I seem to have filled up the old thread and thought I better start a new one! Grin Still got ages to go, don't leave me now...

Am currently sat waiting for my 16 week antenatal appt, been here an hour so far and just had BP done and that's it.

Also Ginger anywhere about?

Hopingforno2 · 23/01/2013 22:21

bona i plan to bring it all up when delivery is discussed.

puds yes it does happen to me too i presume i would have risen more if i didnt correct but nights r the pits just now lol

Ok so im going for my 4d rescan tommorow last chance for non diabetics they reccomend eating chocolate so do i be bad tommorow then correct my bg after the scan??

Mylittlepuds · 23/01/2013 22:26

I'd just have the choccy and take your insulin at the time. It takes a bloody hour and a half for it to work anyway! Ooh enjoy seeing your baby Hoping :-) how lovely!

Hopingforno2 · 23/01/2013 22:34

Yeah i think thats what il do, some diet coke too myb for a little hit of caffine. We were there 2 weeks ago but baby had a hold of both feet and holding legs above head in breech position lil rascal but come the clinic the monday after back in head down position so fingers crossed lol i cant wait Grin it was a xmas gift so baby best show face this time lol

dieciocho · 24/01/2013 06:55

hoping friends told me that hot chocolate was good before a scan to get baby moving and stuff, but when I mentioned it to mw she laughed. Confused
Oh well.

BonaDea · 24/01/2013 10:16

Good luck for the scan hoping - hopefully LO will be good today.

I'm also having the issue of getting 'stuck'. Had awful reading after dinner last night - 13.2. Was surprised as I had no dessert and carbs were just some whole grain rice. But, I corrected after an hour with 6 units. Checked again after another hour and was still 13.0!! By this time it was bed time so although it is a bit scary I took another 6u. Woke up at 2 am for loo and was 4.9Grin. So, took another 2 units to ward off a rise and woke up at 5.2 woo hoo!!

Mind you, I had a further 2 units to carry me to brekkie and even so by the time I ate it had risen to 8. Just had two eggs, no toast but took 12 u (crazy, right??). 45 mins later am 7.9 so not too bad. It is just mental though!

BonaDea · 24/01/2013 10:26

P.s. and sorry to ask the same thing again.... I STILL haven't had any chat from MW or consultant about the actual birth, doing a plan, dates etc. I think you guys said it all happens a bit later but I'm now 30+1 and given a few early babies on this thread am starting to really worry. Also, no mention of colostrum harvesting from them...

I tend to get v little time with the MW and the consultant is usually hovering to speak to me as she checks urine and BP so don't really get the chance to ask.

Should I just wait another couple of weeks? Feeling rather unprepared!

SpottyTeacakes · 24/01/2013 10:34

They don't like you to start with the colostrum until 36 weeks, and I had to ask about that. I had a chat with MW about birth at 34 weeks and she said we would go into more detail at 36 weeks (ha!). My consultant booked my induction at 34 weeks (for 38 weeks) and just said which process they would use :)

I think most people manage to get to the 38 week mark, it's just my body that goes into meltdown at 35 Grin Is it bad that I want to try again to see if I can get any further without getting really ill?!

Hopingforno2 · 24/01/2013 10:48

Thanks everyone i really hope baby shows face tonight lol

bona when im on the rise thats what tends to happen to me too can take 4u and still be same or even a little higher an hour later leaves me thinking wtf would it have gotten up to without a correction! Those nights r just horrible but will hopefully stop after baby arrives(she says hopefully) i havent had any chat about birth or colostrum as yet tho im behind at 28 weeks with ds i dont think they did till i was like 34 weeks or more.

spotty how many dc do u have?

SpottyTeacakes · 24/01/2013 10:52

I have two :)

Mylittlepuds · 24/01/2013 11:10

Anyone planning on more babies after this? Diabetes aside (and that's a bloody BIG aside) I really enjoy being pregnant. The bump, the kicks, the scans Smile. I just don't know how many more diabetic pregnancies I can mentally handle...

Bona that is bloody bezerk! I have had a great night overnight and great morning - it feels bizarre as I'm so used to it not being right! I still had that stupid hitting target but then hovering for hours thing for dinner last night though. Correction doses are my new norm. What would we do without them?!

Also does anyone else have freak outs thinking 'have I just done my insulin?' 'Did I give myself 1u or 20u?!' Or it is just me...Causes me no end of stress.

