Excuse the spelling of 'sceptical'.. Im not.sure whether correct! Hahaa.. Been a long morning!!

I have an early gender scan.booked for 3 weeks today (i will be 16+1) ... Its costing £40. Im just wondering whether anybody else has had one this early and if the gender.was accurate? Im so.excited to find out and im really worried that it wont show!

I asked at the 12 week scan and our sonographer said she thought it was a boy. We had a private gender scan at 14+4 (in London) and that confirmed it, as did the 20 week scan. I think they can tell surprisingly early!

TheDetective · 29/05/2013 20:54

Mine was accurate at 16+1.

I am not skinny either with a BMI of 37 - so the picture wasn't as clear as it would be with someone smaller. Also an anterior placenta, which makes visualising the baby more difficult.

I saw it was a boy and pointed it out before she confirmed it! She said have a look, can you see, and yup, balls and willy pointing right at me!

Hope you enjoy yours. :) Ignores 6 month old boy whinging upstairs in his cot. Grin

I had a private one at 12 weeks for all mine :) were all right

galwaygirl · 29/05/2013 21:59

At my 12 week scan (I was 12 weeks 6 days) the sonographer told us it was a boy - well hinted around it as it was the nhs one. I think normally they wouldn't say anything but it's an IVF pregnancy and we had lost his twin which I was still very upset about. Plus he showed us what did seem to be much more than a nub.
Anyway, scans at 20 weeks and 32 weeks said the same but I'll know for sure in two weeks!

lovemybabyboy · 29/05/2013 22:49

I had my NHS dating scan very late at 16 weeks and found out I am having a boy, it was very clear! Grin I had it confirmed at my 20 week scan.

Hopingforno2 · 29/05/2013 23:54

I had one at 16 weeks with babybond who said girl and she is now a 8 week old keeping me up lol babybond are a fantastic company have had scans with both dc with them my dd was in a horrible position when i went back at 27 weeks for my 4d scan and they brought me back 3 times despite the fact they only had to once and i got lovely pics in the end. Also they did the early gender for half price as i was booked in for a 4d later on Smile

Fairydogmother · 30/05/2013 10:07

I forgot to say that babybond gave us a £20 voucher so we might get the 4d scan after all now! (Tho that was my secret plan all along lol)

toni1bump · 18/06/2013 14:56

We found out the sex of our second at the regular 12 wk scan. We didn't think you could tell so we were not even thinking about it. But the Sonographer turned round and said "I know the sex do you want to know"?

We said yes and she told us he was 100% a boy. We were decided not to get too excited as we really wanted a boy. But it was all confirmed again at the 20 wk scan.

We are now expecting our 3rd but as we have a boy and girl and found out the sex with both, we are leaving it as a surprise this time.

Heavywheezing · 18/06/2013 17:07

Yes they can tell at 12 weeks. My sil who was at a private scan was told then.

I remember asking at my 12 weeks and was told that's not what they were there for! Which is right.

My sil is also a GP and knew the dr who was scanning her as she's put a lot of business their way!

IneedAsockamnesty · 18/06/2013 18:06

I've had private scans at 12 weeks and 16 weeks for my last few pregnancies all have been correct, well so far I had one last week so that's to be confirmed when she comes out.

4leafclover · 18/06/2013 18:12

I had a gender scan at 16+2 weeks and the sonographer told us he's 70% sure it's a girl, but it was hard to see as she was being awkward Sad we have gone with his opinion and bought girly outfits but kept the receipts just in case she turns out to be a he. We find out on the 27th Smile

toni1bump · 19/06/2013 10:21

Woooop its a girl!! :) was no doubt about it even i could see her lil foof haha!!.

She was in an awkward position at.first then.turned around and flashed her bits to us..

Was 16+2 and was such a lovely scan. Got a CD rom of the whole.scan too! :) x

Oh I am even more excited for Sunday now!!!!! I just hope they can tell us what they are, will have a fizzy drink and a gingernut before we go in haha. Hopefully twin 1 won't play up like in my 12 week scan, had to be scanned 4 times in total because he/she was in a difficult position. Needless to say I had a rather sore tummy after. I also told DP that was probably the mischievous one so was his Wink They were both easily viewable at the scan with the consultant last week so fingers crossed Smile

Franykins · 23/06/2013 22:27

We're having one of each Grin
