39+5, last couple of days getting some vaginal stabbing pain and more Braxton Hicks, a couple of hours of which were uncomfortable.

Woke at 6.15 this am with a contraction, painful, thought going to the loo would sort it. Didn't! Happened every 5 mins, able to talk through them. Day on ball, walked around, had a bath, getting more painful and moving into my back. Sometimes some mini contractions for 5-10secs in between too. Now they are in my back I can't talk through them, have to breathe and screw up my face and have cried with them a couple of times.

I rang the labour suite and asked if they might be the real thing, they say it sounds like prelabour and were more worried about baby's movements (not really felt it this morning - though have been distracted!!!) So now doing the eat, drink and lie on my side thing. I've felt the baby, I'm not worried.

But these contractions are incessant and make me cry!!! It's so awful in my back! Does this really sound like prelabour? Not sure I can cope with it let alone "real" labour?!! Waters intact (a bit of wee with contractions, oops) and no bloody show. Tiny bit of mucous plug yesterday and day before.

I'm so frightened of this pain coming (I thought I wouldn't be but it's awful) but I think it's because I'm scared the midwife is wrong and everything will suddenly happen.

Anyone have any thoughts? Hubby is on way home from work. I only rang the midwife half an hour ago :(
