I seem to have filled up the old thread and thought I better start a new one! Grin Still got ages to go, don't leave me now...

Am currently sat waiting for my 16 week antenatal appt, been here an hour so far and just had BP done and that's it.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/02/2013 20:49

Yep 36+1 and she was 8lb Shock she's tiny now though!

RueDeWakening · 19/02/2013 21:27

Diec DD had clicky hip/DDH (undeveloped hip sockets) and was in a Pavlik harness for a couple of months - it's good that they're checking her so young, a friend has just had to have her DD investigated at 9 months with a splay cast and the possibility of surgery to fix rather than just a harness (fortunately all was fine!).

If she has got it, it's not as bad as you might first think and you/she will get used to it quickly.

Did she have any premature stuff Spotty? Or was all okay?

mylittlepuds · 19/02/2013 21:35

My DS 9lb at 37 weeks Smile

BonaDea · 19/02/2013 23:01

I definitely think a sweep sounds like a plan but not sure i'd want it as early as 36 weeks! Might give it a go from 37 and see what's what!

Poor violet's hip but given adjusted age hopefully all will right itself soon!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 00:27

She was in SCBU for 9 days for her sugar levels and jaundice. Then she got an infection in her umbilical cord.

Hopingforno2 · 20/02/2013 08:47

Aww i hope violets hips right themselves my lo is in breech too or was a week ago.

Ok so dp gave me a cpl days off sort of but is now hitting hard again!i was 6.5 at 2.30am took 3u in hindsight myb should have done 5 as woke up at 11.2 this morning Sad so back to a big 3am correction dose i guess as went to bed at 4.9

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 09:37

I know most of you are still pregnant but anyone who's had a baby before (or diec) why am I back to 2u/10g?? I was on 1u before I got pregnant and I'm breastfeeding (all the bloody time!) Confused

mylittlepuds · 20/02/2013 12:34

Spotty - I was told that pregnancy 'finishes off' your pancreas.

How long have you been T1?

Also you could be carrying a bit of baby weight still which definitely affects resistance.

Finally hormones are funny things...you will be full of them still with the bfing.

Was your DD poorly cos she came at 36 weeks do you know? Is she all okay now? Hope so.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 13:48

Shock Puds are you calling me fat?! Wink Only joking. I'm about 8st10 my best pre preg weight was 8st3 so not much weight? I've been t1 for 13 years now.

Well the jaundice was because she was early, sugar levels because I'm diabetic and the infection was the hospitals fault. She's ok now though. I seem to be unlucky as when ds was in there were 34 weekers in and out quicker than us Confused

RueDeWakening · 20/02/2013 16:42

Were the 34 weekers girls, by any chance? Well known fact in SCBU circles (at least the one DS was in) is that boys are lazy :o and typically take up to a week longer than girls of the same gestation to be allowed home.

I'd def say ratios were down to hormones, it takes a good few months to settle down from what I remember.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 16:46

Thanks Rue. They were all boys apart from one baby in SCBU Shock seems to be the year for boys! I'm pretty sure it's my fault anyway as none of the other babies had diabetic mums and they got 'normalised' much more quickly!

Oh also I suppose the fact that I haven't slept more than 2.5 hours in a row for the last 13 weeks could be making a difference?

Who's next to have a baby then??

RueDeWakening · 20/02/2013 16:52

Well I'm 25+3 today, so max 13ish weeks to go... :o

I think Bona is next, isn't she?

OP posts:
Hopingforno2 · 20/02/2013 16:57

Yeah i think bona are u alot ahead bona? then me n puds around the same time im 32 weeks tommorow are u 31 puds?

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 17:13

Ooo so jealous of you all!

BonaDea · 20/02/2013 17:27

I'M NEXT I'M NEXT!!!!! Grin

34 weeks today, thank the little baby jeebus! I am getting really tired and perhaps almost getting to the 'fed up' stage, but not quite. I suppose one good thing about being diabetic is that the end is definitely in sight - max of 4 more weeks. Whereas a non-diabetic person could still have another 8 weeks to go!!

BonaDea · 20/02/2013 17:29

p.s further to the sweep chat, did anyone here do anything else to get things moving naturally? I know I am probably clutching at straws... But was thinking of perhaps getting some acupuncture to soften the cervix so that when the induction starts things might get going with pessaries only?

At 36+4 I think I will start with the pineapple and raspberry leaf tea and anything else I can think of!!

Also - did any of you ladies get through induction without an epidural?

mylittlepuds · 20/02/2013 17:56

Spotty - you fatty! Grin. I did think that when typing it! Oooh it really could be the sleep thing too you then know. I'm very uncontrolled if I have one bad night?

Yes 31 tomorrow Hoping!

Bona - let's start a 'get things moving early' club.

I'm going to start on the raspberry leaf v soon - ooh not heard of pineapple!

The consultant told me that the more 'natural' the labour the less risk of shoulder dystocia.

Diabetes increases the risk, high BMI increases the risk, induction increases the risk, tools to get the baby out increases the risk and finally if it's happened before - that increases the risk too. So all of us are probably going to tick off two of those.

So I want this baby out! I started another thread and the consensus seemed to be sweep and then sex (with orgasm). Oooh errr!

Bona an epi was essential for me at later stages. Wish I had have had it straight away when the going got tough. Instead I had an awful drug called pethadine that left me out of it and baby's heart rate plummeting. It's banned now apparently...This time when the going gets tough - epi. However I have to say it didn't take the pain away...they can't have done it right.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 17:57

Bona you can try inserting evening primrose oil capsules have a google.

First time I had ARM, Synto drip and forceps with a measly dose of diamorphine that did nothing.

Second time just pessary all with gas and air Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 17:59

Puds second time is so much easier and faster Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 17:59

Oh but first time is easy too Wink

SpottyTeacakes · 20/02/2013 18:14

Also dd was back to back (sorry for all the posts!)

Hopingforno2 · 20/02/2013 18:29

I didnt get an epi till i was on the op table for emcs gas n air n that stupid pethidine so ds heartrate started to drop too and both him and me fell asleep during the labour! So 1st time i was taken in night before for pes but was found to be 2-3cm but still had waters broken n drip started next morning! Im thinking of asking them not to interfere like that again if the sweep again gets me to that stage or am i being silly? Would i be putting baby at risk? Well thats if baby is no longer in breech anyway

mylittlepuds · 20/02/2013 19:16

That's what I'm hoping Spotty! That the baby will drop out!

mylittlepuds · 20/02/2013 19:17

Excellent that you just needed gas and air - for me that's very encouraging.
