Ok, I'm ready to go, anytime now is fine for me, the sooner the better if this nice weather is going to keep up as well, lol

My last 3 hours at work were great I got to sit down for the whole three hours so I didn't need to do anything strenuous.

I am now officially a lady of leisure, well sort of. Need to tidy up the house and the garden and organise a few things so I'll be concentrating on that next week when dd is at school and out of the way. Really hoping that I don't go overdue this time as I've ran out of clothes to wear and I'm certainly not buying anything new at this late stage.

Twiglett glad to hear that you're ok, always better to get checked out to be on the safe side. But you don't have long to go now, lucky you.

Gawd, not going online for a day makes me feel really behind... Twiglett!! what drama. Glad you are ok. A friend of mine who had c section in Jan started labour before they could reach her with the knife and it really didn't seem to be a problem, surprisingly. (And she had eaten a bowl of Porridge.) But anyway that's not so relevant now is it?

Had a day of big activity yesterday, walking with friends between pretty seaside towns in the sun. It was lovely, but too much, as we had a party to attend in the evening. I came over all palpitations & nosebleeds while getting dolled up, and dh and I spent an hour and a half in our party clothes on sitting room floor waiting for it to pass. It was not said out loud but both of us were aware that it felt rather like rehearsal for labour, with dh trying to get me to relax and me rocking on birth ball. Weird experience. Anyway we had to make an appearance at the party after that because everyone we know would have thought the baby was on its way if we hadn't. Which is also an excuse for saying I just did want to go. and it was a lovely evening... But a useful lesson in the art of not overdoing things. It was one of those parties where people of all ages whirled around on the dance floor, with children being spun round by the armpits, and babies blinking in their prams... very good advert for parenthood, and goodwill was heaped on my bump till it felt quite proud.

don't worry we didn't stay late...

Hello everyone, hope your all ok. I also thought I was going into labour yesterday. I woke up in the morning feeling crampy as if I was having a period. I was also getting braxton hicks every 10 minutes. They werent that painful just a tightening around my belly and back. I carried on with decorating the nursery just encase baby did make a early apperance. By the evening I still had the crampy feeling but after a lie down everything seemed to go. Although I did ask DP not to drink that night just encase.
All I kept thinking was ' it cant be now I havent decorated and im not ready'

When I asked the midwife before how I would know if it was braxton hicks or contractions she said that contractions would get more painful over a few hours and braxton hicks wouldnt.
im assuming now that the pains were probably everything stretching as today its been fine.

Come on ladies - it's May. I want somebody else from here to have a baby.
I'm very glad for you that it turned out to be a false alarm twiglett. But do some quick practice breathing exercises anyway - believe me theycome in very useful when your aneathatist is stood behind you saying "No, I hit the bone again"

GeorginaA · 03/05/2004 14:40

PRUFROCK! You're home! Welcome back How are you feeling?

7 days to go for me... gulp. Getting very nervous now.

libb · 03/05/2004 15:00

Welcome back, Prufrock!

Nowt much happening here, I am due in less than a week but haven't even had a hint of a braxton hick - please let something start soon! He managed to disengage last week so I hope he makes his way to the exits as some point very soon!

How is little one by the way? It must be nice to be home. Hope your family are well and looking after you!

Take care, Libb xxx

Oh my goodness, it's Tuesday tomorrow isn't it?!!

Good luck, twiglett! I will be thinking of you tomorrow (and I hope your mother isn't driving you too much around the bend ) lots of big squishy hugs - I expect to see a birth announcement promptly, so make sure your dh is properly trained

prufrock · 03/05/2004 20:08

Good luck for tomorrow twiglett.

prufrock · 03/05/2004 20:11

The day you deliver, outside will be slightly overcast. (Glorious sunshine followed by huge storms and floods)
Your baby will arrive at night. (8.52 am)

After a labor (No) lasting approximately 23 hours, (Op took 40 minutues) your child, a girl (boy), will be born. Your baby will weigh about 6 pounds, 10 ounces, (8lbs 1/2 oz) and will be 17-1/2 inches long. (21 1/4) This child will have dark brown (grey) eyes and be completely bald (thick wavy brown hair)

So don't believe a word

kbaby · 03/05/2004 20:20

Good Luck for Tuesday Twiglett. Ill be thinking of you.

((( Big Hugs)))

Bozza · 03/05/2004 20:25

Good luck Twiglett - hope to hear news soon. And hope we also have a baby who decides to put in an appearance of its own accord soon.... Nothing much changed here - apart from baby appears to be lower (ie further away from my boobs).

snowbird · 03/05/2004 20:56

Good luck for tomorrow Twiglett

spots · 04/05/2004 08:24

Good party on sunday georgina?

Hope today finds everyone well... We had a busy weekend sorting out the house a bit more and now I find that I do actually feel like I'm just waiting for the baby. Piles of unopened baby things in every corner. New chest of drawers assembled, with nappy drawer absolutely stuffed to capacity because none are in circulation. Due date's not even till Friday and the fingers are starting to drum of their own accord...but like you Libb nothing significant happening downstairs. Ho hum, think I'll go and buff a doorknob.

ROFL Spots! Is "Buffing a Door knob" a successful method of bringing on labour?

Twiglett - Good luck! I'm so envious of all you ladies ready to pop. Wishing everyone in the May thread as much luck and happiness as everyone in the April thread has had!

Azure · 04/05/2004 09:27

I just wanted to wish all you May ladies the best of luck for a swift and painfree labour and a dream baby. Many congratulations to Prufrock.

spots · 04/05/2004 14:01

thank you lovely visitors, do have a scone...

toothache I did think it might be inadvisable to buff doorknob after all as reckon that's how I got pg in the first place.

Did some patchwork instead.(that's actually true!!! nest-o-rama!!!)

GeorginaA · 04/05/2004 14:14

Party went well, thanks for asking Ds was a little overwhelmed at times, and I still can't believe how exhausted I was at the end of the day, despite not actually doing anything. Just watching the kids running around sapped all my energy!

Was worried yesterday though as baby wasn't moving as much as usual (not infrequently enough to bother a midwife over - but a noticeable difference in intensity and frequency). I shouldn't have though as today junior has doubled pummelling efforts to make up for yesterday's slow day!

SPD is bothering me today though - really struggling to walk.

spots · 04/05/2004 20:33

I have found baby wriggling issues quite worrying... suppose because it's the main contact you have with it you really are aware if there's a difference. I wish I could just chill out about it... had thought perhaps it was a first time mum thing but no? Glad the wriggling has reasserted itself anyway.

snowbird · 04/05/2004 20:40

Wahay, the baby has turned Had my doppler scan today and they checked the presentation and the head is down. All the crawling round on my hands and knees and ice packs must have worked. So thats me ready for Monday to be induced....if they have a bed for me!
I'm starting to get excited now and I can't wait to read of everyones safe arrivals. Good luck everyone

Georgina, glad the party went well.

PS Found out that the baby is a girl. Ssshhh don't tell anyone

GeorginaA · 04/05/2004 20:43

spots: the odd thing is I haven't worried about it before. This has been such an active baby that I'd mentally tuned out all the wriggling and didn't think I would notice. Was actually stunned that I did!

Someone's since told me that apparently it's fairly common for the movements to reduce substantially just before birth, so maybe I might get this baby out before the induction

Oh well... a girl can dream...

GeorginaA · 04/05/2004 20:44

snowbird: excellent! well done you! Bet that's a big relief.
