So. I'm fed up of having twinges, being told baby is engaged and that I'm huge or too big for dates Angry. Have walked literally miles today up and down hills (back & legs didn't thank me for that), have been eating pineapple every day for weeks and taking raspberry leaf capsules, and tonight had a vindaloo & DH and I have DTD for the 3rd time this week. Any takers on ideas how long it will take for DC1 to finally make an appearance?!?! So desperate to get this baby out!!!!!!

Well today's the day, 40+12. This evening at 6pm I'll be a nervous wreck arriving on the antenatal ward to be induced. Visitors can only stay til 7.30pm so I'm really hoping I'm not at the back of a long queue and that they put the pessary up my foof whilst my DH is still with me to hold my hand. Scared :(.

Here's hoping by the end of the weekend, we've got our DD and she's all healthy and I'm relatively ok too.

dowhat · 17/05/2013 08:51

Oh good luck purrpurr, will be thinking of you. I'm 40+12 today too but they don't induce here until 40+14 so a couple more days to wait. When I was induced with DD1 DH stayed with me the whole time so hopefully your DH will be there to hold your hand. FWIW the whole induced thing is a lot calmer than being rushed to hospital by a scared witless DH when you're in labour!
Looking forward to your BA x

mildred37 · 17/05/2013 09:22

Ooh good luck purr! If it helps my cousin was induced in January as she was overdue, and she had the shortest labour....She literally went from 0-10cm in seconds and baby arrived 45 mins later. Fingers crossed it all goes well and you are having cuddles tonight with your squishy baby :)

chick how overdue are you?

Any news from MrsMcroo?

ButteryJam · 17/05/2013 15:42

Purrpurr, best of luck! :)

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/05/2013 16:07

Purr hope it goes well and your DH can somehow become invisible and stay a bit longer, a disguise? A lampshade on his head??

Mildred love your cousin's induction story, gives me hope!

Btw DH wanted to put Jesse on our baby name list, I said what like Jesse pinkman?!?!? The meth head dealer who shafted his parents when he bought their house, really ?!?! Hmm

mildred37 · 19/05/2013 11:21

How are we all? Officially 40 weeks today and still nothing.

Fakebook · 19/05/2013 11:40

Put on your most expensive and prettiest underwear, wear your most expensive and trendiest trousers/jeans/skirt/dress and wear your most treasured (preferably suede type) shoes that will be ruined if got wet.

Sod's law your waters will break all over them. Grin.

CheerfulYank · 19/05/2013 12:20

Good idea Facebook!

How are you purr?

Still nothing here...I just had a v painful contraction which lasted and lasted and was awful...and then nothing. Been happening for a few weeks now. But I'm not 40 weeks til Thursday so I guess we'll
see.

megarobotdiscoparty · 19/05/2013 14:29

mildred - am 40 weeks today too, happy due date! I've spent the last few days moping about stop-start niggles and I'm having NO MORE feeling sorry for myself. Going to the pictures with DH and then a night in with a takeaway to celebrate getting this far with the baby we thought we'd never have.

Good luck ladies, hope things get moving for us all soon!

mildred37 · 19/05/2013 17:53

Happy due date to you too megan! It's now officially a race to the finish ;) we've been for a long bumpy drive and a walk around a park, as well as having spicy prawns for tea so lets see if it works :)

Is purr still around or is she having squishy newborn cuddles??

40+2 & very fed up. sweep tomorrow.

mildred37 · 21/05/2013 01:23

Up at stupid O'clock in what I think is early labour. Woke up with what feels like severe period pains, with odd waves of nausea and feeling like I need to empty my bowels, but I don't IYKWIM. Tried to get back to sleep but couldn't so thought I'd seek some comfort from MN - DH is snoring obliviously next to me :)

cuppateaandagingersnap · 21/05/2013 01:31

Ooooh, good luck, sounds like you're up! I just can't sleep, feeling a bit funny but in a very non specific kind of general achiness kind of way, 40+ 6 now since its officially past midnight but dont think tonights my night! keep us updated!

mildred37 · 21/05/2013 01:33

Will do! Going to try and get some more sleep now, it's wearing off a bit. Hope you manage to get some shut eye xx

blondieminx · 21/05/2013 01:41

Ahh fingers crossed for you Mildred!

Can you do some hip circling (holding onto doorframe etc for support), and have a nice hot chocolate?

megarobotdiscoparty · 21/05/2013 06:53

Good luck mildred! Very exciting indeed.

Do we have any news from Purr yet?

Still on the starting blocks here at 40+2, loads of BH but nothing remotely like a contraction. Midwife today. Have been offered a sweep but not feeling much like being rummaged about with tbh! Getting my head round the fact that LO may be in there for another week or two.... in fact I seriously think I might be pregnant forever.

How is everybody else doing?

mildred37 · 21/05/2013 08:18

No news from me I'm afraid - I'm a grumpy cow this morning! Managed to get back to sleep around 2am and it's all stopped. Thank god the midwife is coming to do a sweep today or I'd be stomping around like Godzilla today!!!!

Just some encouragement here ladies, it does end (I know you're all aware of that) and the waiting very soon seems like a distant memory!

I know people are a bit wary of castor oil, but it worked for me 4 weeks ago, also worked for both my mum and my nan, each of them induced 3 babies with it, all 2 weeks early. Depends how desperate you are (and if you can get hold of it!)

Good luck to everyone, hope you don't have much longer to wait. Have a Brew in the meantime.

mildred37 · 21/05/2013 10:18

Where can you get castor oil from - supermarket? Chemist?

Sat on my gym ball watching homes under the hammer, I lead such a glamorous life Grin

OP posts:
Fakebook · 21/05/2013 12:06

I really really wouldn't recommend castor oil. It contracts your stomach and gives you the runs and if passed on to baby can cause them to poo out the meconium inside the uterus which is dangerous and that's the last thing you need.

Honestly, just relax. You'll need the energy for labour.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 21/05/2013 12:37

I can promise they all arrive in the end. Even mini tas, 12 days overdue. I was induced with the prostin gel, nothing happened, then it all kicked off that night, with mini tas nearly being born in the corridor! It was a lovely quick easy labour, v surprising after the last one. Wishing the same for all of you still waiting.

mildred37 · 21/05/2013 13:01

It's so nice reading all your stories :)

Sweep done, wasn't too bad actually. Am 1cm dilated but she could stretch to 2cm as cervix was nice and soft :) had quite a good poke about, said she could feel baby's head very well and hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer now. Booked in for another one next Tuesday, pray to god I won't need it! :)

megarobotdiscoparty · 21/05/2013 13:08

Congrats Tas!! Sounds like a fab birth, always encouraging to hear positive induction birth stories.

mildred rubbish that things have eased off. stay positive if you can- every niggle is a step closer to mini-mildred! crossing fingers for your sweep.

cramps all day here but pretty sure they're nothing exciting as not even close to regular. so sore though! had no idea niggles could be so....niggly! nobody warns you about this stuff...sure paracetemol and a bath will sort it out as usual [dramatic sigh emoticon]

Hang on in there ladies...we'll have some more babies on this thread soon!

megarobotdiscoparty · 21/05/2013 13:10

x post mildred - excellent news! sending speedy baby vibes....

mildred37 · 27/05/2013 21:23

How is everyone doing? My niggles turned out to be a loss of plug but thats all....I'm now 41+1 and due another sweep tomorrow. I shall be begging her to break my waters!!

Any baby news??
