Excuse the spelling of 'sceptical'.. Im not.sure whether correct! Hahaa.. Been a long morning!!

I have an early gender scan.booked for 3 weeks today (i will be 16+1) ... Its costing £40. Im just wondering whether anybody else has had one this early and if the gender.was accurate? Im so.excited to find out and im really worried that it wont show!

Somebody pleeeeease make me feel less 'sceptical' haha x

It is very exciting!

I had a private sex scan at 16+6. They said 2 girls and I had 2 girls!

Enjoy your scan!

Fairydogmother · 28/05/2013 13:20

i've just had mine at 17 weeks exactly and it was tricky!

mostly because the baby was fast asleep with his arms and legs over his head lol. they are v v small still so it can be hard to image the bits needed but not impossible. in my case it was really v clear he was a boy and they showed me sample scans prior so i could see the difference too. girls sometimes are a little harder!

good luck!

stitchinline · 28/05/2013 13:24

I had a private one at 16 weeks and they said 99% it's a girl and that's what came out!
Was very easy for them to see the three lines as baby was in a good position.

toni1bump · 28/05/2013 13:30

Hmmm sounds like il have to do a few star jumps an drink lots of fizzy pop before scan! Luckily its at 7:30pm so i can make my bladder pretty full.. Im so excited !!
My friend had an early one at 17 weeks and.they couldnt see because of babies position but she still had to pay. Which is fair enough i.suppose! Congrats on all of your accurate scans... Eeee!! :p x

o forgot to say to eat something sugary! a gingernut finally got my sleepy boy moving lol

I had one scan at 15 weeks 3 days as it was the only appointment around OHs shifts - it was more to reassure me and make me believe there were twins in there :-) they said 2 girls and that's what I had.

Next time was 16weeks 1 day and they said 2 boys and that's what I had :-) cost me £80 each time so £40 is cheap!

FiveHoursSleep · 28/05/2013 13:40

I was told DS was a boy during a private scan at 12 weeks. They said they were 70% sure. My girls were all identified correctly at around 20 weeks.

RobinSparkles · 28/05/2013 13:51

I had a scan at 16 weeks with my first. It wasn't private, it was NHS (was checking that the baby didn't have spina bifida). The sonographer said that she would guess that it was a little girl but she said, "please don't take my word for it though. You might well find that you come back at 20 weeks and it's changed. It's very unaccurate at 16 weeks."

It was definitely a girl at 20 weeks. She's nearly 6 now!

Yonididnaedaethat · 28/05/2013 15:27

I had one at 16 weeks, the lady doing the scan wasn't 100% certain that it was a boy so I was booked in again at 18 weeks free if charged to get it confirmed. It was still a boySmile. Got another gender scan on Saturday and I'll be 16 plus 4 days so hoping the baby has private parts on show!

toni1bump · 28/05/2013 16:18

Haha. Well if my baby is anything like its Daddy itl be lying there legs spread with its hands on its private parts!! Hopefully he/she is playing nice :p

Hi just wondering how you all found where to have these scans? I have googled for places in Brighton but the only one I can find is Ultrasound Direct and it's based in a Holiday Inn! Not sure but to me that looks dodgy!!! I'm having twins and want to find out what they are and would wait for the 20 week scan but we didn't' get a pic of them together (was in too much shock after finding out at the 12 week scan it was twins and I didn't think to ask!!!)

PoppyAmex · 28/05/2013 16:52

I used Ultrasound Direct for one gender scan and two NT scans (babies just didn't cooperate so they couldn't measure NT fluid in NHS scans) and found them very professional.

The sonographers really took their time and were obsessed with getting lovely detailed pictures at the end.

By the way, here in Glasgow they're in a lovely Victorian building business address Wink

toni1bump · 28/05/2013 17:25

Have u googled early gender scan.and then.your location? Mine is just at my hospital. But there are loads of clinics about. Search for 'hello baby' or 'first choice baby scan'.. I think.they are national x

I had a gender scan at 16weeks 1 day at Babybond, said boy and even added a computer generated arrow on one scan picture pointing to his manhood! He is definitely a big and will be 6 in August!

Tiredmummyneedswineandsleep · 28/05/2013 17:29

*a boy not big!!!!!

Fairydogmother · 28/05/2013 17:53

I used baby bond and I think they are linked to ultrasound direct?!

They were extremely professional and in fact the sonographer works at my local hospital so I might end up with her on the NHS too!

harrygracejessica · 28/05/2013 18:31

We went to baby bond.

PoppyAmex · 28/05/2013 18:33

Yes, I think BabyBond are the same as Ultrasound Direct.

Smilehappy · 28/05/2013 18:35

Hi! I just had a private gender scan on Saturday I was 17weeks! Most amazing experience you could have! Large screen right infront of you, detailed explanation of everything the whole thing was fab! Turns out I'm having another boy! SmileSmileSmile compared to NHS the whole thing is more amazing and great for bonding

Hope yours goes well, Congratulations Thanks

2Labradors · 28/05/2013 21:02

Ooo I think we're going to go for a private scan to find out what we're having. Am 13+4 at the moment and planning on going at 16-17 weeks.

Love hearing your stories Smile

Dogsmom · 28/05/2013 21:12

I had one bang on 16 weeks and they were correct in saying she was a girl.
We used Baby bond and the sonographer said they don't announce the sex until they have checked at least 3x from various angles and they must be confident that if it were their baby that they'd be happy to buy pink or blue.
She also said that if they were unsure they would ask us to go back a week later but it had never happened at their clinic and they had a 100% success rate.

Franykins · 29/05/2013 09:24

Thank you everyone. I've googled baby bond in Brighton and it has taken me to the Ultrasound Direct. I think I'll give them a go if everyone seems happy with them. Even if they can't tell us what they are I just want a scan of them together - Diva much haha. I will be 16/17 weeks around my birthday so am going to ask for money Grin So excited!!!

PoppyAmex · 29/05/2013 09:35

Like Dogsmom said, if they can't see at the time they'll just bring you back in.

themilkmonster · 29/05/2013 09:45

I had my sexing scan at 18wks, they told me I was having a girl and they were right Smile

toni1bump · 29/05/2013 15:35

Glad yours were all accurate. Even more excited now! Wish it would hurry up!!
