So. I'm fed up of having twinges, being told baby is engaged and that I'm huge or too big for dates Angry. Have walked literally miles today up and down hills (back & legs didn't thank me for that), have been eating pineapple every day for weeks and taking raspberry leaf capsules, and tonight had a vindaloo & DH and I have DTD for the 3rd time this week. Any takers on ideas how long it will take for DC1 to finally make an appearance?!?! So desperate to get this baby out!!!!!!

bigkidsdidit · 16/05/2013 10:16

sorry, posted too soon

being overdue was so bloody awful. For me, the worst part of the whole thing - pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding, no sleep. The worst bit was waiting!

drcharliegirl · 16/05/2013 10:41

Can someone explain to me why at 25-35 weeks pregnant I got drastic Braxton Hicks for hours after DH and I had (ahem) DTD, causing much panic and anxiety but NOW??? At 39 weeks and desperate to get baby out before a family funeral next week??? Curry, sex, RL tea, walking... NOTHING will persuade my uterus to contract!!!
GAH!!!! Angry
Good luck to all

ButteryJam · 16/05/2013 11:12

I had a couple of strong contractions last night (dp not entirely convinced they were 'real' contractions! Well he slept through most of it so how would he know lol). But this morning there isn't much going on at all, so I'm off for a walk in the shopping centre, hoping it might move things forward! Not sure if I should be calling the midwife about last night? My 1st, so I'm completely clueless Hmm

ButteryJam · 16/05/2013 11:13

CheerfulYank, did you ask your doctor to? I don't have a routine midwife appointment until the 40 + 6!

purrpurr · 16/05/2013 11:53

Aaargh, so bloody knackered after last night's heartburn that I just watched from behind a thick veneer of sleepiness as my laptop slid off my lap, off the sofa and bounced on the floor. Joy. In the last nine and a half months I have:

Smashed two tumblers from a lovely 4-piece set
Smashed two big cereal bowls
Cracked one plate from a 18-piece set bought especially for 'entertaining'
Dented the kitchen lino - which is barely five minutes old :(
Hit another car in a supermarket car park in a car I'd only owned for 2 days (top tip: Don't buy a new car when you're 32 weeks pregnant)
Tried to pick up various packets of things in the supermarket and dropped every single one - bloomin' swollen fingers :(
Tried to squirt some foundation onto my face and got the bedlinen - twice - and Maybelline 'dream finish' foundation stains, in a permanent 'is that mud, or is that... Poo?' kind of way
Tried to fix splattered foundation on duvet issue by rubbing with water and white towel. Red duvet cover kindly leaked pink dye on white towel, in a permanent 'is that... Is that blood?!' way.

Being pregnant is really bloody expensive. At least the laptop still appears to be functional...

CheerfulYank · 16/05/2013 14:19

Buttery she asked if I wanted her to b/c I've been having contractions on and off for a few weeks. :)

Here in the US you see your Dr every 4 weeks through the first and second trimester, then every two weeks til 35/36 weeks, then weekly til you deliver.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 16/05/2013 17:01

Grin at the poo on duvet and blood on towel purr!

I just had a MW appt and have changed my thoughts on my cervix, it is anterior, quite far down but closed up, so now cervix is.....Katie Price (a bit in yer face but cold at the same time). Considering all these women are walking around 1,2 or even 4 cm dilated, would it be too much to ask just for a centimetre of dilation??!!!

The sweep was grim and pointless, induction booked for 8am Saturday.....

rootypig · 16/05/2013 17:07

god sweeps are SO grim. I had one at 40 weeks and it was a good preview of what was to come. had another at 41, went into labour that night.

OP where are you? having your baby I hope!

mumof6 I generally do my tiramisu scoffing in Italian restaurants, when I get the chance. Ciao Bello in London do one so boozy it's like an extra dirnk or two Grin. Never found a good shop bought one, but haven't tried Tescos.

And yes to family size, never seen the point of those teeny "individual" pots Grin Grin

purrpurr · 16/05/2013 17:34

tas Just laughed my head off at your Katie Price cervix!

mildred37 · 16/05/2013 18:25

No I'm having my bloody baby Angry this little one is settled in for a 10 month pregnancy I think! Sweep booked for Tuesday.

Lol @ Katie Price cervix! Ugh I could think of nothing worse than her down there....Aaargh! I'll have nightmares now!

Have been buzzing around like a mad thing this morning and completely crashed on the sofa this afternoon. Now feeling foggy headed and ready for a long hot bath and then bed! Fingers crossed for some good news for at least one of us tonight. X

Should say I'm NOT having my baby lol!

rootypig · 16/05/2013 19:07

just think, if you hold on another week or so, you'll get a Gemini. well worth it IMO Grin

bigkidsdidit · 16/05/2013 19:13

just had my 36 week appt and baby is engaged, does this mean it might come sooner?

DS wasn't engaged at all till 40 + 10 Angry

MortifiedAdams · 16/05/2013 19:17

Get some danceable music on and boogie.

Ten minutes dancing to "9 to 5" and "Big girls you are beautiful" had me at 2-3min.contractions within the night.

CheerfulYank · 16/05/2013 19:56

My cervix is a total tease...dilated to 4 and 50% effaced. And yet it means nothing. And it's so hot here.

mildred37 · 16/05/2013 20:21

I have no energy for dancing lol! I have cleaned, tidied and organised like a banshee this morning so I'm hoping that will help. Have been getting "new" pains this evening which a bath didn't do much to help; but knowing my body it will turn out to be nothing, again - just a tease like Cheerful's cervix!

mildred37 · 16/05/2013 20:23

bigkids mine has been engaged since 34 weeks and I'm now at 39+5, so sorry but it just means its ready. You may well prove me wrong though!

OP posts:
bigkidsdidit · 16/05/2013 21:10

ah, dammit!

But I didn't realise you weren't 40 weeks yet. you might have weeks to go - try to relax and have a cake and a glass of wine :)

Bogeyface · 17/05/2013 00:28

Can I really piss everyone off and say that 80% of pregnancies go beyond 40 weeks and that science indicates that human pregnancy is more likely to be 42 weeks rather than 40?

[Runs away..................]

CheerfulYank · 17/05/2013 01:04

My Dr said she'll break my water on the 27th if I don't go before.

Bogeyface · 17/05/2013 01:08

I have had 6 full terms and they all bar one, went to the wall of 42 weeks!

Sorry, but I learnt that the due date is the start not the end!

Bogeyface · 17/05/2013 01:09

Relax, watch TV and curse me!

chickieno1 · 17/05/2013 04:27

Ds1 born 40 + 13 after 2 sweeps, sex, hot curries, loads of walking in London heat, moving house, induction, em CS.

Am I mad not to just go for elective CS being offered now????

Have a while to make the decision though, would you ladies do any different?

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/05/2013 04:44

Soz Mildred about Katie price, I know not an appealing thought. I'm quite pissed off with my cervix tho sure it's doing its best!
Think this baby is wedged in, and can't descend, that's why I'm not dilating. That would explain all the pressure just above my public bone. Think it's going to be a long haul.....

tasmaniandevilchaser · 17/05/2013 04:45

Chick, I'd def be discussing elcs, get booked in and then see what happens
