Good news Bodicea - hope you can relax now.

Lucky - have you had chicken pox? Immunity is normally lifelong if you have. I suspect unfortunately if your DS has been exposed vaccinating him won't make any difference. Would it mean you can't go on holiday? i guess that depends what your plans are and who he'd potentially spread it to.

Pentagon · 14/05/2013 15:08

Bodicea that's great news!! You should definitely relax and enjoy now

jmf sorry, I thought you had already been for your 10-week appointment! Good luck on Thursday!

Cramping is normal indeed!

Aoifebelle · 14/05/2013 15:10

If you get in quick the vaccine can be preventative even after exposure. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9514106

I know of two families who have been refused travel as their kids had visible chickenpox. I would not ordinarliy recommend vaccination for what is a fairly mild childhood illness, but if my holiday was threatened I would be sticking needles in them pronto!

GardenWorm · 14/05/2013 16:20

YEY Bod that is fab news and hopefully you can enjoy the rest of your hols. Make the most of it being just the 2 of you as no holiday will be the same once BubbaBod arrives ;0)

Mummytothearkbuilder · 14/05/2013 18:06

That's great bod - enjoys your hols!!

I would love a Kate Middleton bump - my tummy was bigger than her bump before pregnancy - I am literally going to look like a whale when this baby bump kicks in!! I'm what you would call festively plump - all year round!! X

andadietcoke · 14/05/2013 18:38

So, still lots of watery discharge but not sure what colour (head in sand, apparently red knickers work as well as black ones jmf). No cramps though.

I'm a horrible, ungrateful person my mum appears to have bought me two cots and a changing table, and all I can think about is that she's jinxed everything.

I definitely have a biggerthanKMid bump too. Which I'm actually quite thankful for because the EDD for the pg I mc'ed was around when she's due. When I went to mat triage a few weeks ago they measured my bump at 28w, even though I was 20, so weirdly I'm the same size as I would have been if I was due in July (with one). This freaks me out a bit.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 14/05/2013 18:58

Congrats on good scan news Aoife & Bod!

I think I have a Middleton bump (yay! I'm posh!), 27wks & it hasn't come up anywhere near my ribs (had wicked rib pains with DS, nothing so far with this one), carrying very low (which would explain lower back pain & quite intense Braxton hicks right?)

Hope everyone cramping & brown bleeding is able to relax soon.

DH pointed out to me earlier that I had massive, top needed changing, boob leaks so it's full time breast pads for me. Blush

If you're reading this...you should be doing your pelvic floor exercises Grin

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/05/2013 19:02

yay bod super news! ow i hope you enjoy the rest of your holidays :)

ooh the leaks anda...i seem to be leaking a bit too but pretty certain it's normal going on what the midwife told me at booking in. 'expect a few gushes' to put it precisely. i reckon so long as it isn't stinky then you're all good :) that's sweet of your mum o get you the cots etc, i'm supersticious too so anything that's given to us before the arrival (see the posifrickintivity there?) i will ask my parents to keep in their house.

oh i dream of a kmid bump. my god that poor girl must be under so much pressure. it probably helps that she was teeny weeny before getting upduffed. sadly i probably compare better to sarah ferguson so no doubt will expand at a fair rate. i know my mum will buy me some maternity clothes but i'm worried about sounding ungrateful...her idea of hiding weight is by wearing 3 sizes too big which is quite unflattering...hmm

BlackholesAndRevelations · 14/05/2013 20:10

Great news bod! Hope you're having a fab holiday!

This time tomorrow I'll have just had my early scan.... So nervous.

Having a grumpy day today, think it must be hormones but everything is upsetting me and making me angry! So tired too, just want to go to bed for a week. My 3 year old is being horrendous and I'm really struggling to cope with her behaviour. One minute she's adorable but then she's like the devil. I'm hoping this is normal three year old behaviour?! Argh!

pumpkinsweetie · 14/05/2013 20:16

Goodluck with your scan tomorrow blackholes

Probably normal 3yo behaviour, my 2.5yo is in the terrible 2 stage, she refuses to take her wellies off and tries to chase each visitor out of the house in them because she loves walking in them so much. Worried she will end up with trenchfoot, but she screams and bites me if i try to remove themGrin, only at night will she take them off. Ruled by a 2yoGrin, who'd have thought it!

DIYandEatCake · 14/05/2013 20:36

bodicea that's brilliant, now you can relax for a while! Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

blackholes I'm with you on the grumpiness. Earlier I shouted at 2yo dd 'for goodness sake just go and PLAY with something and STOP WHINGING!' Then felt dreadful. She is just whinging and crying so much at the moment, and i feel like i could use a week sleeping too. My friend's dd will happily sit for an hour doing jigsaws or colouring on her own, mine just follows me round whinging at the moment. And the tantrums...!

