Thanks for all the good wishes, it feels amazing to have so many ladies pulling for you.
Omg the magpies, they have totally been my superstitions, but I have been seeing them in really odd numbers, like 8. (I just ignore any after 4). You do know we are all stark raving bonkers.
fmc was very posh, the cleaner was dressed better than me. There are bits of art and antiquities all over the place. The quality of the scanning equipment does seem better than the NHS. Got to see amazing detail. The scan lasted about 15 mins, they just confirm baby is there and appearing healthy. Then off for bloods, then part with 180 quid, and you are done. They have a posh coffee machine where you can make your own, my oh took full advantage.

oh, and my elderly parents have decided to surprise me and my sister by joining us on holiday. We are not supposed to know, but other blabbermouth sister blabbed. What parents in their right mind decide to surprise their kids on holiday. Freakin lunatics.

BumpKitty · 13/05/2013 21:11

surprise them by going somewhere else ;)

LuckySocks13 · 13/05/2013 21:13

Lol at your post on your parents Aoife. It's kind of very sweet :)
Glad all was well at your scan and you enjoyed the luxary at the FMC :)

Don't get me started on the Magpies. DH thinks I'm a nutter because if I only see one I have to salute it so I don't get the bad luck. He want's me to stop it so DS doesn't catch on but I can't help myself Blush

I went bra shopping in Mothercare today but came away empty handed. They had hardly any choice and I tried a couple on but couldn't be bothered with it all really! Needed to get measured but had had enough and now I'm still without a comfy bra :(

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/05/2013 21:20

thanks Mr & Mrs Chocolate and apologies for hijacking. there's just one NI figure but i got a statement from NI stating zero payments had been made at all since 08/09. there is a figure for each year (approx 675) that can be made as my contribution he needs to pay it not me. thanks again for your tips and help, and sorry again for the non pg posts. endoftether.com.

bump just stat mat pay for me unfortunately booo. i seem to be crying at pretty much everything which is my only symptom. well..that and lots of chin spots and my second cold sore in 2 weeks :( feeling like a fat minger right now.

mummy you could be a bit early but it has happened. hope you do though :)

anda sorry about your brown gunk :(

diy consider yourself slapped (in a nice way x

IBelieveInPink · 13/05/2013 21:23

Diet - I have more brown gunk too. Repeat after me, brown is okay. This is my mantra and I am sticking to it.

IBelieveInPink · 13/05/2013 21:25

...... Brown is okay right???......

DIYandEatCake · 13/05/2013 22:06

pink did the doctors have any idea where the bleeding might have come from?

IBelieveInPink · 13/05/2013 22:09

No. I had a scan, and placenta looked intact. And had an internal, cervix looked fine. So no idea really. She just said 'unexplained'.

DIYandEatCake · 13/05/2013 22:25

Hugs. Really hope it's a one off and the gunk stops soon.

Aoifebelle · 14/05/2013 07:14

diy and IBIP Brown is so the color this season. Sounds like things might be settling down, fingers, toes and everything else crossed.

Janie with you on the fat and frumpy. I am so going to be all tits and jelly belly, no neat little Middleton bump for me.

One good thing about my folks gate crashing my holiday is that I can tell them about bump in person. But really, you couldn't make it up.

IBelieveInPink · 14/05/2013 07:31

I like that Aoife. No Middleton bump for me either. DH seems to think that the bump I have is just because I have been eating too much! Cheeky git. I did point out the size of a large grapefruit and asked where he thought I was hiding that. Idiot.

GardenWorm · 14/05/2013 07:35

Aoife I have an image of your holiday; you are all in a lovely sunny country like Spain and your parents have insisted on going to the local water park where they are now going CRAZY on the slides whilst you and your sister are sunbathing trying to pretend you don't know them but they keep shouting 'Coooeeeeeee' and waving at you. This is making me smirk on my train. Sorreeeeeeee! Anyone seen the film Cocoon? (or am I too old and you all too young?!)

IBIP brown is good (repeat after me!)

WillSantaComeAgain · 14/05/2013 09:33

Oh my god, aoife - I can't imagine anything worse than my parents turning up on my holiday. And I love my parents very much! If your parents are elderly, do you feel that your roles have slightly reversed - i.e. you end up looking after them and making all the decisions? I find it exhausting!