SpottyTeacakes · 24/01/2013 11:13

I do that all the time puds 'did I give myself my morning dose of levemir instead if evening?' So annoying!

I want another one by dp has said no Sad

Mylittlepuds · 24/01/2013 11:26

Ha Spotty that made me laugh! My DH has said 'no' too - funny that...He wants the snip but I shall not be letting him. I'm 31 and think I have more baby making days in me yet!

It's awful isn't it because I literally think I'm going to die if I've done it wrong! It's a big responsibility really.

RueDeWakening · 24/01/2013 11:33

Yeah I think colostrum harvesting is meant to be from 36 weeks. I asked the consultant if they could book my section at about 32 weeks this time so I had enough time to arrange my mum coming to look after the other 2 (mum is abroad) and she thought that would be ok, so hurrah. But she already said delivery would be no later than 38 weeks and poss any time from 36 weeks, so maybe that's why?

First time round, I'm sure I didn't go through plans etc with the mw till about 38 weeks! They booked my section for 40+0 though which is weird all things considered - they brought it forward a few days once I pointed it out.

SpottyTeacakes · 24/01/2013 11:35

I always give extra insulin because I'd rather have to eat every hour than correct every hour any excuse to eat Grin

Hopingforno2 · 24/01/2013 12:05

puds esp with my levemir just about to drop off n have a did i take it moment lol

spotty u are brave at the moment im thinking 2 plus the diabetes may be more than enough

im not sure i could put myself through this again as much as i enjoy being pregnant this lo has been worrying me right from the start lol and oh is a def no tho im only 29 n he is 25 so i guess never say never

SpottyTeacakes · 24/01/2013 12:08

I want to labour again Blush minus the bodily fluids Wink I love that omg I just had a baby feeling Grin

Mylittlepuds · 24/01/2013 12:22

Aww! It's mind blowing isn't it?! I still look at DS in shock and think 'how the hell are you so perfect?'. He was running about with a bowl on his head last night. Feel very lucky Smile

BonaDea · 24/01/2013 13:02

puds - are you sure he's alright running around with a bowl on his head?! JOKING!

Well, as this is my first, I will definitely be going for at least one more. I'm 33 atm, so probably need to get cracking with the second. Having said that, think work will freak if I make it too soon, so definitely going to have to think it through.

spotty - your way of thinking is probably spot on. Soooo much easier to eat a little extra than be worrying about high readings and corrections.

I took a reading of 4.1 about an hour ago (woo hoo!) so this morning has been a dream since about 2am compared to usual. Just had about 6 grapes to keep me going another half an hour til lunch. Turns out my baby LOVES grapes - the wee blighter has been booting me since about 20 minutes after I ate them!

Hopingforno2 · 24/01/2013 13:08

spotty the vauge memories i have of my labour with ds are not good i had an iv in each hand and the trace on my belly i could only lie down couldnt get up to go on toilet walk or even get on all fours Sad then of course ended in emergency section hope this time is better even if it ends up a planned section.

They are amazing grow up way too quick my ds is 4.5 and will only be a cpl months off being 5 when baby is due cant believe it!

Hopingforno2 · 24/01/2013 13:10

bona i would always have wanted a 2nd just cant see oh ever agreeing to a 3rd and i cant see it myself lol

BonaDea · 24/01/2013 13:19

hoping, I think a planned section sounds like a dream compared to your first time!! and at least you have a good gap between children - lots of my friends are grappling with changing two sets of nappies - once for a toddler, one for a new born. Think one lot is enough! Grin

Mylittlepuds · 24/01/2013 13:25

Indeed Bona...this baby was a 'surprise' so I am going to be one of those with two lots of nappies to handle. Arrggh! Panicked!

Because I suffered so badly with anxiety after DS I'd love to have a couple more babies I can enjoy without the awfulness that is postnatal depression. Fingers (really) crossed I don't get it this time.

BonaDea · 24/01/2013 13:30

I have my fingers crossed for you too on that front. Hopefully this time you'll feel less anxious because you'll be an old hand. I read somewhere that a lot of PND / anxiety is caused by new mothers being constantly bombarded with information / advice / scare mongering which makes you feel like a constant failure. It made a lot of sense to me when I read that. Anyway, you'll now know enough of what to do /not do to ignore that rubbish and get on with enjoying your baby (whereas I'll be deep under the 'I'm failing' first-time water!!).

Mylittlepuds · 24/01/2013 13:32

Ahh after earlier bragging of perfect levels I've hit 13 90 mins after eating. Yay! (Not).
