welcome redfiasco, the more the merrier. i am due 3 days after you. this is my first and so am finding it very daunting. you'll have lots of support on here though.

prufrock · 22/04/2004 15:44

No - I have written my list, and once I have finished my bacon sarnie I will be going up to put the things on it into a bag. Promise.

spots · 22/04/2004 16:41

hello redfiasco you have v. exotic name, welcome!

Prufrock you must be only just unpacked from moving house, if that? has it been a bit of a challenge anneka?

GeorginaA · 22/04/2004 16:45

mmmm bacon sarnie! Want one!

welcome redfiasco

I had a lovely day yesterday - I got a "you have won" letter - a genuine one, not a "we want to sell you a timeshare" one! It was a magazine comp I entered ages ago and forgot about, and I've won a £500 experience voucher (you know the sort: choose from 20 experiences like an orient express trip, personal shopper excursion, rally driving, balloon trip etc) to be used within the next 6 months! Makes up for all the pregnancy hell of the last 6!!

Today though, I'm having a crap day. Ds is playing up MAJORLY and has (I think deliberately to get attention, but not sure) wet himself - completely soaked through - twice this afternoon without any attempt to reach the potty. I did a terribly bad mummy thing and yelled at him for it

Feeling tired, fat, fed up. Can I have the baby out yet?!

spots · 22/04/2004 17:06

Well Done G!! Good timing - if you did want to go rally driving while pg you might have been advised against it. From Da Birth on you can rally drive your arse off!

What are you going to choose?

GeorginaA · 22/04/2004 17:11

I'm not sure. I'm REALLY tempted with the Personal Shopper at House of Frazer. You get £450 worth of vouchers, a personal shopper to advise/help you spend them, and a makeover! Would be great a few months after baby is born to chuck out all the gross maternity wear (I've lived in about 2 pairs of trousers for months now) and go for a whole new coordinated wardrobe!!

GeorginaA · 22/04/2004 17:13

Is that a bit girly?!

Dh wants us to go on the Orient Express trip

Judd · 22/04/2004 18:18

Emboldened by redfiasco's message, I thought I would declare myself too! I'm due on May 12th, already have dd of 2y 5mos. Cannot wait to have baby, really am the size of a house....and strangers have started shouting at me in the street ! (obviously really useful, supportive comments like "Is it twins?" or "you look about to drop!" )

redfiasco · 22/04/2004 18:51

Real ego boosters those comments!!
Popped into work yesterday, and most peoples reaction was "oh my god!!" told dh, and he said they were stunned by radiant bloom, whereas, I remain a realist, and know they were thinking I`m the size of a house!!

redfiasco · 22/04/2004 19:10

GeorginaA, I would go for the personal shopper, girly or not!!
Think every new mum should get one instead of a "bounty" pack!! Far more fun!!

kbaby · 22/04/2004 19:23

Id go for the personal shopper as well. Far more exciting than the orient express. What I would do for a whole new wardrobe instead of wearing the same trousers and t shirts that are definetly too small and keep riding up.

Egypt, ive just bought a 2 piece from asda. It was only 10.00. You can get them seperatly. I think the tops were 6.00 and they had some nice plain ones.

Egypt · 22/04/2004 20:42

aha - i shall pop into asda kbaby thanks

welcome judd. good to know there are others who will be still lurking here around middle of may - not just you and i kbaby!!!!

Egypt · 22/04/2004 20:45

oh and you bozza and linnet - that'll be most of us then!

spots · 22/04/2004 20:47

Have to say I'd find the personal shopper a real temptation too. Girly Yes!

Welcome Judd

I have noticed that when I breathe my tummy goes in and out at the sides like a horse's does.

Whinny!

Egypt · 22/04/2004 20:56

LOL spots
Tried your tummy trick and can't do it.