No middleton bump for me - have already gained 4lbs and I'm only three weeks in. Eeek! I was also just chatting to my secretary and speculating on how earth Katie M is teetering round on four inch heels still, when she's seven months gone. When I was that size, I was flats all the way. And could she not have the good grace to put on a bit of podge, just to make us mere mortals feel better. Bet she's back in her size 6 skinnies within six weeks Envy

pink sorry you're having to cope with that level of stress. But as many (wiser) ladies than me have said, brown is good, the scan is good and many many ladies have bleeding with healthy pregnancies.

In my killer bodycon work dress today, probably for the last time. Sniff. Still fits fine, but doesn't look great with a wobbly beer belly and I'll be outed in no time if I wear it again. (If the pigging out on Salt and vinegar crisps at 10am and seabands don't give it away first).

Pentagon · 14/05/2013 09:57

Aoife what I liked about the FMC was how peaceful it is! I felt calmer as soon as I walked in, both times - and I was by myself (DH had to look after DD). The scanning equipment is definitely more advanced than the NHS and they spent a lot longer looking at everything in detail during the 12-week scan, things I certainly didn't expect like all major organs, brain, cleft lip etc. jmf you're going back this week, aren't you? I'm sure your Harmony result is fine, I think you would have got a call from them if it weren't (they probably have your result by now, you can call them if you're too worried, I waited until my next appointment because for some reason I was more anxious about the scan and seeing a live baby than the harmony - probably because I've had 2 missed miscarriages and I'm terrified of scans)

DIY I also had days in the first trimester when I didn't feel sick at all and was worried sick. I think it's normal, I read somewhere that your body adjusts to the hormones until the next change/surge when you start feeling sick again. I don't know how true this is but anyway... I have barely felt sick since 12 weeks and am quite worried because I am sure it carried on till 16 weeks with DD (a lot more mildly though) But every pregnancy is different, as they say!

mummy unless your dates are slightly out (which is possible) you should be able to see something between 6 and 7 weeks. With DD, we saw a heartbeat at 6w 3d and with this baby at 6w exactly.

Am I the only one who hasn't seen any magpies?!

ibip brown is good!! I've only had brown in my 1 successful pregnancy and this one (so far, so good). I had nothing at all when things went wrong in my 2 MMCs

lucky I couldn't find much in Mothercare either during my last pregnancy, maybe try M&S or Debenhams? They both have maternity bras if I remember well.

Bakingtins · 14/05/2013 10:02

Congratulations on positive scan Aoife but your parents are nuts!

I don't feel so good today, a bit crampy, which I know can be normal but is not comforting. It's my LOs 3rd birthday so plenty to distract me. I'm employing a perverse kind of logic which says things normally go wrong as soon as I let people know, so I'm just going to get it over with. Told my manager and my employer yesterday who were both really nice about it, have written to midwife to request late booking (after 12 weeks) as have decided there is no point filling in the wretched forms again only to throw them away a few weeks later. Early scan next week, have a horrible sick feeling when I think about it, have totally convinced myself that it is only the progesterone propping up a failing pregnancy and there will not be a heartbeat. Funny isn't it, at the weekend I was feeling really positive about it all.

jmf294 · 14/05/2013 11:10

Pentagon- I have the blood test for the harmony on Thursday so have to wait until 2 weeks after for the result and I'm still terrified!!

Bakingtins- I think we all recognise your fear of scans, I cried whilst I was walking into the scan room 2 weeks ago as I was so scared.

Middleton bump?? Not here, in my last 2 successful pregnancies I had a horrid square shape bump and put on around 4 stone!!

I had really ugly maternity bras last time from m and s. I'm still in my normal bras, b

jmf294 · 14/05/2013 11:12

Opps posted too soon-
Boobs certainly a bit bigger and sore but no
Boob explosions, I'm around a d cup so happy to stay as is.

Glad I'm not alone with my crazy magpie thoughts- my husband says I'm mad!!

pumpkinsweetie · 14/05/2013 11:20

Middleton bump, i don't think i have ever had one of those, but then again the smallest size i have been is a 12Grin, i was so large last time everyone was convinced it was twins!

Magpies-Really glad i have seen none today, no need to count!

My scan isn't going to be until around the 17th, got a long wait ahead of me, glad the dc have half term coming up that should make it go fasterSmile

Didn't realise i should only be having around 1-2 cups of coffee a dayShock, i'll end up with withdrawal symptoms, off i go for decaff coffee & teabags!

