Which brand baby shampoo and baby lotion have you bought?

I have no idea which brand baby shampoo and baby lotion I should buy for my newborn. Any recommendations?

None, just water is fine. Olive or even better coconut oil is useful for dry skin but things like J&J are full of crap. Avoid!

Mum bought me lots if Johnsons to use but DS was in hospital for a while - they used Infacare so i continued to use it and still do. When he was tiny lots of people commented that he didn't smell like a baby. I think they meant that he didn't smell of Johnsons! Each to their own. My friend swears by Asda baby products. I wouldn't buy loads though - baby might not be keen on your choice

Not Johnsons!!! It caused dd to break out and bleed. The dermatological nurse said it is awful stuff.

You do t need anything at first just water. With ds I used a tiny amount if shampoo only when he got to the bring sick all over his hair/ poo all up the back stage.

olive oil is very good for cradle cap, i would always tell my clients that if they had brought their new baby in to show off and mentioned the dry scalp.
me personally, i will not be using jj or any other well known shop brands. too many chemicals in them. ive found a nice range of natural products on babyshower.co.uk. they do cost more but they are made using organic ingredients and no chemical nasties in there.

I like the asda stuff too, but as previously mentioned only a little if there's a lot of poo/sick involved.

Johnsons made my sons eczema bad my brother recommended asda little Angels have used it since, its lovely (& cheap!)

Asda little Angels wasn't out then but oddly enough do wine just recommended their shampoo for dd last week

I cantvremrmbervwhich brand I used (the dc are. 9 & 11 now) I used boots sensitive baby wipes and oils run in the bath. I think I got an organic baby shampoo from boots.

I bought j and j fir my dd and you d them rather strong (suitable god newborn skin my arse) then bought infacare was lovely. Used Asda little Angeks stuff from about a year and didn't think not to when ds arrived and I'd bath them together. Still use it now so it's in the bathroom already save me buying anything else for ds2

We didn't really use soap/shampoo until DS was starting to wean (I don't honestly remember, it might have even been longer). After a bath we'd rub him in some olive oil (I used to refer to it as basting him ).

None - just water. Newborn babies don't need shampoo/soap at all.

Almond oil/coconut oil . I tried everything and infacare have my son round dry patches. The oils got rid of them but when he was 1 he stayed at his grandmothers and when she brought him
Bk he smelt delicious and his skin was so soft she said she used dove on him. I was horrified .... But it actually worked and til this day the only thing that doesn't dry out his skin is dove

Either just water or the sad stuff is fine used sparingly.

I'm sticking with Olive oil and water to begin with. I have eczema issues so I don't want to do anything to irritate her skin in those very early stages. Apparently newborns have an amazing natural smell anyways...when they aren't busy filling nappies...

Used plain water for 2 months. LO had a lot of hair tho n looked greesy so used J&J shampoo. Still don't use body wash or baby lotion. Olive oil for dry skin and massage.

Plain water with vegetable oil for dry skin (midwife told me its better than olive oil as more refined).
When he got old enough to roll in dirt started using seba med baby cleansing bar.

I used water for 4 Weeks then started using Goats milk soap (all natural) from the Gamrie Goats as DD has very dry skin but this helps :o

You don't need any! Haven't used any yet on my 11 week old and she's lovely. I only bath her twice a week too, washing my first every day gave him horrible dry skin.

I did, however, buy a small bottle of baby massage oil, as massaging her tummy really helps her with wind. I got fed up of having to go to the kitchen to get the olive oil from the cupboard! That leaves her skin lovely and soft too, so I'd use that on any dry bits.

DS is 2.6 and we still mainly just use water. Occasionally a bit of dentinox shampoo if he gets some cradle cap and soap if he's covered in felt pen, but other than that water is enough.

Weleda shampoo and body wash. It doesn't contain nasty chemicals like parabens and sulphates and it is extra gentle on the skin. I like the smell too. I also have the Weleda nappy cream and find it very good (clears a rash much faster than sudocream and bepanthen).

We used plain water until they were crawling and getting grubby then we used organic, natural baby soap. My middle one in particular had / has very dry skin and a bit of eczema so we use organic olive oil (the asda one is good) We also used to say we were basting him rreow

'Just water here, too. Our paed/nurse/pharmacist/every mother I've met here in Spain has said don't use j&j (paediatrician actually shuddered!) especially the cream as it contains parafin and dries out baby's skin. Bloody loads of stuff contains parafin They all recommended almond oil, not sure if it's available in UK?

Oh, and also great for cradle cap

then about every 2 weeks a tiny dot of burts bee's

She is nearly 2 now and have never been touched by johnsons (or own brand equivelent) and has never been touched by SLS either.... long may it continue

Our burts bees body wash is still over 3/4 full, so that how much she has used in her whole life.

We use cloth nappies and wipes too (and flannels for faces) so is only touched by cloth and water