Personal shopper yes

Egypt · 22/04/2004 20:57

oh my LIFE
2 girls left on April thread..........GULP

Judd · 22/04/2004 21:25

Thanks for the welcome! Feeling all excited this evening as dh is due home any time now - he's been away since Monday. He's working from home tomorrow and I have big plans for....ooh......going to the toilet ON MY OWN without a pesky toddler following me....having dinner made for me.....little things that make such a difference !
Mind you, his return also means that me and my huge pile of pillows will have to hutch up in bed a little!

libb · 22/04/2004 21:40

Hello Redfiasco and Judd, what took you so long?! Just kidding! You are both more than welcome, the more the merrier! I'm due the the 9th of May so we are pretty close.

I'm bored, I want things to happen. Now please. (I know it won't be long but . . . ) In my breast feeding class today I was the most expectant mum to be - you'd better believe it!

Tomorrow I am going to buy some nasty looking nighties for when I go into labour! (I had hoped packing my bags might trigger some kind of reaction but it wasn't to be . . .)

Glad to see we are all doing well still though take it easy ladies!

GeorginaA · 22/04/2004 21:42

Welcome Judd!!

Gah, ds being a NIGHTMARE this evening (cunningly timed for when daddy goes out to the pub with his mate too...) ... he's strewn every single book he owns all over the floor, been up and down stairs a dozen times (just as I was on the phone to a friend I haven't spoken to for 5 months and was desperate for a catch up natter). I can STILL here him whining up there.

Remind me why I wanted another child again?!

redfiasco · 23/04/2004 13:38

Thanks for all the welcomes!
Im off for my scan now to see how big this "large for dates" baby is!! Everyone Ive spoke to recently has told me horror stories of being told they too, were expecting big babies, been induced, emergency c-sections etc. So am keeping fingers crossed for this scan to prove my consultant and cmw, wrong!! Clutching at straws? Quite possibly!

prufrock · 23/04/2004 17:09

Bag still not packed - I got sidetracked, but it's a good thing really as I went to hospital for pre-op appointment today and found out I don't have to take half of the stuff I had on my list - they provide everything for the baby except clothes to go home in.
On the downside I have to get there at 6am on Tuesday, to be operated on at 8am. Still I suppose I should be getting ready for being up half the night....

GeorginaA · 23/04/2004 17:28

Prufrock! And you were doing such a good job of giving the impression you were organised, too! I was holding you up as my role model...

Judd · 23/04/2004 19:29

I love Fridays !! I spent the morning at Toddler Group, answering endless questions about when I was due and eating loads of biscuits....
Then I parked myself in a deckchair in the garden this afternoon whilst dd sat in a washing up bowl and poured water around for ages. Poor dh had to sit in his "office" (ha ha - now we no longer have a spare bedroom, his office is a small table behind the sofa in the lounge!! )and work in this lovely weather. I tried to get him to go to the shop and buy me an ice lolly (saying it was a craving rather than just greed ), but apparently he was far too busy for that kind of malarkey....
Now dd is fast asleep and all we have to do is choose a Dominos pizza and watch Inspector Morse - hoorah!

Bozza · 23/04/2004 22:42

Can't believe you've only got to wait until Tuesday now prufrock. The midwife came today and its looking like my home birth might be going the same way as yours Georgina. Despite loosing a pound in weight since Sunday (so now only 12 stone) my bump as grown 2cm so if I go to term its looking like a big baby ie bigger than DS who was 9lb10 so a ten pound plus baby. I have to go to the consultant on Monday to see what he thinks but realistically I think they are going to recommend hospital because of the risk of shoulder distocia (sp?) and also haemmorage (another sp?) because a big baby means a big placenta. So bit disappointed today also a bit anxious about exactly how big baby is going to get.

Haven't really started to pack bag although have been purchasing the necessaries (eg mat. pads etc). Need to start getting organised.

Also baby at 36+5 is not engaged at all.

Egypt · 24/04/2004 08:00

Sorry to hear about your disappointment Bozza. Can you tell it's a big baby? Stupid question i know, but I'm always having a prod to try and tell. Midwife hasnt said anything. Is your baby head down though? Mine was not engaged last week either (35 wks) but was finally head down. I think they are often later at engaging in subsequent babies - according to miriam! plenty of time
