When are you binning your underwired bras?

I'm 14+5 with rapidly swelling boozies. Would love to know what you're all doing...

I started too soon with ds1 and spent a small fortune as they kept on growing. They all went in the bin tho as they were chewing gum afterwards.

I didn't. I can't abide non under-wired bras. I got measured and wore correct fitting underwired ones. And then I had underwired nursing bras for BF too.

Not planning to, if I can help it, I need the support. Have gone up quite a few sizes with my normal underwired ones though.

I have 30E boobs (now 32F) and thought I'd never give up my underwires. I got properly fitted (at Bravissimo) at about 22 wks by which time I was properly bursting out of my old ones. But, even the properly fitted underwired bras were incredibly uncomfortable after an hour or so of wearing. I returned them and bought two non-wired maternity bras in my new size from Mothercare (for about a third of the price). They're not attractive and they don't give me anywhere near as nice a shape as my old bras, but they're comfortable and give me enough support (and still are at 31 wks). And I didn't spend 60+ quid on bras that'll last me three months...

21 weeks and counting....

I didn't think that properly fitted underwire bras would be uncomfortable, especially if that is what you usually wear. I would try both and see how you feel with and without underwire before deciding.

Am I missing something re: underwire? I'm sure that I'd read somewhere that you ought to go underwired so that you don't inhibit the work of the milk ducts?

Or is that a load of crap!?

32 weeks and still wearing pre-preggo underwired bras, they don't dig in or compress or anything, so don't see the point in going without.

I haven't got any plans to bin them because they are underwired.
Have found that certain styles just don't work (so have sold the good condition ones as a bundle on ebay!!!) but others seem to still be working well just with a bra extender.
Its wierd because they feel so much bigger in my hands and to look at (am 21 weeks) and yet I can still seem to fit the same size with the bra extender.
Am I missing something obvious regarding the underwire? I thought that as boobs get larger an underwired style is even more appropriate for providing support?

The problem is that if your breasts grow, but you keep wearing the same size then indeed, underwires will dig in and might even cause issues. No evidence that well-fitting underwired bras should not be worn though. They even do underwired nursing bras nowadays.

It is sometimes suggested that pregnant women shouldn?t wear underwired bras as the wiring can sometimes cause blockages in the milk ducts. However, there is no evidence to support this. As long as the bra fits you well and the wires of the bra aren?t digging in, there is no reason to stop wearing an underwired bra.

My boobs aren't on the huge side normally and I simply enjoy having a decent pair whilst pg & bfing so delighted I can keep on with under wires and just invest in some pretty bras to show them off!

DH will be pleased, we just need them to stop throbbing now so he can actually touch them, ha!

I did with #1 but haven't bothered with #2. I felt so flipping unattractive in an underwired bra with thick straps (which all seemed to come up really high inbetween my boobs for some reason, so I couldn't wear most of my tops (this was the summer!)) first time around, I vowed not to bother this time...

I did with DS1 too but this time even though my boobs are massive, they haven't felt as "hormonal". So I've just bought bigger normal bras instead. I'm 33 weeks.

I wore mine all the way and BF.

Thankfully my boobs haven't grown yet, I'm 31 weeks tomorrow but still a 34 HH. So still in my comfy under wired bras.

Buy hotmilk nursing bras - they're the bomb! Lovely and supportive, and have lots of rows of hooks to accommodate your growing ribcage. And they look pretty too!

38 weeks and still wearing my normal underwired ones. Thankfully I have lost a bit of weight whilst pregnant so they still fit as the loss in flab has been offset by the gain in boob/rib expansion

I wore underwired bras throughout - a mixture of normal ones and 'special' maternity ones.

When breast feeding I wore the Anita underwired bras mentioned above during the day and the bravado seamless tanks at night.

Rum, help :) I can't find hot milk stuff that fits me :( or their direct uk site, am I being dense.?

Even fig leaves doesn't do my size. Argh!!!

I bought most of my maternity bras from www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/ Their service is very good.

However, I didn't find HotMilk to be that great and hated the shape they gave me.