Had shooting pains cramp type things last night, but mw said it is most probably completely normal as it's my 5th dc, the ligaments will feel it more. Still crapping my pants though and the knicker checking is becoming obsessional!

DIYandEatCake · 14/05/2013 11:58

I feel quite sorry for Kate Middleton, it must be awful having your body analysed in the gossip mags all the time, I think I'd be dressing up and wearing heels too if I thought there might be someone with a camera round every corner. I was lucky last time too, had a small bump and felt well in later pg, it was just luck (and dd being breech with her head wedged under my ribs meant there wasn't much to stick out front). Think the tummy muscles aren't as good now though.

Thanks pentagon, trying my best not to worry! Seems funny there's been this sudden change, felt really sick then suddenly not much, and my dreadful spots have disappeared suddenly too. Heading for 10 weeks though so only about 3 weeks to wait til scan, just trying to keep calm and busy til then.

baking hope you and your lo have a lovely day today. I know how it feels to panic about cramping so I won't say not to, not long til the scan and really hoping it's great news for you this time.

shellsocks · 14/05/2013 12:01

My problem is I have the Middleton bump now, at 14 weeks....I do end up rather large Grin

I'm alone in thinking its nice to have your parents come on Hols then the in laws is another story! Wink

Mothercare maternity/nursing bras are awful, don't bother!

bakin and pumpkin cramps are normal, repeat cramps are normal Wink

LuckySocks13 · 14/05/2013 12:47

Well I've managed to get some bras from Debenhams. Thank you for the tip off. I also seem to be sporting a Middleton bump at am only 12.3 weeks. No hope for me!

Had a minor panic (again!) this morning. DS nursery teacher told me lots of cases of Chicken Pox! Spoke to Midwife and they are now checking my blood for immunity but won't know until next week. Am also meant to be going on holiday in 2 weeks and what's the bet DS catches it and we cant go :(

Aoifebelle · 14/05/2013 13:00

Socks I think arranging to go on holiday with your parents is lovely. I think your parents turning up on your holiday unannounced is verging on sociopathic.

Baking hope the party is going well. Sorry you are feeling a bit anxious. just remember, you know that you can carry a little one to term, and TODAY YOU ARE BLOODY WELL PREGNANT. Now go and eat some birthday cake.

jmf I have been thinking about it, and I am already getting nervous about the follow up scan it seems so momentous. With hindsight, I wish I had been a bit more relaxed about the first scan and taken a bit more time over it. As long as baby is in there, this may be the only scan not actively looking for problems. You don't have to worry about chromosomes or abnormalities or the size of its head. All you have to do it sit back and watch him wriggle.

Going to tackle the bra situation this weekend. I only have one left I can get into. Welll when I say into I mean vaguely in the same place. Any shopping tips most appreciated.

Aoifebelle · 14/05/2013 13:02

Lucky you might want to get him vaccinated asap. I think you have to go private for it, but to save your holiday I reckon worth it

Bodicea · 14/05/2013 13:33

Hello peeps sat in a little tapas bar with free wifi so taking the opportunity to catch up.

Collegue texted me last night with combined test results 1 in 8800. So bloods must have been very good. Think I might try to relax and enjoy this pregnancy now.

aoife can't believe your parents turned up on your hol!! I would have been fuming! Hope it's not too bad.

I too have Middleton bump already, holiday eating excacerbating situation. I also have got a really chubby face! Trying to avoid being in too many holiday snaps. As for bra situation I bought one underwire free bra but not a fan so went and bought a few cheap bras from m and s sale, I normally buy expensive specialist bras like panache and fantasie for bigger boobs but can't justiify it if am gonna grow out of them. Plus become a more mainstream size since my chest measurement went up so easier to find bargains.

Aoifebelle · 14/05/2013 13:45

Yeah Bod fandabbydozy. I think I would even allow myself a little sangria to celebrate that triumph.

I go on hols in a few weeks, their coming is supposed to be a 'surprise'. We are staying on an island, and they have booked into the little port you have to get the ferry from to get to the island, so at least there will be water between us. I actually think it will be kind of nice. I will get to tell them and my nieces about bump in person and it will also releive the pressure to go and visit them in ireland. That however does not detract from them being totally bonkers.
