Will my shoe size go back to normal

My shoe size had increased by a size not due to swelling. My baby is now 6 weeks old but my feet have not shrunk. Will they go back to normal?!

Not wanting to be the bearer of bad news but probably not - good excuse to buy some new ones...?!

redandwhitesprinkles · 26/12/2012 13:37

3.6 years down the line-no! I also have to buy wide in some shops. As someone who had a lot of shoes to say I am gutted is an understatement!

Rosa · 26/12/2012 13:40

Sorry to say but probably not ...Mine went up with dd2 and have stayed up !

jinglebellyalltheway · 26/12/2012 13:47

mine didn't, it went down a bit but remained half a size bigger than before (ball ache because half sizes are harder to get, am expecting no 2 so hoping to go up another half to bring me up to a whole number this time!)

NotSpartacus · 26/12/2012 13:47

Mine didn't. I now have fatter feet and some seriously nice shoes (jimmy choos!) gathering dust waiting to be passed to my daughters.

MistletoeAndMerryChristmas · 26/12/2012 13:49

Mine didn't.

Was a 4 before kids am a 6 now :/

lljkk · 26/12/2012 13:50

Only time will tell.

noblegiraffe · 26/12/2012 13:52

Mine went down half a size from normal after my first.

AC786 · 26/12/2012 13:53

Mine went up with DD (DC1) stayed a size bigger after then throughout pregnancy with DS (DC2) but have randomly gone back down a size now (pregnant with DC3).

Wouldn't mind but I sent all my small shoes to the charity shop before Christmas!

noisytoys · 26/12/2012 13:56

Mine went up to big boat sized feet I have to buy man shoes now Hmm

Procrastinating · 26/12/2012 13:57

Sorry, mine stayed bigger.
Was a 7 now a 9 and can't get any nice shoes.

FaLaLaLaLauraPalmer · 26/12/2012 14:02

This is so depressing. Almost 34 weeks and the only shoes that still fit are my slippers and Uggs. Sad

MaMattoo · 26/12/2012 14:05

Nope. Mine went up by a whole size and then dropped back by half a size. Have wider feet that before. It is something to do with the relaxing hormone that softens yours bones and hence changes the shape of your feet forever Wink joy oh joy.

Anyone planning to conceive should buy half a size larger shoes. I weep for my expensive show collection and that I don't have a girl to pass them on to!!

Pochemuchka · 26/12/2012 14:10

Just keep having babies - they might eventually go back down again! Grin or keep getting bigger and bigger

Artemis206 · 26/12/2012 16:27

Mine did, I'm a size 8 normally and had to wear a 9 when I was expecting my son. I was back in my usual shoes after about 2 months. I'm also 37 weeks with baby 2 at the moment and my shoe size hasn't changed this time.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 26/12/2012 17:52

Probably not I'm afraid. Mine were a 6 pre kids and now a size 8.
Still, it does mean there's more in the sales in my size.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 26/12/2012 18:00

I was a 5/6 before and after having dd but during my pregnancy with ds1 went up to a 7 Sad

They never went back, stayed exactly the same through my last pregnancy

Acandlelitshadow · 26/12/2012 18:33

6 pre DC and 7 now.

Have given up hope of shrinkage 21 years on Grin

GreatCongas · 26/12/2012 18:35

Pre dc was a five
Four children later am a 7

gazzalw · 26/12/2012 18:36

DW has had the same problem - was a 6 1/2 and now more like a 7 1/2 - she used to have really narrow feet too but finds a lot of shoes quite tight when she tries them on.... And no they are not puffy feet....

Not sure I've ever read any research on this but sure there is a research study out there ;-)

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2012 18:39

It's the relaxin you produce to allow the baby out of the pelvis working on the feet ligaments too.

Some people do go back to normal, but are in the minority.

I'm a podiatrist so I hope I'm correct.

peaceandlovebunny · 26/12/2012 18:43

no. i was a four, could squeeze into a three, before i had my daughter. i'm a six now.

AC786 · 27/12/2012 00:18

Thank you everyone- I'm so depressed. Anything that I can do to help them go back to normal?!!! Wishful thinking I guess?

My feet went back to normal, took a few months though, maybe as long as a year.
