Am I in labour?

I'm 38 + 2.

Period pains started Friday morning. Ease up a little with paracetamol which I've constantly been taking but then come back.

Have vomited once severely but no tummy bug symptoms. Eating as normal.

Today the pains are a bit more severe.

Am I in labour? I'm so confused and a bit worried now.

Can I join you labouring ladies?
Been having period pains since Monday evening, lost my plug yesterday then been having strong contraction all night. They were at 1 minute long and 8 minutes apart but seem to have gone to 10-12 minutes for the last hour.

DH is at work so not sure when to get him home, also don't want to ring the birth centre too early

I had this for nearly a week with dd. would get niggly cramps, backache, be grumpy, couple of hours of painful contractions about 10 minutes apart then they would just stop. Drove me bloody nuts.

Had quite a wakeful night and thought things were getting going, but this morning I am back to period pains, the clear contractions seem to have stopped for now. Never mind! Off to the midwife this morning so will see what she says. I guess it's got to happen eventually. For now I am just concentrating on resting and eating to keep up my energy.

How far away is your DH fatima? I'm not planning to summon DP unless or until the contractions are quite seriously painful and fairly close together (five mins or so), but that's because a) I think I prefer being on my own in the early stages; b) he's only half an hour away, and c) we're only five mins from the hospital. Also it's my first so I assume that even when it gets going properly the first stage is likely to last for ages.

Hi Kali I hope it gets going for you soon. DHs work is 15 minutes away, I was thinking of asking him to finish at lunch time as i'm starting to feel a bit fed up and antsy and I don't want my anxiety to kick in. Also worried about calling him too soon though and wasting him time off.

After I posted here I had 30 mins of no contractions but they've started back up again at 8 minutes. I haven't rung the hospital yet, was going to wait until 5 minutes apart Confused
I've been sick a couple of times and had numerous toilet trips so i'm a bit fed up

Morning all you nearly there ladies, how are you all today? Tea how was your relaxing tv night?

Yesterday the same thing happened - definite contractions in the afternoon/evening and a restless night, but no obvious labour. The baby's head has definitely dropped even further as my SPD is now so bad that I can't walk at all, just standing up is really agonising and I've had to bring the crutches I've been on for months into the flat for the first time. Bit depressing but obviously a sign that the baby is v. low and right in my pelvis. Fingers crossed things get going soon because otherwise I'll start getting quite fed up!

Any news tea? And fatima sounded well on the way yesterday - any baby yet?

Hello all. Still stuck in some sort of protracted pre-labour. Contractions off and on but nothing regular or really serious yet. Been a week of this now! Fingers crossed Fatima is enjoying her new baby. Are you still having any symptoms Tea or has it all gone quiet?

Hallo kali, I'm exactly the same. Had some strong contractions earlier - almost doubled over in pain - and then it all stopped after an hour. Sad

Trying my best to not let it get me down!

MIL, FIL and mum calling every day to ask what's happening Confused

Hi Kali, how the contractions today?

Did a huge shop yday and bought lots of nibbles and tea things for guests for when the baby arrives eventually ..hid them away as DH is snack fiend in this house Hmm

I slept in DD's bed last night, she wasn't well and wanted daddy. I am now grumpy, tired and annoyed and have slight back pain.

How is everyone else?
