(

Running a bath now, massage does nothing just created more pain and even bruising! Think dh was a bit rough.

Totes- I had palpitations until 12 weeks and mega hot flushes that made my skin burn.

Think it's safe to say I've now had all the worst symptoms possible ;-(

I find those cura heat pads good for night time when pain is on your back/bum as its not easy to sleep on a hotty botty.

Hugs Sally. It really, really sucks. Can you give the docs a call in the morn?

Oh heck Sally, serious sciatica -and- HG? god, hold strong. Thinking of ya. It may not be possible what with the HG, but maybe a physio massage could help with teh sciatica? ( if you can leave the house, that is). They're trained.

I was working and full time until yesterday when I spent the whole day in hospital on drips. I don't gone back in today as I feel as bad as yesterday morning and my head is killing me.
I don't feel like the drips did that much and I was still being sick while I was having them

Gona call docs at 9 and ask what in earth I'm supposed to do. That was the most horrendous night of my life. I could not lie down or sit without agony. I know your supposed to take pressure off back but I just couldn't. They recommend sleeping on belly, well that's impossible and flat on back is out too. In the end I used about 6 pillows to sit me up and one under knees, kind of like a reclined chair position. It was still agony but better than anything else. I got about 3 hours sleep I think. I remember googling codeine in pregnancy to see if it was safe. If only I was allowed alcohol!! A bottle of whiskey would do it I'm sure :-)

Sally You poor thing, that sounds unbelievably awful. The lack of sleep with that agony must be unbearable. I do hope the Dr can suggest something.
I don't know how anyone can work with this, or keep on working, when ill enough to be hospitalised...As for working as a teacher, automatic pilot or not...

I don't see why doctors prescribing Ondansetron don't give instructions on steps to deal with constipation, as it almost always follows. The jelly suppository things from chemists (usual warning; they mustn't know you are pregnant, though they are used in hospital for pregnant women) seem to help most people, but MOH somehow managed to keep down fibregel, I don't know how, it makes me heave normally. Some people have mentioned some other med dr's prescribe, my silly head has forgotten the name - was it Novical, or some such?
Those who have been in hospital I hope a teeny bit better - doesn't sound too great. Bunny, poor you if you are still being sick, some people do get relief for a couple of days after the IV, it's too bad if you don't get any respite from sickness. Did they change your meds?
