Just wondering how much you have been charged for scan photos and how it was arranged? Did you pay before or after? How many photos could you get. This is for my 12 week scan...

We were charged £3 per photo and we could have as many as we wanted i think. But it varies from trust to trust, some only ask for a "suggested donation".

MikeLitoris · 25/05/2013 19:40

First two babies were free.

Last baby I paid £2 but the sonographer gave me loads of pics. Think I had about 10.

I got a token from a machine in reception and handed it over before the scan.

LillyofWinchester · 25/05/2013 19:44

Receipt from a machine we then gave to sonographer. £5 for two pictures but the first time she gave us 3 & the second time 5.

iamci · 25/05/2013 19:45

we had to buy a ticket from a vending machine before going in. it was £5 and we got two pictures.

peeriebear · 25/05/2013 19:45

It was £5 for a scan token but then we got around 5 photos.

Hawkmoth · 25/05/2013 19:46

A fiver per picture at ours.

MyDaydream · 25/05/2013 19:48

My trust charge £5 per photo and you just gave them the money when they handed over the photo. We got one photo, otherwise it'd have cost us a fortune.

khaleesidragon · 25/05/2013 19:53

12 weeks got one free pic. 20 weeks was £3 a pic but he gave us about six.

BikiniPlease · 25/05/2013 19:57

I think the 'suggested donation' was £1 a photo for us.

flipflump · 25/05/2013 20:08

We were handed 3 photos, left feeling very pleased. Passed reception and heard "that will be £10 please" naughty of them but by that point we were so relieved and excited we'd have paid a fortune for them.

FoofFighter · 25/05/2013 20:19

Donation tin by the front door, I put £1 for each one they give me in. when I remember to

roofio87 · 25/05/2013 20:23

£4 per photo at my hospital. the letter said there would be a machine to pay but we just gave it to the sonographer when she gave us the photos!!

beth27123 · 25/05/2013 20:25

Ooh wow quite a difference there. If anyone knows the RVI in Newcastle that would be great..

£4 here, got one picture at 12 weeks and 2 at 20 weeks - seems to depend how generous the sonographer is feeling!

Machine at reception to get a token

Gaudete · 25/05/2013 20:47

£3 per photo, or £15 for a CD with as many images on as you wanted, paid in advance at the reception.

Wickedgirl · 25/05/2013 20:49

I got 2 photos for £2 at me 20 week scan

Livingwithmymother · 25/05/2013 20:51

Only allowed one photo for 3 pound,

worley · 25/05/2013 20:55

we charge £3 per picture, you can have as many as you want to pay for. we have a token machine but prefer you to get tokens after scan for obvious reasons.

rrreow · 25/05/2013 21:16

£2 per pic, paid beforehand at reception. On every occasion (2 pregnancies, 6 scans in total) the sonographer printed way more pics than we paid for. It also says at reception that if you pay for more than one pic you get duplicates of the same one, but the sonographers have always given us different pics.

clare8allthepies · 25/05/2013 21:23

At RVI (3 years ago mind) you had to get tokens out of a machine, think they were £3 each. At 12 week scan we bought 2 tokens but the pics were a bit crap so they put a note on my record to give me extra pics next time. At 20 week scan got 2 more tokens but got loads of pics!

levithecat · 25/05/2013 21:50

Ours is £10, and you pay the midwife by card after the scan. Amazed they charge so much more than anywhere else!

Repeatedlydoingthetwist · 25/05/2013 21:53

Reading this it appears that I was bloody fleeced! Mine was a tenner AND I only got one!!! Blush

MissHinky · 25/05/2013 22:03

It's £6 a photo at ours with a maximum of 4 pics available. You pay either at the cashiers desk or if that's closed at the ultrasound reception desk.

That said, one of the nicer sonographers gave us 3 photos and said to just pay for 1.

Chubfuddler · 25/05/2013 22:04

A fiver for loads.

KirjavaTheCat · 25/05/2013 22:05

£7 per two pictures here. We paid for two but he gave us four :)