BumpKitty · 14/05/2013 20:49

god I could write an essay on whingy irrational 2 year olds - mine has only just gone to sleep Shock

great news bod I'm still waiting for my results, one of my DD's childminder's is pg and she told my DH she got her results letter when she was 18 weeks!! She said she had forgotten all about it and it just turned up in the post, ah the naivety of a first pregnancy when you are 21 (i.e. super low risk anyway!). If I want to find out my results which dept do I call?

blackholes i am permanently grumpy, it's the new normal for me. Good luck for the scan, remember the lucky socks.

ibip my DH asked me which part of the bump was baby and which was fat, ahh the romance.

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 14/05/2013 21:14

My 2.5 year old seems to go through weekly phases - clingy, then whiny, then Mr Independant (not fun when shopping), lovely angel. Let's see what I get next week?

Great news Bod - hope you are having a fab holiday.
Anda sorry you are still having weird discharge, I think as long as it's not in your house or bought by you, stuff bought early can't jinx you.

No bump for me yet (8-9weeks) but have to drive home from work with flies undone (praying I don't get pulled over!)

I work in Newcastle - really is home of the magpie - I see loads everyday.

4 sleeps to my scan.....

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 14/05/2013 21:15

Just realised I have managed the most disjointed post ever - sorry!

OP posts:
andadietcoke · 14/05/2013 21:21

Thanks chocolate (and everyone else). I've just discovered that excess watery discharge is a side effect of cervical ectropions so I've calmed down a lot. I know I'm being daft about jinxing things - everything that's in the house (Emma's diary and bounty pack stuff, a 'what to expect' book and various random baby things including a John Lewis nursery catalogue) is hidden down the back of one of the chairs in the lounge. If I can't see it, it can't hurt me Wink

6 days until next milestones - 24 weeks (viability!) and mw appt when she'll hopefully listen to heartbeats. Then another 4 weeks until my next scan.

Good luck tomorrow blackholes I know how terrified you must be, but try and get a good night's sleep xx

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/05/2013 21:25

oh good luck tomorrow blackholes :) good advice from bum re the socks!

not long for you chocolate, although i know it probably feels like months! exciting week ahead!

ok time for a TMI post...look away now if you are having a late night snack. i seem to have a bit of a rash 'down there' not in my actual bits but more so around where your knicker line would be on the 'outskirts' of the fanny region and a wee but underneath. it's awfully itchy and has been waking me up at night sometimes. some of the skin is a bit broken now and sore and seems to be peeling away a little :( i've done a bit of googling and the only thing people come up with is either shaving rash or thrush. i do keep myself trim with a wee electric muff trimmer and i have noticed that the hair seems to be growing quite quickly at the mo but trimming doesn't seem to do the trick (thought maybe the grown back hai might irritate). is it possible to have thrush without the gunky discharge? am i going to have to go to the doctor and show her (oh the thought).

apologies again for the gross post... at the end of ones tether (i bet K-Mid doesn't have this)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/05/2013 21:26

bump not bum haha!

andadietcoke · 14/05/2013 21:30

janie not so much a rash but I had itchy bits for the first trimester and a bit. No infection or anything else, and it just stopped one day. Not very helpful, sorry, but I can sympathise!

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 14/05/2013 21:45

Janie - could just be knicker elastic rubbing on shaved bits? You could try a little hydrocortisone 1% ( over the counter stuff about £2.50) or Vagisil is really good at numbing itchy rashes (I use it for my eczema when it's bad)

Good luck tomorrow Blackholes - Meant to say that in post before

OP posts:
BumpKitty · 14/05/2013 21:45

hmmm doesn't sound very thrush like, maybe your skin is more sensitive than usual and reacting to the trimming? Maybe you need to go au naturele :)

IBelieveInPink · 14/05/2013 21:52

Ouchie Janie!
I was trying to go more 'au naturele' as bump so delicately put it, and found that did cause all sorts of hell in breaking out in itchys.
I have also been wearing big pants, in order tht I can wear pads daily (constant paranoia of mc at work) and this has equally caused changes in terms of extra layers (pads) and knicker elastic (rubby).
Oh the dramas ones undercarriage can cause! Could be any number of things really......

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/05/2013 21:52

oh thanks girls, so sorry for making you answer...what a yuk thing. i wondered about the knicker elastic but i can't really go commando esp with the extra juice flowing down there (unless it's a damp kinda nappy rash?). i tried sudocreme but no good, will maybe get some vagisil and see if that helps. DH is defo not getting any lovin while this is going on Blush how embarasing

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/05/2013 21:54

pink yes i thought about 'growing it out' as i thought maybe in time as bump expands (cos it will you know) then i won't be able to see down there but the extra foliage made it worse. oh cripes

Mummytothearkbuilder · 14/05/2013 21:59

Good luck for tomorrow blackholes x

jmf294 · 14/05/2013 22:31

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Blackholes!
Ouch Janie- sounds horrible. Have you got any sudocream you could try. It coulda be the increased blood supply to your pelvic area has just made it will more sensitive. Not sure what this loving thing is that you allude to!!
None of that business has happened here since my BFP 7 weeks ago!!!
